Your Medication Doxazosin

Doxazosin is also known by the brand names: Cardura and Cardura XL.

Doxazosin comes in 1, 2, 4, and 8 mg tablets and 4, and 8 mg extended-release tablets.

Doxazosin is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure, and in men, used to treat signs of an enlarged prostate. No matter what your doctor has you taking it for, doxazosin is taken by mouth once a day with breakfast. If you miss a dose, take the missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your normal dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses.

Some common side effects with doxazosin include dizziness, headache, and tiredness.
Some less common side effects include low blood pressure, fluid retention, nausea and abdominal pain.

While taking doxazosin, remember it is important to tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have:
• Signs of an allergic reaction (rash, itching, swelling, tightness of the chest, etc.)
• An allergy to doxazosin.
• Liver disease

Doxazosin needs to be stored at room temperature in a dry place.
