Your Medication Pravastatin

Pravastatin is also known as the brand names: Pravachol

Pravastatin comes in 10mg, 20 mg, 40mg, 80mg tablets.

Pravastatin is most commonly used for high levels of fat or lipids in the blood, preventing future possible strokes, and preventing future heart diseases.
No matter what your doctor has you taking it for, Pravastatin is usually taken by mouth once daily and is safe to take without regards to meal.

Usual doses of pravastatin ranges from 10 mg to 80 mg daily

Some common side effects with pravastatin include chest pain, headache, fatigue, dizziness, skin rash, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, heartburn, and cough.
Some less common side effects with pravastatin include hair loss, allergic reaction, decrease in appetite, and change in energy on a daily basis.

Do not take pravastatin if: have a liver disease, or have become pregnant or breastfeeding.

While taking pravastatin, remember it is important to tell your doctor or pharmacist if you:
• Have signs of an allergic reaction (rash, itching, swelling, tightness of the chest, etc.)
• Have signs of diabetes worsening
• Have signs of liver failure, especially in patients that have history with overuse of alcohol
• Have signs of muscle breakdown, or kidney function decreasing
• Start taking new medications, vitamins, or supplements.
