Erythromycin is one of the three macrolide antibiotics (the other two being clarithromycin and azithromycin).

In the UK erythromycin is used primarily in primary care to treat long term skin conditions acne and rosacea.

In contrast clarithromycin is used to treat more serious infections, such as chest infections and cellulitis.

In this video we discuss the use of erythromycin in acne and rosacea in more detail.

We also discuss its dosing, interactions and side effects.
