Statins are medications used to reduce or lower cholesterol and work by inhibiting synthesis of cholesterol. However, their use has been demonstrated to cause some adverse effects including muscle pain, muscle weakness, liver damage kidney damage, type 2 diabetes, nausea, constipation, diarrhea, memory problem, headache, dizziness, fatigue, insomnia, hepatitis, sexual problems, skin rash and hair loss.
