Furosemide/Frusemide (Lasix): Diuretic Drug (Water Pill) For Fluid Accumulation and Kidney Disease

https://www.medindia.net/docto....rs/drug_information/

Furosemide is a loop diuretic works by helping the kidneys draw or excrete excess fluid or water and salt from the body.

Furosemide is prescribed for treating edema or fluid accumulation in the body associated with the kidney disease including nephrotic syndrome, congestive heart failure, and liver cirrhosis.

Furosemide is also used to treat high blood pressure. It is highly useful, particularly when a more diuretic potential is required. Furosemide is used as supportive therapy in treating acute pulmonary edema (fluid accumulation in the lungs).

Potassium chloride supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics such as spironolactone or amiloride should be given to avoid the loss of potassium.

Sleep would be disturbed if furosemide is taken at night and therefore should be avoided at night time.

Please help us translate this video in your language to make it more universal and useful to your language community. We present useful and essential information on the drug furosemide that everyone should know when taking this drug. Use Medindia drug information to check drug to drug interactions if you are taking more than one drug.

Lantus Side Effects! With Better Options!
Lantus Side Effects! With Better Options! Side Effects 2 Views • 5 months ago

In this video I want to share some of the worst side effects of the drug Lantus, as well as give you a few other options.

Today, diabetes takes more lives than AIDS and breast cancer combined. Diabetes to put it simply is when the body has a hard time creating enough insulin to deal with blood sugar.

The drug Lantus is used to treat people with diabetes by physically injecting insulin into their body.
But there is a big catch. What do you think this catch is? Yep it's not the same insulin that your body creates, it's different, it's foreign.

So, the million dollar question is does that matter? Take a step back from the information overload of the internet and think about this. What do you think? For example Trans fats are man made fat. Instead of normal fats being used in cells trans fats get used and this makes cells weaker and causes all kinds of problems. I would say their is some similarities.

We all know trans fats are unhealthy.

Know back to Lantus. One of the nasty side effects someone can experience with this drug is cancer. The journal of Diabetologia recently published 4 studies. 3 of those studies showed an increase risk for cancer when taking this drug.

Another common side effect is having too low of blood sugar, this could cause trouble concentrating, irritability, trouble breathing and even fainting or possibly seizures.

Also, your body being the smart machine it is may reject the drug and an allergic reaction could take place.

Lastly it is an expensive drug and it will create a bunch of free radicals as it breaks down in the body.

You might be wondering, well is their a better options. 1 idea you could look into would be a plant called Purslane in a 12 week placebo controlled study people with type 2 diabetes who added 180 mg of this herb had a 44% improvement in their blood sugar levels.

Of course I have to talk about changing your diet, which I'm sure you already know to help with diabetes. Maybe cut back on the food that tastes really, really good.

Exercise is another thing. Generally it lowers blood pressure, as well as blood sugar levels. Usually it stays lower for the next 24 to 48 hours.

There are many other ideas when it comes to alternative medicine. It's less expensive, healthier no cancer or nasty side effects.

Insulin Mechanism and Side Effects
Insulin Mechanism and Side Effects Side Effects 4 Views • 5 months ago

Insulin is a peptide hormone that plays a crucial role in regulating blood sugar (glucose) levels in the body. It is produced by the beta cells of the pancreas, which are located in clusters known as the islets of Langerhans. Insulin helps control glucose metabolism by facilitating its uptake into cells, where it can be used for energy or stored for later use.

Here are some key points about insulin:

1. Glucose Regulation: When you consume carbohydrates, your digestive system breaks them down into glucose, which enters the bloodstream. Elevated blood glucose levels trigger the release of insulin from the pancreas. Insulin enables glucose to enter various cells in the body, such as muscle, fat, and liver cells, where it can be used as a source of energy or stored as glycogen (a form of stored glucose).

2. Anabolic Hormone: Insulin is often referred to as an anabolic hormone because it promotes the synthesis of molecules, such as proteins and fats, and inhibits their breakdown. In muscle cells, insulin helps promote the uptake of amino acids for protein synthesis, aiding in muscle growth and repair.

3. Diabetes: Diabetes is a medical condition characterized by impaired insulin production or inadequate response to insulin. There are two main types of diabetes:
- Type 1 Diabetes: In this autoimmune condition, the immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas. People with type 1 diabetes require insulin injections or use of insulin pumps to manage their blood sugar levels.
- Type 2 Diabetes: This is characterized by insulin resistance, where the body's cells become less responsive to insulin. Over time, the pancreas may struggle to produce enough insulin to overcome this resistance. Type 2 diabetes is often managed through lifestyle changes, oral medications, and in some cases, insulin therapy.

4. Insulin Administration: Insulin can be administered through injections using insulin pens, syringes, or insulin pumps. The method and frequency of administration depend on the type of diabetes and the individual's specific needs.

5. Hyperglycemia and Hypoglycemia: Insufficient insulin or inadequate response to insulin can lead to high blood sugar levels, a condition known as hyperglycemia. Conversely, taking too much insulin or not consuming enough carbohydrates can lead to low blood sugar levels, a condition called hypoglycemia. Both hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia can have serious health consequences if not managed properly.

6. Research and Development: Research continues to advance our understanding of insulin's role in the body and how to improve its administration. There have been efforts to develop alternative insulin delivery methods, such as inhalable insulin, to make treatment more convenient for individuals with diabetes.

Insulin is a critical hormone that helps regulate energy metabolism and maintain stable blood sugar levels. Its discovery and subsequent development as a treatment for diabetes have had a significant impact on the lives of millions of people worldwide.

Lansoprazole is a medication used to treat a variety of stomach-related conditions, including acid reflux, heartburn, and ulcers. It is a type of proton pump inhibitor, meaning it works by reducing the amount of acid produced by the stomach. As a result, it can be used to relieve symptoms associated with stomach acid, such as chest pain, trouble swallowing, and nausea. In this guide, we’ll explore the benefits and uses of lansoprazole, as well as some possible side effects and drug interactions. We’ll also provide some tips for taking the medication safely and effectively. With the help of this guide, you can make informed decisions about your treatment and get the most out of lansoprazole.
What is Lansoprazole?.
Lansoprazole is a medication used to reduce stomach acid production and is available both over-the-counter and by prescription. It belongs to a class of drugs known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), which block acid-producing pumps in the stomach. By reducing the amount of acid in the stomach, lansoprazole can help relieve symptoms of acid reflux and other stomach-related problems. It is also used to treat ulcers and other conditions caused by too much acid in the stomach.
Lansoprazole is available in both immediate-release and delayed-release tablets. The immediate-release tablets are taken once a day, while the delayed-release tablets are taken once a day or every other day, depending on your doctor's instructions. It is important to take lansoprazole exactly as prescribed. Taking too much lansoprazole can cause serious side effects.
Benefits of Lansoprazole.
Lansoprazole is used to treat a variety of stomach-related conditions, including acid reflux, heartburn, and ulcers. It is a type of proton pump inhibitor, meaning it works by reducing the amount of acid produced by the stomach. This can help relieve symptoms associated with stomach acid, such as chest pain, trouble swallowing, and nausea.
In addition to relieving symptoms, lansoprazole can also help reduce the risk of developing stomach ulcers. Studies have shown that lansoprazole can reduce the risk of developing stomach ulcers by up to 80%. This can be especially beneficial for those taking medications that can increase the risk of developing ulcers, such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
Lansoprazole can also help reduce the risk of complications from stomach ulcers. Studies have shown that lansoprazole can reduce the risk of complications from stomach ulcers, such as bleeding, by up to 75%.
Uses of Lansoprazole.
Lansoprazole is used to treat a variety of stomach-related conditions, including acid reflux, heartburn, and ulcers. It is most commonly used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a condition in which stomach acid refluxes into the esophagus. Lansoprazole can help reduce the symptoms of GERD, such as heartburn, chest pain, and trouble swallowing.
Lansoprazole can also be used to treat ulcers in the stomach and small intestine. It can help reduce the symptoms of ulcers, such as stomach pain and difficulty eating.
Lansoprazole can also be used to reduce the risk of developing stomach ulcers in people taking medications that can increase the risk of developing ulcers, such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
Side Effects of Lansoprazole.
