Sotacor is a beta-blocker and an antiarrhythmic medicine. It is used to treat a variety of different types of fast,
abnormal heart rhythms known as tachyarrhythmias.

Sotalol, the active ingredient in Sotacor, is also available in its generic version.

Sotalol works by blocking sites called beta receptors in the heart. These sites receive electrical messages from the brain, commanding the heart chambers to contract. This slows the electrical impulses in the heart muscle and helps to regulate and restore disturbances in the heart rhythm.
