Griseofulvin is an antifungal agent and chemically it is a spiro compound formed by fusion of 1-benzofuran and cyclohexene rings at a single carbon. This drug acts by inhibition of mitosis at metaphase in fungal cells by acting on microtubules. Due to high affinity to the keratin cell this drug is specifically used for skin and nail infections.
