Angiotensin II receptor blockers or ARBs are a group of angiotensin antagonist medications. They are represented by orally active agents losartan, valsartan, Telmisartan, candesartan and other ARBs. They are commonly used to treat hypertension and can be beneficial for chronic kidney disease and heart failure as well. Another group in angiotensin antagonist class is "Angiontensin converting enzyme inhibitors" or "ACE inhibitors". Usually, these two types of drugs are compared and the most appropriate drug is chosen based on their possible side effects.
