Aimovig (Erenumab)
Aimovig is a brand-name and the generic is Erenumab. In May 2018 it was the first CGRP which Works on receptor site. It blocks CGRP thereby blocks a migraine. It is given once a month at 70 to 140 mg subcutaneously that is under the skin. The half-life is 28 days. The side effects are Injection site reaction, constipation, some hypertension. Contraindications are hypersensitive reaction to the medicine or anaphylaxis and then you edema for me to discontinue the medicine and seek medical advice right away. Constipation is a major problem. You can keep it in the refrigerator but if you leave it outside the room temperature for seven days it’s OK beyond that you need to discard the medicine. It has excellent track record of preventing the migraine. It is a monoclonal antibody. It is for migraine prophylaxis or migraine prevention.
