Your Medication Zolpidem
Zolpidem is also known as the brand names: Ambien, Edular, Intermezzo, and Zolpimist.
Zolpidem comes in 5 and 10mg tablets, 6.25 and 12.5mg controlled-release tablets, 1.75, 3.5, 5, and 10mg sublingual tablets, and also as a 5mg/actuation spray.
Zolpidem is most commonly used for sleep problems. This medication is best taken on an empty stomach at bedtime, and it works best if you are able to get a full night’s sleep (7-8 hours) before needing to be active again.
Standard dosing of zolpidem ranges from 5m to 10mg nightly.
Some common side effects with zolpidem include headache, drowsiness, dizziness, anxiety, and abnormal dreams.
• This medication has also been known to cause people to have sleep problems, such as doing activities during their sleep and not being aware of what they are doing
o Some activities include but are not limited to: walking, driving, and cooking.
Some less common side effects include upset stomach, diarrhea, and feeling tired or weak.
The best way to store zolpidem:
• Store at room temperature.
• Protect from light
• Store in a dry place. Do not store in a bathroom or refrigerator.
• Keep all drugs in a safe place. Keep all drugs out of the reach of children and pets.
• Check with your pharmacist about how to throw out unused drugs
When taking zolpidem, remember it is important to tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have:
• Signs of an allergic reaction, such as rash, itching, swelling, or tightness of the chest
• Depression
• Trouble swallowing
• Trouble breathing, slow breathing, or shallow breathing
• Hallucinations
• Change in balance
• Change in eyesight
• Memory problems or memory loss
