Many people stop taking very important medicine called metformin if there is CKD or slight rise in creatinine. In fact, it should only be stopped if GFR is less than 30-45 and it does not cause kidney damage. It may cause lactic acidosis if there is advanced CKD or GFR less than 30 and fortunately IT IS RARE.
