Breztri Aerosphere: Uses, How It Works, and Common Side Effects
Breztri Aerosphere: Uses, How It Works, and Common Side Effects Side Effects 0 Views • 24 days ago

Breztri Aerosphere is a triple therapy inhaler used to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD.

It combines three different medications: budesonide, glycopyrrolate, and formoterol. It’s meant to be taken regularly to help manage symptoms and prevent flare-ups, so it’s not a rescue inhaler for sudden breathing problems.

Each ingredient in Breztri Aerosphere has a different mechanism of action. Budesonide is a steroid that reduces inflammation in the lungs.

Glycopyrrolate is an anticholinergic medication that blocks the effects of acetylcholine in the lungs. This allows the airways to relax, making breathing easier.

Formoterol is a long-acting beta agonist that opens up the airways.
The usual dosage of Breztri Aerosphere is 2 inhalations by mouth twice per day.

Common side effects may include upper respiratory tract infection, pneumonia, back pain, influenza, muscle spasms, urinary tract infection, cough, sinus inflammation, diarrhea, and thrush in your mouth and throat.

To help prevent oral thrush, it is recommended to rinse your mouth after using your inhaler, ensuring not to swallow the rinse.

Steroid Treatments for EoE
Steroid Treatments for EoE Side Effects 0 Views • 24 days ago

Do you have Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE) and are looking for a treatment method? Have you been on various therapies for EoE, but they aren’t working and you want to try something else? Watch this video to learn about some new methods for treating EoE!

While not FDA Approved, certain steroids have been clinically tested to see if they will help EoE patients. There are two that I discuss in this video that have shown success. Two of the first things you might be thinking are - is it bad for your esophagus to use steroids and are there any side effects. We will talk about that. What it you have conditions like herpes - should you avoid these steroids?

You may also wonder why these steroids have not been FDA approved for EOE and if there have been steps in that direction. I'll explain that process.

Additionally, I will describe how clinicians studied and suggested how these steroids be dosed, how they should be taken, how long it takes for them to work, and how long they should be used for. Let's also talk about what other steps need to be taken - like oral hygiene and endoscopies. Finally, I discuss whether relapse can happen and what you can do in that event.

How soon do you feel the effect of Symbicort?
How soon do you feel the effect of Symbicort? Side Effects 0 Views • 24 days ago

Symbicort is one of the inhalers which in the case of asthma can be used as both a controller and a reliever. This is because one of the medications contained in Symbicort, called formoterol, has a quick onset of action, usually 5-10 minutes. Formoterol acts as a bronchodilator - a medication which opens up the small airways to help you breath better.
However, Symbicort also contains another medication called budesonide which is a corticosteroid. This acts as an anti-inflammatory medication which helps control inflammation in the airways long term (hence the term controller medication). These two medications work together in the case of asthma.

Your medication Symbicort

Budesonide and formoterol is also known as the brand name: Symbicort.
It is most commonly used to treat asthma in patients over the age of 12 but can also be used to treat asthma in children. No matter how old you are, depending on the severity of your asthma, Symbicort is taken two inhalations twice daily with a maximum of four inhalations per day. It comes in inhaler form and is taken by pressing inhaler to release medicine into mouth and then swallowing.
Some common side effects of Symbicort are headaches and upper respiratory tract infection.
Some less common side effects are dizziness, abdominal distress, vomiting, influenza, back pain, bronchitis, and nasal congestion.
Symbicort is not a rescue inhaler, and does not replace fast-acting inhalers to treat acute symptoms.
Do not take Symbicort if:
• You need acute bronchodilation in COPD
While taking Symbicort, it is important to remember to tell your doctor or pharmacist if you experience any of the following:
• Signs of an infection
• Signs of high blood sugar (confusion, fatigue, increased thirst, increased hunger, flushing, fast breathing, etc.)
• Signs of low potassium (muscle pain or weakness, muscle cramps or an abnormal heartbeat)
• Signs of adrenal gland problems (severe nausea, vomiting, severe dizziness, passing out, muscle weakness, etc.)
• Signs of lung problems
• Signs of allergic reaction (wheezing, chest tightness, fever, itching, bad cough, blue skin color, seizures, etc.)
Symbicort has a US Black Box Warning stating that it can increase the risk of asthma-related death.
