Estradiol Side Effects
Estradiol is a powerful hormone, but one of its most serious side effects is the increased risk of blood clots, especially when taken orally. In this video, we explore how oral steroid hormones, including estradiol, progesterone, and testosterone, can interfere with the liver’s clotting process over time. We also discuss safer alternatives, such as transdermal creams and sublingual estrogen, which bypass the liver and reduce clotting risks. If you're considering hormone therapy, understanding these risks is crucial. Join us for our FREE Hormone Reboot Training to learn more!

Progesterone is a crucial hormone for women at all stages of life. It helps women in menopause but does have some side effects. A small minority of women experience serious progesterone intolerance symptoms. A progesterone metabolite called Allopregnanolone is the main reason some forms of progesterone help with sleep. Allopregnanolone may be a problem for some women with a history of premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).

What causes high estrogen in men, what are the consequences, and what can you do about it? Find out.

1:40 The #1 reason for high estrogen in men
2:35 What to do about too much estrogen in men
Today we're going to talk about the consequences of high estrogen in men and what you can do if you're a man who has have too much estrogen.
Consequences of high estrogen in men:
1. It can increase the risk of stroke
• Excess estrogen can increase the risk of blood clots that can lead to stroke.
2. Too much estrogen can be dangerous to the cardiovascular system
• Estrogen (estradiol) is typically at higher levels when someone has a heart attack, and when men have atherosclerosis.
3. Estrogen dominance can cause an enlarged prostate
• Estrogen is an anabolic hormone. It grows things.
What causes high estrogen in men? It could potentially be because of:
• Soy products
• Endocrine disrupters
• Dairy
• Too much aromatase (This could be the #1 reason, and it’s likely because of belly fat)
What to do:
• DIM
• Stinging nettle root
• Cruciferous vegetables
• Reduce insulin (do healthy keto and intermittent fasting)

Thanks for watching! I hope this video helps you better understand the consequences of high estrogen in men.
I wanted to better understand the relationship between progesterone and sleep. On the one hand, many women feel like they can't do cyclic hormones because they need nightly progesterone to sleep. And yet, in a reproductive aged woman, high progesterone as seen towards the end of the luteal phase right before menstruation begins is associated with higher rates of insomnia and generally worse sleep quality.
What I learned is making me rethink oral progesterone. A very high percentage of oral progesterone, when it is metabolized through the liver, gets converted to allopregnanolone, which is both a sedative and an antidepressant. In reproductive aged women, some progesterone gets converted to allopregnanolone, but not nearly at the rates that oral progesterone does.
This means (a) women are getting much lower doses of actual progesterone than we think and (b) oral progesterone is really functioning more like a drug than a physiologic hormone. Maybe this is helpful for women who would benefit from a sedative-antidepressant. But I don't think we should be drugging women without full understanding or consent. And, women aren't getting adequate progesterone.
I'm not ready to change my prescribing just yet. My patients taking cyclic oral progesterone are doing really well. But I do want to be transparent that this is something I am looking into and considering.
Check out my latest talk on Hormones, HRT, and Sleep:
https://youtu.be/4KSUC0RBGV8
I explain why both estradiol and progesterone are essential for quality sleep and why Hormone Replacement Therapy in menopause should be striving to replace hormones as physiologically as we can.

What are the side effects of high estrogen? Estrogen helps your body tissues grow, but high estrogen symptoms can let you know that your estrogen and progesterone levels are out of balance. Inflammation, intestinal cramping and heavy periods are just a few of the signs to be aware of.

Some of the symptoms low estrogen causes includes hot flashes, dry vagina, stress incontinence, irritable bladder, painful intercourse, skin irritations, facial skin wrinkling, hair loss especially in the front of the head, recurrent urinary tract infections and others. Dr. Maupin and Brett Newcomb cover the symptoms and some of the side effects of treating these symptoms with bioidentical replacement.

Side effects from estradiol can be annoying, but are controllable if you understand how your hormones work.
Learn more here :: https://genesisgold.com/hypoth....alamus/estradiol-sid
Anytime you take exogenous hormones – meaning not what your body naturally makes, but hormones you take – you may experience some side effects. That’s true of all hormones. Synthetic estradiol is the estrogen used in hormonal forms of birth control and hormone replacement therapy. Even your own endogenous estradiol, that which your body naturally makes, can cause side effects - especially if it’s out of balance with your progesterone. Remember estrogen is the fertilizer growing lush, healthy tissue.
Progesterone is the gardener – turning off estrogens unwanted growth promoting effects – like tumors. When you’re taking the birth control pill, you are not getting real progesterone. You’re taking a synthetic progestin which is derived from testosterone.
