Attorney Gerard Ryan of Parker Waichman talks about how women everywhere have come to rely on birth control options such as Yaz and Yasmin, but are they safe?

This generation of birth control pills includes a hormone called drospirenone. The hormone is a diuretic and slows the blood flow of your body. This complication has led to heart attacks, strokes, and even death for patients using Yaz or Yasmin. The drug can also cause a condition called deep vein thrombosis (commonly referred to as DVT). What this condition does is throw blood clots throughout the body and this blocks blood flow to vital organs. Blood clots can be extremely severe and lead to death in a number of cases.
