Within a healthy eye is a clear lens. As we become older, that lens becomes cloudy. The cloudy lens is called a Cataract. In cataract surgery, the cloudy lens is removed and replaced with a clear artificial lens implant.

If someone has previously taken Flomax (Tamsulosin), it affects the ability of the pupil to dilate. With the advent of pupil expansion devices like the Malyugin Ring, removing cataracts in such patients has become much easier.
