Your Medication Duloxetine

Duloxetine is also known as the brand name: Cymbalta

Duloxetine is most commonly used for mood changes, but is also used for nerve and muscle pain or for anxiety disorder. No matter what your doctor has you taking it for, duloxetine is usually taken my mouth once daily and is safe to take either with meals or on an empty stomach.

Standard dosing of duloxetine ranges from 20mg, 30mg, 40mg, or 60mg daily.

Some common side effects with duloxetine include headache, dry mouth, feeling tired or weak, stomach pain, nausea, or weight loss.
Some less common side effects with duloxetine include increase blood pressure or difference in heart rate, trouble sleeping or abnormal dreams, feeling dizzy, or blurred vision.

Duloxetine has a US Black Box Warning of increased risk of suicidal thinking in children, adolescents, and young adults up to the age of 24. Do not give this medication to children.

While taking duloxetine, remember it is important to tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have:
• Loss of appetite, dark urine, clay colored stools, or yellowing of the skin or eyes
• You have signs of bleeding, such as blood in stools, bruising, or nose bleeds.
• You have a skin blisters or a purple rash.
• You have kidney function problems
