Your Medication Meloxicam

Meloxicam is also known by the brand name, Mobic.
Meloxicam comes in 7.5, 15mg tablets, and a 7.5mg/5ml suspension.
Meloxicam is most commonly used for arthritis, but it can also be used for other things as well. No matter what your doctor has you taking it for, meloxicam is taken by mouth once daily with or without food and with a full glass of water.
Standard dosing of meloxicam ranges from 7.5 mg to 15 mg daily.
Some common side effects of meloxicam include belly pain, headache, dizziness, upset stomach, loose stools, or hard stools.
Some less common side effects with meloxicam include mood changes, shock, yellowing of the skin, and kidney problems.

If you miss a dose of meloxicam:
• Take the missed dose as soon as you think about it
• If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your usual time
• Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses

The best way to store meloxicam:
• Store at room temperature
• Protect from light
• Keep the lid closed tightly
• Store in a dry place, avoid the bathroom and refrigerator
• Keep out of reach of children and pets
• Check with your pharmacist about how to throw out unused drugs

Do not take meloxicam if:
• You have allergic-type reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs
When taking meloxicam, remember it is important to tell your doctor of pharmacist if you have:
• Signs of an allergic reaction, like rash; hives; itching; blistered, or peeling skin with or without fever
• Signs of bleeding, such as throwing up blood or throw up that looks like coffee grounds, coughing up blood, blood in the urine
• Signs of kidney problems, such as unable to pass urine, change in how much urine is passed
• Shortness of breath, a big weight gain, swelling in the arms of legs
