Botox Side Effects

If you are considering trying Botox injections watch this video to learn some of the most commonly reported side effects from Botox injections. You will also be given some reliable online sources to research before deciding to try Botox.

Moira McCarthy: Hi, I'm Moira McCarthy of Whole Body Health for this segment of Ask The Acupuncturist. Many people have asked me how BOTOX and what some of the side effects are from BOTOX. I went online and did some research, and I found this site through the National Institutes of Health called MedlinePlus. I'm just going to read their definition of what BOTOX is.
BOTOX is a drug made from the toxin botulinum. It's the same toxin that causes life-threatening food poisoning called botulism. Doctors use this toxin in very small doses to treat various health conditions, including temporarily smoothing different wrinkles on the skin. BOTOX injections work by weakening or paralyzing the muscles in the face, thereby smoothing out the wrinkles. The effects last from three to five months by the statistics I could look up.
Most of the commonly reported side effects include pain, swelling, or bruising at the injection site. You can also get flu-like symptoms, nausea, headaches, upset stomach. Injections of the face may also cause temporary drooping of the eyelids, double or blurred vision, and swelling of the eyelids or dry eyes.
I had a client relay to me that she had go into get a facial and they were running a BOTOX special. She really wasn't that interested but the gal kind of talked her into go ahead and trying it. Something went wrong. She told me that either they did the injections too deep in the forehead or they used too much, but her forehead dropped and her eyebrows went together. She said she looked like Frankenstein. She was mortified.
Another side effect that I found was you could have allergic reactions to the BOTOX. That includes itching, red rash, red welts, wheezing, asthma symptoms, dizziness, and fainting. They say on the official BOTOX Cosmetic website, if you have the latter, either dizziness, fainting, or shortness of breath, this could be serious, and to call your doctor right away or seek medical attention.
Here at Whole Body Health we offer a drug-free alternative to BOTOX. We call it the Acu-Lift. We use very fine little acupuncture needles that we place in various areas of the face concerned. What it does is it triggers a healing reaction, which stimulates elastin and collagen. It also brings blood and oxygen to the skin. What that does is it reduces fine lines, minimizes the lines. It gives the skin a nice kind of youthful glow. It also gives a little lift to the eye, cheek, and jaw line. You get the entire face. You also get the additional benefits of acupuncture, which is balancing the body to obtain optimal wellness.
We also have a needle-free alternative called the Jade Microcurrent Facial. It does a lot of the same benefits as the Acu-Lift. They effects, again, last three to five years vs. three to five months. If you're interested you can give us a call today to find out more. If you mention BOTOX side affects you will get 20% off your first treatment. Give us a call today at 512-328-5200.

Summary:
1. Minor Side Effects
The good thing about botox injections is they are considered one of the safest cosmetic and corrective procedures. The majority of side effects caused by botox injections are temporary. They fade away within days, or last just as long as the botox treatment itself, which is three to six months.

2. Dry Eyes And Droopy Eyelids
Experts claim that when botox is injected around the Orbicularis muscle, it can cause dry eyes. Orbicularis muscles are responsible for the opening and closing of the eyelids. Due to the inability to close eyelids completely, you may experience dry eyes.

3. Excessive Tearing
While botox is a common corrective procedure for people with teary eyes, it can have the opposite effect as well. Botox injections might spread a little beyond the injection site. For this reason, a small, highly concentrated botox dose may be used when working near the eyes. Large diluted doses have a higher risk of spreading.

4. Uneven Eyebrows
These are among the most hated of side effects. After all, who wants to wear a surprised expression every waking minute? I would hate it too if I end up looking like Cruella from 101 Dalmations after a botched botox procedure.

What are the side effects of Botulinum toxin?- Dr. Rajdeep Mysore
What are the side effects of Botulinum toxin?- Dr. Rajdeep Mysore Side Effects 3 Views • 5 months ago

Food poisoning is caused by a bacteria called clostridium botulinum. It is one of the bacteria that can cause food poisoning. This bacteria produces a toxin that paralyses the muscles. So this toxin is called as botulinum toxin. The first company that made it is called botox and this was used to treat squint. So children with squint were treated by ophthalmologists using botox and they noticed that when they treated slightly older people with wrinkles with squint, they noticed that it also improved the wrinkles, which was a side effect. Later botox became much more popular as a cosmetic treatment to treat wrinkles and to give a glow to the skin. There are lot of application of botox other than antiageing , we use it to treat sweating, cerebral palsy and so many other disorders. Since botox is used for treatment as a very low dose, it has almost no side effects. The only side effects that can be expected with botox are botox toxins spreads to areas which it is not used to spread to. For example if we treat for the brow and if it spreads to the eyelid muscles, then the person cannot open their eyelids. So drooping of eyelids is the most commonest side effect, it is reversible also as botox gets degraded naturally in the body. Even if drooping occurs, it gets resolved. Even if drooping occurs, the effects last or about 3 to 6 weeks and the effect of botox on other muscles last for 6 to 9 months.

Let’s talk about botox—is it safe? Botox is an injection of a deadly bacteria called botulinum. This bacteria is a neurotoxin. In fact, it’s one of the most poisonous toxins known. Just 1 gram of this stuff could kill 1 million people.

Botox blocks the nerves that go to the muscle that’s injected. You’re no longer going to contract that muscle.

Botox is considered safe, but from 1989-2003 the FDA reported:
• 1437 adverse events
• 217 serious effects
• 28 deaths

Botox is given in very small amounts in certain parts of the body. You would want to make sure that the person injecting it is extremely competent with a lot of experience.

The DANGEROUS Bisoprolol Side Effect You Need to Know About
The DANGEROUS Bisoprolol Side Effect You Need to Know About Side Effects 1 Views • 5 months ago

Bisoprolol side effects

Bisoprolol, a beta-blocker commonly prescribed to manage various cardiovascular conditions, exhibits a range of therapeutic effects. However, like any medication, it is crucial for patients and healthcare professionals to be aware of potential side effects associated with its use.

One of the primary purposes of bisoprolol is to reduce blood pressure and relieve strain on the heart by blocking the effects of stress hormones like adrenaline. While this can be highly beneficial for individuals with conditions such as hypertension or heart failure, it is important to recognize and monitor potential side effects that may arise.

Common side effects of bisoprolol include fatigue, dizziness, and a slower heart rate. These effects are often mild and transient, particularly when the body adjusts to the medication. It is not uncommon for patients to experience these symptoms initially, but they tend to diminish over time.

A more serious but less frequent side effect is hypotension or low blood pressure. Individuals taking bisoprolol should be cautious when standing up, especially after periods of rest, to avoid dizziness or fainting. If persistent low blood pressure occurs, a healthcare professional should be consulted to assess the appropriateness of the dosage.

Additionally, beta-blockers like bisoprolol may cause changes in blood glucose levels, particularly in individuals with diabetes. It's important for diabetic patients to monitor their blood sugar regularly and communicate any significant fluctuations to their healthcare provider for appropriate management.

While bisoprolol is generally well-tolerated, some individuals may experience adverse reactions related to the respiratory system. Bronchospasm, characterized by wheezing or difficulty breathing, may occur, particularly in patients with pre-existing respiratory conditions such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). If these symptoms manifest, immediate medical attention is essential.

Bisoprolol's impact on lipid metabolism is another aspect to consider. It may lead to alterations in cholesterol and triglyceride levels, though the clinical significance of these changes is a subject of ongoing research and discussion. Regular monitoring of lipid profiles is advisable, especially in patients with existing lipid disorders.

Moreover, beta-blockers, including bisoprolol, may affect mental alertness and cognitive function. Some individuals may report vivid dreams, difficulty concentrating, or mood changes. While these effects are generally mild, patients should communicate any concerns to their healthcare provider for appropriate guidance.

It is crucial for individuals taking bisoprolol to inform their healthcare provider of any pre-existing medical conditions, ongoing treatments, or allergies. Certain medical conditions, such as heart conduction disorders or severe bradycardia (slow heart rate), may warrant caution or alternative treatment options.

In conclusion, bisoprolol is an effective medication for managing cardiovascular conditions, but it is not without potential side effects. Regular communication between patients and healthcare providers is essential to monitor and manage any adverse reactions effectively. Patients should be proactive in reporting changes in symptoms or any concerns, and healthcare professionals should conduct regular assessments to ensure the medication's continued safety and efficacy for each individual patient.

Beta Blockers: Pharmacology, Side Effects, Indications, and Contraindications | Full Guide
Beta Blockers: Pharmacology, Side Effects, Indications, and Contraindications | Full Guide Side Effects 3 Views • 5 months ago

In this video, we explore beta blockers, a class of medications commonly used to treat a variety of cardiovascular conditions. Whether you're a healthcare professional, student, or someone interested in learning more about beta blockers, this comprehensive guide will cover their pharmacology, uses, side effects, and contraindications.

What are Beta Blockers?
Beta blockers, also known as beta-adrenergic antagonists, are medications that block the effects of the hormone epinephrine (adrenaline) and norepinephrine on beta receptors. These drugs primarily act on the beta-1 receptors in the heart, reducing heart rate and the force of contraction, which ultimately lowers blood pressure. Some beta blockers also affect beta-2 receptors in the lungs and blood vessels.

Pharmacology of Beta Blockers
Beta blockers work by inhibiting the action of catecholamines (like adrenaline) on the beta receptors in the heart and blood vessels. By blocking these receptors, they:

Decrease heart rate (negative chronotropy)
Reduce the force of heart contractions (negative inotropy)
Lower blood pressure
Reduce oxygen demand by the heart, making them useful in conditions like angina
Block certain arrhythmias and stabilize the heart's rhythm
These effects make beta blockers beneficial in managing conditions like hypertension, heart failure, arrhythmias, and others.

Indications for Beta Blocker Use
Beta blockers are prescribed for a wide range of cardiovascular and non-cardiovascular conditions, including:

Hypertension (high blood pressure)
Angina (chest pain)
Heart failure (especially with reduced ejection fraction)
Atrial fibrillation (to control heart rate)
Myocardial infarction (heart attack) prevention
Arrhythmias, such as ventricular tachycardia
Post-surgical recovery (e.g., after heart surgery)
Migraines (in some cases, as a preventive treatment)
Side Effects of Beta Blockers
While beta blockers are generally well-tolerated, they can cause a range of side effects, including:

Fatigue or tiredness
Dizziness or lightheadedness
Bradycardia (slow heart rate)
Cold extremities (e.g., hands and feet)
Shortness of breath (especially with non-selective beta blockers)
Sexual dysfunction (e.g., erectile dysfunction)
Sleep disturbances or vivid dreams
Hypoglycemia (in patients with diabetes, as beta blockers can mask symptoms)
Elevated blood sugar (in some cases)
Contraindications for Beta Blocker Use
Certain individuals should avoid beta blockers or use them with caution:

Severe bradycardia (very slow heart rate)
Second- or third-degree heart block (without a pacemaker)
Asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) (especially with non-selective beta blockers, which can constrict airways)
Severe peripheral arterial disease
Severe depression (beta blockers may worsen mood in some individuals)
Hypotension (low blood pressure)
Pregnancy (some beta blockers are contraindicated, particularly in the first trimester)
Conclusion
Beta blockers are an essential tool in the treatment of a variety of heart-related and other conditions. However, like all medications, they must be used appropriately, and patients should be monitored for potential side effects or contraindications. Understanding their pharmacology and applications can help optimize their benefits and minimize risks.

Bisoprolol (Concor, Zebeta) - Use, Dose, Side Effects - Doctor Explains
Bisoprolol (Concor, Zebeta) - Use, Dose, Side Effects - Doctor Explains Side Effects 3 Views • 5 months ago

In this video we will cover everything you need to know about Bisoprolol, also known as Concor. We will discuss how and when to use it, we will cover its side effects, dosage and much, much more.

You can find more useful videos on cardiovascular diseases and their treatments here:
https://www.youtube.com/playli....st?list=PLaG3Bo3L0gX

Generic name: Bisoprolol.
Brand names: Concor and Zebeta.
Available as a tablet.

How to use it?
- Tablet: just swallow it whole with half a glass of water.
It is best to take this medicine at fixed times. This will make you less likely to forget a dose.

When to use it?
Bisoprolol is part of a group of drugs called beta blockers. These reduce the workload on your heart and widen your blood vessels, causing your heart to beat slower and with less force. Therefore Bisoprolol can be used to treat; A high blood pressure, angina pectoris and chronic heart failure.

What is the correct dosage?
The precise dose will depend on your specific indication of use, the side effect you might experience and the severity of your symptoms. Therefore always use the precise amount and frequency your doctor prescribed you.
- However, in adults, most doctors will start with an initial dose of 1.25 mg 1×/day for 1 week. If this is tolerated well, the dose might be increased weekly by 1,25mg up to 5mg 1x/day. From there the dose can be increased every 4 weeks with 2,5mg up to a max. of 10mg per day.

What are the side-effects?
- Very common (10%): slow heart rate.
- Common (1-10%): Increase in heart failure, dizziness, headache, fatigue, low blood pressure, cold hands or feet, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and constipation.
- Uncommon (0.1-1%): conduction disturbances, low blood pressure, muscle weakness, cramps, sleep disturbance and depression.
- Rare (0.01-0.1%): hearing impairment, allergic reaction, loss of consciousness, hot flashes, erectile dysfunction, nightmare and hallucination.
- Very rare (0.01%): Increase of psoriasis, rash and hair loss.

Safety:
The first days of using bisoprolol it can lead to dizziness or fatigue. Please do not drive while experiencing this.
Furthermore, alcohol widens the blood vessels. It can therefore increase the side effect of dizziness at the beginning of treatment. Try drinking alcohol in moderation first so you can estimate its effects.
Bisoprolol can also have interactions with other drugs you are taking. Always discuss this with your prescribing doctor.
Lastly, bisoprolol could be dangerous for pregnant women and women who are breastfeeding. Therefore always discuss this with your personal doctor.

Today, we'll delve into the intricacies of laxative use, discussing what to expect and how to manage potential side effects.

Understanding Laxatives:
Laxatives are a common over-the-counter remedy for relieving constipation. They work by promoting bowel movements, but like any medication, they may come with side effects that vary from person to person.

Common Types of Laxatives:

Bulk-forming Laxatives: Increase stool bulk for easier passage.
Stimulant Laxatives: Trigger contractions in the intestines to move stool.
Osmotic Laxatives: Draw water into the intestines to soften stool.
Common Side Effects:

Diarrhea: One of the most common side effects, laxatives can lead to loose and watery stools.
Cramps and Abdominal Pain: Stimulant laxatives may cause cramps as they stimulate intestinal contractions.
Dehydration: Osmotic laxatives can lead to fluid loss, potentially causing dehydration.
Electrolyte Imbalance: Prolonged use of laxatives may disturb the balance of essential electrolytes in the body.
Dependency: Regular use of laxatives can lead to the body becoming reliant on them for bowel movements.
Managing Side Effects:

Stay Hydrated: Counteract the dehydrating effects by drinking plenty of water.
Balanced Diet: Ensure a diet rich in fiber to promote regular bowel movements naturally.
Limit Use: Avoid prolonged and excessive use of laxatives to prevent dependency.
Consult a Healthcare Professional: If side effects persist or worsen, seek advice from a healthcare professional.
Precautions and Considerations:
Before using laxatives, it's important to consider certain precautions.

Underlying Conditions: Individuals with certain medical conditions should consult a healthcare professional before using laxatives.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should seek guidance from a healthcare provider before using laxatives.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, while laxatives can be effective for managing constipation, understanding their potential side effects is crucial. By being aware of what to expect and taking necessary precautions, individuals can use laxatives responsibly to achieve digestive relief.
