Your Medication Dexlansoprazole

Dexlansoprazole is also known as the brand names: Dexilant.
Dexlansoprazole comes in 30 and 60 mg tablets.
It is used to treat erosive esophagitis and heartburn associated with gastroesophageal reflux disease. If you are using it to treat erosive esophagitis, it is taken 60 mg once daily for up to 8 weeks. For heartburn, it is taken 30 mg once daily for 4 weeks. No matter what your doctor has you taking it for, it is taken orally with or without meals.
Some less common side effects of dexlansoprazole are headaches, diarrhea, abdominal pain, flatulence, vomiting, and upper respiratory tract infection.
Do not take dexlansoprazole if:
• You are taking products that contain rilpivirine
While taking dexlansoprazole, it is important to remember to tell your doctor or pharmacist if you experience any of the following:
• Signs of low magnesium (mood changes, muscle pain or weakness, muscle cramps, etc.)
• Signs of kidney problems (urinary retention, change in amount of urine passed or weight gain)
• Red or irritated eyes or sores in mouth, throat, nose or eyes
• Signs of an allergic reaction (wheezing, chest tightness, fever, itching, bad cough, blue skin color, etc.)
• If you start taking new medications, vitamins, or supplements
• Your condition does not improve or you develop new or worsening symptoms
