Blood sugar levels that are fall below 70mg/dl is called hypoglycemia meaning that our blood sugar level is below the normal range. Hypoglycemia can cause various different symptoms which include sweatiness, shakiness. When blood sugar levels fall too low, it can lead to seizures, coma and even death. For that reason, it is extremely important to learn the symptoms of hypoglycemia and how to treat low blood sugar levels.

Insulin and other medications can cause hypoglycemia, therefore, patients on these need to be aware of this. There are new options available now to treat hypoglycemia which I discuss in this video.

Unfortunately, people can develop hypoglycemia unawareness after a while. That is when the person loses the ability to sense a low blood sugar reaction. Fortunately, continuous glucose monitors (CGM) have been helpful for these particular patients.
