How serious are health risks with Plavix?

http://www.gregjoneslaw.com For many years, Plavix was the recommended heart medication for patients with a gastrointestinal intolerance for aspirin. The drug's manufacurers, claimed that Plavix was not only more effective than aspirin in preventing heart attacks and strokes, but it also caused fewer ulcers and other gastrointestinal complications. However, recent studies have found that Plavix can cause serious bleeding ulcers and gastrointestinal hemorrhaging in some patients when taken alone or in combination with aspirin or other similar heart drugs. Research also shows that patients with no history of heart disease who are taking Plavix and aspirin combined have a twofold risk of heart attack, stroke, and death. You should NOT take Plavix if you have a medical history of ulcers or gastrointestinal bleeding, PUD, or have recently suffered a trauma or are anticipating an upcoming surgery. Talk to your physician about alternative drug therapy.

Attorney Michael Werner of Parker Waichman discusses how one prescription drug is being deemed useless.

In an effort to stop recurring heart attacks and strokes, Plavix was once billed as a great companion to aspirin. However, recent studies have shown that the drug has had no positive effects on patients who use it. And in fact, those who do take the drug are at a much higher risk for bleeding episodes. This is a very important issue for people considering or already taking Plavix and aspirin. Watch this video now to learn more.
