Marte-Helene Bjork, MD, PhD, Haukeland University Hospital, Bergen, Norway, discusses current treatment options for post-traumatic symptomatic epilepsy. Levetiracetam and phenytoin are used to prevent symptomatic seizures in patients with brain trauma. The use of levetiracetam to prevent the development of epilepsy is being studied in animal models but has not yet been trialed in humans. This interview took place during the European Academy of Neurology 2021 congress.
