Your medication Sitagliptin

Sitagliptin is also known as the brand name: Januvia

Sitagliptin comes in a tablet dosage form and is most commonly used for type 2 diabetes. No matter what your doctor has you taking it for, sitagliptin is usually taken by mouth once daily and is safe to take either with meals or on an empty stomach.

Standard dosing of sitagliptin ranges from 25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg.

Some less common side effects with sitagliptin include swelling, nausea, low blood sugar, diarrhea or constipation, or a runny nose.

Do not take sitagliptin if you have kidney problems or type 1 diabetes.

While taking sitagliptin, remember it is important to tell your doctor or pharmacist if:
• You have signs of an allergic reaction, such as rash, itching, swelling, or tightness of the chest
• You are taking any other diabetes medications
• You have severe abdominal or back pain, nausea or vomiting, are not hungry, or a fast heart rate
• You are urinating less than usual or not at all
• You are shaky, confused, have an increased heart rate, or are sweating because these could be signs of low blood sugar
• You have red or purple, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin with a fever, sore throat, or swelling in your face or tongue
