Losartan is also known as the brand name: Cozaar

Losartan comes in 25, 50, 100 mg in tablet form.

Losartan is most commonly used for high blood pressure, but is also used for diabetic kidney disease and heart failure. No matter what your doctor has you taking it for, Losartan is usually taken by mouth once daily and is safe to take either with meals or on an empty stomach but be sure to take it at the same time every day.


Usual doses of Losartan ranges from 25 mg to 100 mg daily

Some common side effects with losartan include chest pain, low blood pressure, dizziness, fatigue, drooping of the eyelid and mouth, diarrhea, urinary tract infection, back pain, and weakness.
Some less common side effects with losartan include abdominal pain, allergic reaction, chest pain, constipation, depression, drowsiness

Do not take losartan if: you become pregnant or will become pregnant

While taking losartan, remember it is important to tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have: any urinary retention, blood in urine, change in amount of urine passed, weight gain, abnormal heartbeat, confusing, dizziness, passing out, weak, shortness of breath, numbness or tingling feeling, shaking, fast heartbeat confusion, hunger or sweating.
