Your Medication Clindamycin (Brand Name Cleocin)
Clindamycin comes in 75, 150, and 300 mg capsules, 75 mg/5 mL oral solution.

Clindamycin is an antibiotic most commonly used to treat bacterial infections. No matter what your doctor has you taking it for, clindamycin is usually taken by mouth with or without food usually 3 to 4 times a day. If upset stomach occurs take clindamycin with food. If you miss a dose, take the missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your normal dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses.

Do not take clindamycin if: you have colitis.

Some common side effects with clindamycin include upset stomach, and diarrhea.
Some less common side effects with clindamycin include skin rash, yellow skin or eyes, joint pain or swelling and vaginal itching or discharge. (Flash on screen this is not a complete list of side effects)

While taking Clindamycin, remember it is important to tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have:
• Signs of an allergic reaction (rash, itching, swelling, tightness of the chest, etc.)
• If a very bad skin reaction occurs. It can cause very bad health problems that may not go away, and sometimes death. Get medical help right away if you have signs like red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin (with or without fever); red or irritated eyes; or sores in your mouth, throat, nose, or eyes this can be a sign of Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis.

Clindamycin liquid needs to be stored at room temperature and shaken well before each dose is given. Use the measuring device received from the pharmacist or doctor. Any liquid remaining after 10 days needs to be thrown away. All other forms of Clindamycin are kept at room temperature, in a dry place.
