Your medication Furosemide

Furosemide is also known as the brand name Lasix.

Furosemide comes in an injection, an oral solution, and an oral tablet dosage form.

Furosemide is most commonly used for removing extra fluid due to heart failure or renal disease. Furosemide can also be in combination with other medications to treat high blood pressure. You can take furosemide with or without food. Some patients taking furosemide may also be prescribed potassium. This should be discussed with your physician.

Standard dosing of furosemide ranges from: 20 mg to 40 mg once to two times a day.

Some common side effects of furosemide include: low blood pressure, dizziness, and urinary frequency.

Furosemide, if given in large amounts, can lead to excessive urination which can lead to dehydration and loss of electrolytes.

While taking furosemide remember it is important to tell your doctor or pharmacist if:

• You have signs of fluid loss such as mood change, confusion, and muscle pain.
• You experience extreme dizziness or fainting
