Spiolto Respimat contains two active substances called tiotropium and olodaterol. These belong to a group of medicines called long-acting bronchodilators. Spiolto Respimat is used to relieve symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder in adults, as well as severe asthma.

The active ingredients in Spiolto Respimat work together in two different ways:

1) Tiotropium works in the lungs, where it blocks receptors called muscarinic receptors that are found on the muscle surrounding the airways. This allows the muscle around the airways to relax and the airways to open, making it easier to breathe.

2) Olodaterol acts on special receptors in the lungs. It stimulates these receptors and causes the muscles in the airways to relax. This allows the airways to open.
