Mupirocina, cuándo y cómo debemos aplicarla. Tu Farmacéutico Informa
Mupirocina, cuándo y cómo debemos aplicarla. Tu Farmacéutico Informa Side Effects 3 Views • 5 months ago

Moxifloxacin and dexamethasone eye drop belongs to the class of ‘antibiotics’ used to treat inflammation associated with bacterial eye infections. It treats eye infections like conjunctivitis (infected conjunctiva) and other inflammatory conditions after eye surgery.
Moxifloxacin and dexamethasone eye drop is a combination of two medicines: Moxifloxacin (antibiotic) and Dexamethasone (steroid). Moxifloxacin is an antibiotic that stops bacteria from making a copy of their genetic material (DNA), thereby killing and stopping the growth of bacterial infection. Dexamethasone is a steroid that reduces inflammation and symptoms associated with infection such as redness and irritation by inhibiting the natural substance like prostaglandins that cause inflammation. Thus together Moxifloxacin and dexamethasone eye drop prevents spread of redness, allergies, inflammation and bacterial infection in the eyes.

Moxifloxacin Eye Drops: Uses, Dosage, Mechanism, Side Effects, and Important Advice | MediInsights
Moxifloxacin Eye Drops: Uses, Dosage, Mechanism, Side Effects, and Important Advice | MediInsights Side Effects 0 Views • 5 months ago

Welcome to MediInsights, where we unlock the wonders of wellness! In today's video, we delve into the world of Moxifloxacin Eye Drops. Join us as we explore everything you need to know about this powerful medication, including its uses, dosage guidelines, mechanism of action, potential side effects, and essential advice for safe usage.

What are Moxifloxacin Eye Drops?
Moxifloxacin Eye Drops are a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections of the eye, such as bacterial conjunctivitis. This medication is highly effective due to its ability to target a wide range of bacteria, making it a go-to choice for eye infections.

Uses of Moxifloxacin Eye Drops:
These eye drops are primarily prescribed for bacterial eye infections. By inhibiting bacterial growth, Moxifloxacin helps alleviate symptoms like redness, irritation, and discharge, providing relief and promoting healing.

Dosage of Moxifloxacin Eye Drops:
Typically, the dosage is one drop in the affected eye(s) three times a day for seven days. It's crucial to follow your healthcare provider's instructions for the best results and to ensure the infection is completely eradicated.

Mechanism of Action:
Moxifloxacin works by blocking bacterial topoisomerase II (DNA gyrase) and topoisomerase IV, enzymes necessary for bacterial DNA processes. This disruption halts bacterial replication and repair, leading to the death of the bacteria and resolution of the infection.

Side Effects:
While Moxifloxacin is generally well-tolerated, some common side effects include:

Eye irritation
Dryness
Redness
Tearing
Rare but serious side effects can include severe allergic reactions, eye pain, vision changes, and severe eye irritation. Seek medical attention if you experience any of these severe symptoms.

Important Advice for Using Moxifloxacin Eye Drops:
Complete the Course: Ensure you finish the full course of the medication, even if symptoms improve, to prevent antibiotic resistance.
Avoid Contamination: Do not touch the dropper tip to any surface, including your eye, to maintain sterility.

Be careful not to touch the dropper to the infected area to prevent contamination. Wash hands before and after use.
Some common side effects of moxifloxacin are red eye, dry eye, eye discomfort or irritation, tearing of the eyes, and vision problems.
A less common side effect of moxifloxacin is a serious allergic reaction to the drug. Symptoms include: rash, itching/swelling, dizziness, or trouble breathing.
While taking moxifloxacin, it is important to tell your doctor or pharmacist if:
• You have short-term pain after use that is persistent
• You have dry eyes that does not go away
• You experience signs or symptoms that a severe allergic reaction is taking place, such as rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or trouble breathing
• You start taking new medications, vitamins, or supplements
• Your condition does not improve in a few days or if you develop new or worsening eye symptoms.

OTC: NSAIDs
OTC: NSAIDs Side Effects 5 Views • 5 months ago

Headaches, body pains, and swelling can all be caused by inflammation in the body. Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs, or NSAIDs, can be purchased over the counter to relieve inflammation and pain. Today I will tell you about OTC NSAID medications like ibuprofen and naproxen.

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are used to provide pain relief and reduce inflammation. Ibuprofen is the NSAID in several over the counter products like Motrin, Advil, and Pamprin. Naproxen is the active ingredient in Aleve immediate release and extended release products. They are both ingredients in many combination medications. Liquid formulations are available for children who cannot swallow pills. Always follow the directions on the package and talk to your pharmacist to make sure you give your child the correct dose.

Ibuprofen comes in 200 mg tablets. When using this strength, you usually take 1 to 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours as needed. Do not take more than 16 tablets in one day.

Naproxen is also available in 200 mg tablets. Usually you take 1 tablet every 8 to 12 hours. Do not take more than 3 tablets in one day.

Take NSAIDs with a snack or milk to avoid an upset stomach. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking NSAIDs. The most common side effects are stomach upset, diarrhea, heartburn, and nausea.

Do not take these medications if you are allergic to NSAIDs or any other ingredient.

Talk to your pharmacist before taking an NSAID if you have any stomach or intestine conditions, are pregnant, or take any other medications (including other OTCs).

Always follow the instructions on the package unless instructed otherwise. Do not take more of an NSAID than instructed by the package or a healthcare professional.

Call your pharmacist or doctor right away if you have unusual bleeding or bruising, high blood pressure, weakness, dizziness, chest pain, swelling, or skin reactions while taking an NSAID.

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications like ibuprofen and naproxen are used to relieve pain and inflammation. Talk to your pharmacist to make sure that you have an appropriate medication and dose. They are there to help you find the best over the counter medication for you!
