*ABOUT THIS VIDEO*
This video explains how Rosuvastatin (CRESTOR) belongs to a a group of drugs called HMG CoA reductase inhibitors, or "statins." Rosuvastatin is used together with diet to lower blood levels of "bad" cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein, or LDL), to increase levels of "good" cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein, or HDL), and to lower triglycerides (a type of fat in the blood).
Rosuvastatin is used in adults to slow the progression of atherosclerosis (a build-up of plaque in blood vessels that can block blood flow). It is also used to lower the risk of stroke, heart attack, and certain other heart complications in men and women who have coronary heart disease or other risk factors.
This video also explains how to take Rosuvastatin, as it can be taken as a single dose at any time of day, with or without food. Choose a time of day that will work best for you, and then take the medicine at the same time each day.
In addition the video explains, who may or may not be able to take it, which medications can interact with Rosuvastatin, and common side effects and serious side effects.

Statin Associated Muscle Symptoms and Pain
Statin Associated Muscle Symptoms and Pain Side Effects 0 Views • 24 days ago

In this video, I challenge whether statins cause muscle pain. The class of cholesterol lowering medications called statins are incredibly effective at preventing cardiovascular disease such as heart attacks and strokes. Yet many people are afraid of taking these medications for fear of side effects. One of the most common side effects is muscle pain. But how common are statin associated muscle symptoms? And do statins really cause muscle pain? Let’s look at what some of the newest clinical trials say about this controversial topic.

Rosuvastatin 10+ Side Effects that NO ONE tells you
Rosuvastatin 10+ Side Effects that NO ONE tells you Side Effects 0 Views • 24 days ago

#Rosuvastatin #Rosuvastatinsideefftects #Crestor #Crestorsideeffects #highcholesterol #cholesterol

Rosuvastatin belongs to a group of medicines called HMG-CoA
reductase inhibitors. It is most common known by its brand name
Crestor .

Cholesterol is taken into the body through food and also made by the liver. It is needed for our body to make hormones, bile and vitamin D. There are two major forms of cholesterol: LDL Low-density lipoprotein also known as
bad cholesterol, and HDL high-density lipoprotein also called
good cholesterol. Too much bad cholesterol can block your blood
vessels and lead to a heart attack or a stroke. On the other hand
the good cholesterol removes the bad cholesterol from the
blood vessels back to to the liver and remove it from the body.
Rosuvastatin works by reducing the amount of bad cholesterol
made by the liver and raises the good cholesterol to reduce the risk
of you getting a heart attack or a stroke.

Before you start Rosuvastatin, you need to tell your doctor
the following:
- if you are allergic to it, or to any ingredients listed on the
packaging.

- if you have any liver disease, kidney disease and breathing
problems.

- if you are pregnant, intend of likely to be pregnant as it may affect
the baby.

- if you are breast feeding or intend to breast feed, Rosuvastatin can
cross breast milk and affect the baby

- if you get muscle pain, tenderness or weakness from other medicines used to treat high cholesterol or triglycerides
... more in the video

What Strength it comes in?
Rosuvastatin comes in 10,20 and 40 mg

How to take it?
Depending on your condition and ethnic background, your doctor will decide the most appropriate starting dose for you.
The doses of rosuvastatin are between 10-40 mg taken once a day
at the same time everyday to get the best effect. It doesnt matter if
you take it with or without food.

Things to be aware of:
Be careful driving or operating machinery until you know how
this medicine affects you. Rosuvastain generally does not cause
any problems with your ability to drive a car or operate machinery.
However, it may cause dizziness in some people so make are you
know how the medication affects you before you start driving or
operate machinates.
... more in the video

Side Effects:

• headache
• constipation
• dizziness
• nausea (feeling sick)
• stomach pain
• unusual tiredness

... more in video

These are not the only side effects, more side effects, if you feel unwell, let your doctor or pharmacist know.

More information and side effetcs about Rosuvastatin can be found on
https://www.nps.org.au/assets/....medicines/cb99939e-2
https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/....statins/side-effects

if you are prescribed rosuvastatin, it means the doctor deems that
the benefit of the medications to keep you alive preventing you
from getting a heart attack and stroke outweighs the rare
side effects that very likely might not happen. So, listen to your
doctor. If you experience any of the side effects that I mentioned,
you then inform the doctor immediately and take it from there.

Now last note, it is great that we live in a world where we have all
these life saving medications available for us, but it is not a good
thing for us to solely rely on these medication and not do any
lifestyle modification. These medication only controls the
condition but does not cure the condition. Things you need to do
besides following the doctor’s instruction carefully to take your
medication daily on time are to
Exercise
Control your diet, reduce fat and salt intake
Quit smoking

These are very important to keep
your body and mind healthy and strong. Work with your local
doctor and pharmacist to achieve these goals.

Rosuvastatin Review (Crestor) - Everything you need to know! - Doctor Explains
Rosuvastatin Review (Crestor) - Everything you need to know! - Doctor Explains Side Effects 0 Views • 24 days ago

In this video we will cover everything you need to know about Rosuvastatin, also known as Crestor. We will discuss how and when to use it, we will cover its side effects, dosage and much, much more.

You can find more useful videos on cardiovascular diseases and their treatments here:
https://www.youtube.com/playli....st?list=PLaG3Bo3L0gX

Generic name: Rosuvastatin.
Brand names: Crestor and Ezallor.
Available as tablets and chewable tablets.

How to use it?
- Tablet: just swallow it whole with half a glass of water.
- Chewable tablet: just take the tablets and chew on it until it dissolves. If you want to you can also swallow this tablet whole.
It is best to take this medicine at fixed times. This will make you less likely to forget a dose.

When to use it?
Rosuvastatin is part of a group of drugs called Statins. They inhibit the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase, which normally plays an essential role in the synthesis of cholesterol in the liver. This lowers the circulating LDL, the total cholesterol and increased HDL-cholesterol.
Therefore Rosuvastatin can be used to treat a high cholesterol, familial hypercholesterolemia and it can be used to prevent cardiovascular disease.

What is the correct dosage?
The precise dose will depend on your specific indication of use, the side effect you might experience and the severity of your symptoms. Therefore always use the precise amount and frequency your doctor prescribed you.
- However, when treating adults most doctors will start with an initial dose of 5–10 mg 1×/day, if necessary your doctor might double your dose every 4 weeks up to a maximum dose of 40 mg 1x/day.

What are the side-effects?
- Common: Abdominal pain, Nausea, Constipation, Muscle pain, Diabetes mellitus, Dizziness and Headache.
- Uncommon: Skin Rash, Itching and Urticaria.
- Rare: changes in your blood values, edema, hypersensitivity reaction, muscle tear and inflammation of the pancreas.
- Very rare: it can cause several severe side effects.

Safety:
- First of all it is safe to drive when using Rosuvastatin.
- However, it rarely can cause liver abnormalities which can be increased with consumption of too much alcohol. Therefore it is often advised to not drink or at most 1 glass a day while using Rosuvastatin.
- Furthermore, Rosuvastatin can have interactions with other drugs your are taking. Always discuss this with your prescribing doctor.
- Lastly, do not use Rosuvastatin while pregnant or while breastfeeding, as it can be dangerous.

- Disclaimer: this video and the comments are meant purely informational! This is not medical advice! If you are looking for medical advice always contact your own doctor. -
