Nasty Effects of Over-the-Counter Painkillers | Dr. Janine

In this video, Dr. Janine shares the nasty effects of over-the-counter painkillers. Over-the-counter painkillers are also referred to as NSAIDs – Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs. The most common are ibuprofen and acetaminophen. Dr. Janine explains that ibuprofen temporarily reduces the amount of prostaglandins made by your body related to pain and swelling. Some of the most common side effects are kidney problems, high blood pressure, stomach bleeding, and ulcers. Dr. Janine talks about how acetaminophen’s side effects are allergic reactions and liver damage (jaundice, nausea, and vomiting).
