So many people in the industrialized nations are deficient in Vitamin D, it is truly an epidemic. When you consider that it is not just a vitamin, but also a pro-hormone, you can begin to understand the importance of this deficiency.
Vitamin D deficiency can lead to weakened bones, yes, but it can also lead to weakened immune systems as well. The risk of cancer, and many other illnesses, increases with a dropping vitamin D level.
The best way to get Vitamin D is from the Sun and from your diet. If you live too far north for the Sun, and can't get enough in your diet, then you should supplement. Having a healthy Vitamin D level is very important to your good health and longevity.

Many people are taking Vitamin D and there Vitamin D levels continue to stay low. The main reason is low Magnesium.
Without magnesium present, Vitamin D is stored in the body and not used. The body depends on magnesium to convert Vitamin D into its active form within the body. Magnesium also helps Vitamin D bind to its target proteins, as well as helping the liver and the kidneys to metabolize Vitamin D

Can You Overdose on Vitamin D? - Symptoms of Too Much Vitamin D- Vitamin D Toxicity Signs
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF VITAMIN D DEFICIENCY: Low Vitamin D Symptoms
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmOLG5Dqku0
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFdXIVO22wk
What happens if you take too much vitamin D in a week?
Symptoms of vitamin D toxicity are directly related to excess calcium in the blood, which can cause nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, frequent urination, weakness, and bone pain. Over time, the extra calcium can form deposits in the arteries and soft tissue instead of in the bones.
Does vitamin D flush out of your system?
Instead of being carried out in your body's wastewater, the vitamin will cling to your body fat for later use—which can compound the effects of daily overdosing.
Are there any side effects when taking vitamin D?
Most people do not commonly experience side effects with vitamin D, unless too much is taken. Some side effects of taking too much vitamin D include weakness, fatigue, sleepiness, headache, loss of appetite, dry mouth, metallic taste, nausea, vomiting, and others.
How do you flush vitamins out of your system?
There are water-soluble and fat-soluble vitamins. Water-soluble vitamins have less tendency to cause harm because we can flush them out of the system with water, while fat-soluble vitamins are absorbed slowly and stored longer.
How does excess vitamin D leave the body?
After vitamin D is absorbed through the skin or acquired from food or supplements, it gets stored in the body's fat cells. Here it remains inactive until it's needed. Through a process called hydroxylation, the liver and kidneys turn the stored vitamin D into the active form the body needs (called calcitriol).
How long until vitamin D is out of your system?
Calcitriol (1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3), the active form of vitamin D, has a half-life of about 15 hours, while calcidiol (25-hydroxyvitamin D3) has a half-life of about 15 days. Vitamin D binds to receptors located throughout the body.
Can too much Vit D cause heart palpitations?
Symptoms of vitamin D toxicity (a.k.a. hypervitaminosis d) can include a loss of appetite, weight loss, excessive urination, and heart arrhythmia.
Does vitamin D accumulate in the body?
It usually develops over time, since extra vitamin D can build up in the body. Nearly all vitamin D overdoses result from taking high amounts of vitamin D supplements. It is almost impossible to get too much vitamin D from sunlight or food.
Can vitamin D supplements cause irregular heartbeat?
Getting somewhat more than that is thought to be harmless, but in rare cases, taking excessive doses (usually due to unneeded supplements) can cause vitamin D toxicity, which raises the level of calcium in your blood, resulting in abnormal heart rhythms, kidney stones, muscle weakness, confusion, and even brain injury.
Can vitamin D cause hardening of the arteries?
Activation of this system increases blood vessel constriction, which can contribute to arterial stiffness. Vitamin D also can suppress vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation, activation of garbage-eating macrophages and calcification formation, all of which can thicken blood vessel walls and hinder flexibility.

- This is lesson n# 41 in "A DRUG IN BRIEF" Series. In this video I'm gonna discuss almost all you need to know about Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) - Vitamin D2 (Ergocalciferol) - Calcitriol - Calcidiol: Sources, Uses, Dosage, Side Effects, Mechanism of action, Deficiency, and Contraindications
- In less than 6 minutes you'll learn:
- What is Vitamin D 3?
Vitamin D belongs to the family of fat-soluble vitamins, which include vitamins A, D, E and K. These vitamins are absorbed well with fat and are stored in the liver and fatty tissues.
There are two main forms of vitamin D in the diet:
Vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol): Found in plant foods like mushrooms.
Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol): The flesh of fatty fish (such as salmon, tuna, and mackerel) and fish liver oils are among the best sources. Small amounts of vitamin D are found in beef liver, cheese, and egg yolks.
Natural sources of vitamin D are limited, especially if you're vegetarian or don't like fish.
Foods such as cow's milk, soy milk, orange juice, cereals, and oatmeal are sometimes fortified with vitamin D.
However, sunlight is the best natural source of vitamin D3. The UV rays from sunlight convert cholesterol in your skin into vitamin D3
- Learn more about Vitamin D mechanism of action, uses, dosage, side effects, and precautions in this video...

What are the signs of vitamin D deficiency? Vitamin D greatly influences the systems of our body from ensuring calcium supply to our bones to strengthening our immune system. We normally get this vitamin from foods, supplements, and the sun’s rays, but when something goes wrong and we face vitamin D deficiency, our body systems may break.
For example, sweating that seems a little excessive or not brought on by anything particularly obvious, however, can be a sign that you’re lacking vitamin D. So what other signs show a deficiency, how serious is the problem, and what can you do to get more of it? Here at Bright Side, we’ve studied the most common symptoms of low vitamin D levels and we want to tell you what we’ve found.
TIMESTAMPS:
You sweat excessively 1:01
Your bones often ache 1:35
You have muscle pain 2:11
You get sick all the time 2:47
You can’t seem to stay energized 3:26
When you get cuts or bruises, they take forever to heal 4:03
You notice more hair falling out of your head than usual 4:52
You can’t shake the feeling of sadness 5:25
What can you do to get more of vitamin D? 6:26

SUMMARY:
- Without vitamin D, your bones can’t absorb the necessary amount of calcium to create healthy bone tissue, causing a weakening of the bones known as osteomalacia.
- In addition to aching bones and muscles, a lack of vitamin D can cause chronic pain throughout the entire body. This debilitating condition is known as fibromyalgia, and it makes life a living nightmare for those who suffer from it!
- Suffering from your 4th or 5th virus this year? It may be because a lack of vitamin D is causing your immune system to work poorly.
- It’s 4 pm and you feel like you have two bricks as eyelids and barely have the strength to get up from your desk. Sound familiar? There could be quite a few reasons for this feeling. But it can also be due to a lack of vitamin D.
- Does it seem like your small wounds and injuries take longer to heal than everyone else’s? But this kind of slow healing can also be because of a lack of (say it with me) vitamin D!
- The average person loses anywhere from 50 to 100 hairs from their head every day. But if you suffer from a lack of vitamin D, you can lose way more than that, at least enough to notice that something’s definitely not right.
- According to Psychology Today, vitamin D is the only vitamin that is also a hormone. In studies on the relationship between vitamin D and depression, scientists discovered traces of the vitamin on cells found in the regions where depression resides.
- Vitamin D can be attained by spending time outside. According to The Arthritis Foundation, spending 10-15 minutes in the sun every other day or so can help replenish your vitamin D levels. Even sitting by an open window can help give you more vitamin D!

In this video, we delve into vitamin D — an essential vitamin for strong bones and overall health. We will explore vitamin D levels, deficiency and the role of sun exposure. Vitamin D is like sunshine for your body. Your skin produces vitamin D when exposed to sunlight. Vitamin D helps maintain bone health, supports your immune system and keeps your muscles working well. Low vitamin D levels can lead to fatigue, muscle weakness and bone pain. Factors such as skin tone and where you live affect how much vitamin D you produce from the sun. Remember, a balance of sun exposure, dietary sources and supplements can keep your vitamin D level in check. Let the sunshine in!

Vitamin D3 and K2
The synergy between Vitamin D3 and Vitamin K2 is a fascinating aspect of nutritional science, highlighting the intricate interplay between different vitamins within the body. Vitamin D3, often referred to as the "sunshine vitamin," is crucial for various physiological processes. It is primarily synthesized in the skin upon exposure to sunlight, and its active form, calcitriol, plays a pivotal role in calcium absorption, bone health, and more. On the other hand, Vitamin K2, a lesser-known but equally important nutrient, is involved in regulating calcium in the body and directing it to the bones and teeth while diverting its deposition in arteries and soft tissues.
How Does Vitamin D3 and K2 Work?
One of the key functions of Vitamin D3 is to enhance the absorption of calcium in the intestines, ensuring an adequate supply for bone mineralization. However, the efficient utilization of this calcium is contingent upon proper distribution, a task at which Vitamin K2 performs.
Vitamin K2 activates proteins, such as osteocalcin, which guide calcium into the bones and teeth. Simultaneously, Vitamin K2 helps to inhibit the activity of matrix Gla-protein (MGP), diverting the undesirable accumulation of calcium in blood vessels and tissues. This delicate balance orchestrated by the cooperative efforts of Vitamin D3 and K2 ensures optimal skeletal health while guarding against arterial calcification.
What is Vitamin K
Vitamin K on the other hand does not come from the sun you have k1 which is found in your leafy green vegetables and k2 which is found in your meats, eggs, and fermented foods like natto, which is a japanese fermented soybean said to have one of the highest sources of k2.
This is why a vitamin D deficiency, is said to cause bone loss, because that balance is missing. And when calcium intake is low, your body really has no other choice but to use the calcium storage in your bones, even if it is at the cost of bone loss and osteoporosis over time. Which is why you need vitamin d3.
After 3 years of supplementation, "the vitamin D and K group maintained vessel wall characteristics of the carotid artery, whereas the control group and the vitamin D-only group significantly worsened over 3 years of follow-up."
Secondly, in a 3-year, double-blind, randomized controlled trial in older men and women free of clinical Cardiovascular disease, I think that is important to highlight, they were free of cvd, the daily supplemental vitamin K in amounts achievable by high dietary intake of green, leafy vegetables, combined with 600 mg calcium carbonate and 400 IU vitamin D did not result in lower coronary artery calcium progression compared to the calcium + vitamin D group. But In a subgroup analysis of participants who were 85% and greater adherent to supplementation, there was less coronary artery calcium progression in the vitamin K + calcium and vitamin D groups than in the calcium and vitamin D group alone."
Which implies what? That Vitamin K being the third wheel on the date, made sure that vitamin D and calcium don't get into any funny business aka the progression of vascular calcification.
What form of Vitamin K2 is Best? MK4 vs MK7
The predominant form of vitamin K2 found in the body is MK4. In fact, In fact, your biochemistry converts all forms of vitamin K, including vitamin K1 and MK7, to MK4.3 Only the MK4 form of vitamin K2 accumulates in your body. It’s in the breasts, thyroid, ovaries, salivary glands, skin, pancreas, spleen, testes, intestines, brain, kidneys, and bone.4-6 This suggests that MK4 is the biologically active form of vitamin K2 with wide-ranging health benefits.

Today we’re going to talk about vitamin D toxicity and the signs you’re taking too much vitamin D.
It’s important to keep in mind that the dangers of vitamin D deficiency outweigh the dangers of getting too much vitamin D. It’s also very difficult to overdose on vitamin D.
Vitamin D works with other factors that support its function and absorption. Certain amounts of vitamin D can potentially have side effects but can be made safe by adjusting the cofactors.
Magnesium and vitamin K2 are the main cofactors that help keep higher levels of vitamin D from becoming toxic. It’s also important to drink plenty of water.
The side effects of vitamin D toxicity typically start to occur when a person is consuming hundreds of thousands of international units (IU) of vitamin D for many weeks.
The #1 sign of vitamin D overdose:
• Calcification
Other signs of vitamin D overdose:
• Kidney stones
• Nerve symptoms (numbness, pain, or tingling)
• Excessive thirst
• Excessive urination
In my opinion, it seems that many cases of vitamin D toxicity occur because of a person consuming too much vitamin D2—not vitamin D3.
There are some big differences between vitamin D2 and vitamin D3. I also don’t think people will see the same benefits after taking vitamin D2 that they would if they took vitamin D3.
A few things you need to know about vitamin D2:
• It’s not as effective as D3
• It’s not as bioavailable as D3
• It’s not as studied as D3
• It doesn’t help prevent fractures like D3 can
• It does help reverse rickets (in infants)
• It has a different effect on depression than D3
• It doesn’t affect the immune system like D3 can
When using high doses of vitamin D, always check with your doctor. High doses of vitamin D can increase blood/urine calcium levels resulting in calcium deposits in the kidney. Also drink 2.5 liters of fluids per day, take cofactors with vitamin D (magnesium, K2 and zinc) and have your doctor monitor your PTH, vitamin D blood levels and creatinine and avoid excess calcium supplements of high calcium foods when taking vitamin D levels over 10,000 IUs.

0:00 Introduction: Common vitamin D deficiency symptoms
1:30 11 surprising vitamin D deficiency signs
5:56 Vitamin D3 deficiency explained
9:40 How much vitamin D should I take?
13:30 Take vitamin D3 with the cofactors
Today, I’m going to tell you about some of the symptoms that you probably didn’t know were related to vitamin D deficiency. The most common signs that you’re vitamin D deficient include lower back pain, depression, high blood pressure, inflammation, and autoimmune diseases.
Blood tests only show you the inactive form of vitamin D and don't tell you about vitamin D at the cellular level. Instead, look out for some of the surprising signs of vitamin D deficiency.
1. Head sweating
This is typically seen in infants but can also be seen in teenagers and adults.
2. Sweating more at night
If you’re vitamin D deficient, you may sweat excessively, even if the room is cool. You might also wake up with a moist pillow.
3. Mood swings
Vitamin D controls mood regulation, so if you’re deficient, you could experience a range of moods in a short time.
4. Procrastinating
If you constantly put things off for later, you could be vitamin D deficient!
5. Panic attacks
Low vitamin D levels can cause panic attacks, so try taking high doses of vitamin D3 if you’re experiencing them.
6. Achiness
Achiness in the pelvis, lower back, hips, and upper legs is often a sign of low vitamin D.
7. Loss of muscle strength
If you have low vitamin D, you won’t have enough calcium in the muscles. Calcium allows the muscle to contract and is also involved in muscle production.
8. Stiffness
Stiffness related to vitamin D deficiency usually occurs in the knees and fingers. This is related to inflammation, weakened cartilage, and weakened collagen.
9. Chronic fatigue
Vitamin D supports your mitochondria, the energy factories of the cell. Without enough vitamin D, you can’t make energy.
10. Slowed down thinking
Vitamin D deficiency can cause diminished cognitive function.
11. Difficulty feeling satisfied
If you’re vitamin D deficient, you might not feel satisfied after eating, and you’ll have a tendency to overeat.
Consider taking around 10,000 to 20,000 IU of vitamin D3 per day, along with the cofactors magnesium, vitamin K2, zinc, and vitamin B6.

2:21 Thanks for watching!
In this video, we’re going to talk about the overconsumption of vitamin D, specifically vitamin D3 supplements. You can not overdose on vitamin D with sunlight, but you can definitely consume too much vitamin D3. If you are not consuming vitamin D3 with vitamin K2, you could end up with a buildup of calcium in your soft tissues or hypercalcemia (high blood calcium).
Here are some of the side effects of hypercalcemia:
•Vomiting
•Weakness
•Kidney stones
•Frequent urination
•Excessive thirst
•Abdominal pain
•Depression
•Heart arrhythmias
Vitamin K2 is important because it takes the excess calcium from your soft tissues and blood, and moves it into the bone. Vitamin D3 helps you absorb calcium from the small intestine. You need both of these vitamins to maintain healthy calcium levels.
High amounts of vitamin D3 taken with a calcium supplement will cause even more calcium to be absorbed into the blood. Calcium carbonate is especially problematic. Always take vitamin K2 if you’re taking vitamin D3.

Vitamin D deficiency is not always easy to detect. Blood tests do not reflect what's going on deeper in your cells.
Taking too much vitamin D can be dangerous if you have hypercalcemia, or too much calcium in the blood. This can lead to kidney stones.
A lack of vitamin D is also dangerous! If you’re deficient in vitamin D, you are more susceptible to autoimmune diseases, which is currently the world’s largest health problem.
Vitamin D is involved in over 2500 genes and is intimately involved in every part of your immune system. You need a maintenance dose of 8,000 to 10,000 IU of vitamin D daily for healthy immune function.
Many people can not get adequate vitamin D from the sun or their food. Genetic factors can contribute to vitamin D resistance. Low magnesium, zinc, and vitamin K2 can also inhibit the absorption of vitamin D. Certain viruses downgrade vitamin D receptors, weakening your immune function. Our RDAs are also far too low.
There are several ways to maximize vitamin D benefits while also preventing adverse vitamin D side effects. Take the cofactors magnesium, zinc, and vitamin K2 with vitamin D. Limit your calcium intake, especially when taking a high dose of vitamin D. You can also increase fluid intake to 2.5 liters per day to prevent kidney stones.

In this video, we’re going to talk about vitamin D toxicity. Some people are afraid of taking too much vitamin D, when it may not be as scary as you might think.
According to an article by the Mayo Clinic, vitamin D may not actually be as toxic as was once believed.
In the 1940s, vitamin D was used for rheumatoid arthritis. But, the amounts being used were between 200,000 and 300,000 IUs of vitamin D. The reason this could have helped is that vitamin D helps support the immune system and helps lower inflammation.
In the 1950’s they were fortifying products like dairy products with vitamin D. But, there were some complaints from parents with children who had side effects. The fortification of vitamin D in dairy was banned in Europe, but not in some other countries, including America.
Years later, it was discovered that these children might have experienced these side effects due to a rare genetic disease called Williams syndrome. With Williams syndrome, you don’t actually want to take vitamin D at all.
Now, when you look at vitamin D, it always says something along the line of “don’ take too much, you could experience a toxic effect.”
But, according to this article by the Mayo Clinic, it would take getting 50,000 to 100,000 IUs of vitamin D for months to years before vitamin D would become toxic. This is actually a lot more than what most people consider toxic.
When talking about vitamin toxicity, we’re referring to hypercalcemia, which is too much calcium in the blood.
When people are afraid of vitamin D toxicity, they end up taking smaller amounts like 1,000 to 2,000 IUs per day. But, with this amount, it could actually take four months or more to bring a vitamin D deficiency up to a normal level.
If you want to decrease the potential risk of kidney stones, you could drink 2.5 liters of fluid every day, avoid taking calcium and avoid dairy.

Vitamin D toxicity is very rare and typically involves too much calcium in the blood. Even Dr. Bruce Hollis, a pioneer in vitamin D research, has never personally seen a case of vitamin D toxicity. To develop vitamin D toxicity, you’d have to consume hundreds of thousands of IU of vitamin D3 for months!
Vitamin D needs magnesium to function properly in the body. The more vitamin D you take, the more magnesium you need. Magnesium prevents vascular calcification, the main problem associated with vitamin D toxicity.
The vitamin D receptor is dependent on zinc. Like magnesium, your zinc requirements increase when you take vitamin D. Zinc deficiency symptoms include an altered sense of taste and smell, acne, flaky skin, and lowered testosterone.
When you increase your vitamin D intake, you’ll need more vitamin K2. Vitamin K2 helps prevent the buildup of calcium and also helps to drive calcium into the bones and teeth.
The active form of vitamin A, called retinol, is also an important cofactor for vitamin D. Vitamin A receptors sometimes bind with vitamin D receptors as a complex. Vitamin A also helps keep calcium out of your arteries.
Always take vitamin D3, not D2. Vitamin D2 is less potent and is typically synthetic. Avoid synthetic vitamin D3 supplements and supplements with fillers such as maltodextrin or glucose syrup.
Leafy greens, chocolate, certain nuts, and pumpkin seeds are the best food sources of magnesium. When choosing a supplement, look for magnesium glycinate. The best food sources of zinc are red meat and shellfish. If you take a zinc supplement, consume it in a blend with other trace minerals.
For every 10,000 IU of vitamin D3 that you take, you’ll need 100 mcg of vitamin K2. MK7 is the best form. Vitamin K2 is found in high-quality grass-fed butter, kimchi, sauerkraut, grass-fed beef, and eggs.
It’s best to get your vitamin A from food. Egg yolks, liver, and cod liver oil are the best sources.
