- What is Betamethasone (Betnelan, Celestone and Diprosone)?

- Betamethasone is a topical and systemic anti-inflammatory glucocorticoid. It depresses formation, release and activity of endogenous mediators of inflammation, including prostaglandins, kinins, histamine, liposomal enzymes and complement system. And it also modifies body's immune response.

- It is available as tablets and oral solution, suspension for injection, foam, gel, Lotion, cream and ointment. So it is available in many formulations, and you may also find it combined with other active ingredients for various indications.

- Oral and intramuscular Betamethasone are used in the treatment of wide variety of chronic diseases including Inflammatory, Allergic, Hematologic, Neoplastic, and Autoimmune disorders.

Intramuscular Betamethasone is also used for antepartum therapy, for fetal lung maturation in pregnant women.

Intrabursal injection can be used for Bursitis, peritendinitis, and tenosynovitis.

And intraarticular injection can be used-for rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, and acute gouty arthritis. And it can be also used intradermally for certain dermatologic conditions.

And topical Betamethasone is used for Inflammation and pruritis, associated with various allergic or immunologic skin problems.
