A nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) called indomethacin is used to treat the symptoms of long-term musculoskeletal pain disorders and to cause preterm newborns' haemodynamically significant patent ductus arteriosus to close.
Acute flare-ups of chronic illness, moderate to severe ankylosing spondylitis, moderate to severe osteoarthritis, acutely painful shoulder (bursitis and/or tendinitis), and acute gouty arthritis are among the symptoms of moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis that oral indometacin is recommended to treat.
