scopolamine is a tertiary amine and is a plant alkaloid used as antimuscarinic agent, it has similar effects on PNS as that of atropine but greater effects on CNS. It is use for postoperative nausea and vomiting and is use for motion sickness. It is very potent antispasmodic agent, it can cause euphoria and subjected to abuse, it also block short term memory. It cause adverse effects like hallucinations, confusion, dry mouth, urinary retention, constipation, Restlessness, delirium. It has half life of about 9.5 hours. it is taken into system by transdermal drug delivery system through patches. It effects last for about 3 days through topical patches.
