Your Medication Phenazopyridine

Phenazopyridine is also known as the brand names: Azo-Gesic [OTC] [DSC], Pyridium and Urinary Pain Relief [OTC].
Phenazopyridine come in 95, 100, and 200 mg tablets.
Phenazopyridine is most commonly used to treat painful or difficult urination. It is usually taken by mouth, two tablets 3 time daily with or after meals for two days.
You may see red urine discoloration.
Some less common side effects of phenazopyridine are headache, dizziness, and stomach cramps.
Some rare side effects are kidney failure, hepatitis, rash, skin pigmentation, and vertigo.
While taking phenazopyridine, it is important to tell your doctor or pharmacist if:
• You experience headache, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea
• You have signs of an allergic reaction (rash, itching, swelling, tightness of the chest, etc.)
• You have signs of liver problems (dark urine, feeling tired, lack of appetite, nausea, abdominal pain, light-colored stools, vomiting, or yellow skin or eyes
• You start taking new medications, vitamins or supplements
• Your condition does not improve or you develop new or worsening symptoms
