Dr. Hsin-Yi Huang, a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in the School of Pharmacy at the National Taiwan University in Taipei, shares insights from her article appearing in the November 2023 issue of Mayo Clinic Proceedings, where she found that although ticagrelor and clopidogrel have comparable results, ticagrelor has a higher risk of intracranial hemorrhage, and thus clinicians should use caution when prescribing it to acute myocardial infarction patients with a prior history of ischemic stroke.
