Small fibre neuropathy leads to severe neuropathic pain. In a randomized, double-blind, crossover trial – the LENSS study – de Greef et al. evaluate the efficacy of lacosamide, an anticonvulsant, in patients with SCN9A-associated small fibre neuropathy. Compared with placebo, lacosamide reduces pain and improves sleep quality and general well-being.
