Welcome back to How To Medicate and welcome to this video on how and when to use clindamycin. I already made several videos on different antibiotics and if you are interested you can find those in the playlist here:
https://www.youtube.com/playli....st?list=PLaG3Bo3L0gX
Generic name: Clindamycin.
Brand names: Dalacin, Cleocin and Clinacin.
Available as: powder for oral suspension, capsules and injections.
How to use it?
Swallow the capsule whole with half a glass of water. Don’t break it or chew on it.
If you are using the suspension, than resolve the powder in half a glass of water and drink it.
Take it after or while eating some food. Also make sure to take it on fixed times. This lowers your chances on missing a dose.
Duration of treatment?
Usually 5 to 14 days, but it can be up to several months.
It is important that you do not interrupt the treatment and finish it completely.
When to use it?
Clindamycine is used for ”serious” infections caused by micro-organisms sensitive to clindamycin.
What is the correct dosage?
Always use the dosage and frequency prescribed by your own doctor.
General guideline for adults using capsules or oral suspensions: 150 mg every 6 hours.
In severe infections this can be increased to max. 600 mg every 8 hours.
Forgotten a dose?
Does it take less than 4 hours till your next dose? Than skip the dose you missed and take the forgotten dose at the end of your treatment.
What are the side-effects?
Very common (more than 10%): nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea.
Common (1-10%): inflammation of the mouth, esophagus or intestines, stomach pain, and a rash.
Safety:
You can combine clindamycin with any type of food and even with alcohol. However it can have some interactions with other drugs. Therefore always ask your prescribing doctor if clindamycine is safe for you to use.
It is also important you don’t use clindamycin if you are hypersensitive to lincomycins.
Pregnancy and Lactation:
It is “probably safe”. However, rarely it can have some negative consequences.
So discuss with your prescribing doctor is it is strictly necessary to use clindamycin and if there are better/safe options.

In this video, I want to talk about one of the best natural antihistamines that you can get.
You should try this natural remedy if you have symptoms such as:
• Sinus congestion
• Mucus in the lungs
• Hives
• Rashes
• Itching
• Asthma
• Allergies
The best antihistamine is quercetin.
Quercetin Benefits:
• Antioxidant properties
• Anti-inflammatory properties
• Powerful natural antihistamine
There are a lot of different foods high in quercetin, such as:
• Capers
• Radish leaves
• Carob
• Dill
• Cilantro
• Fennel
• Red onion - outer
• Kale
However, if you have sinus congestion, seasonal allergies, or any of the symptoms mentioned above, you may be better off taking a quercetin supplement.
For severe symptoms:
• If it’s in a powder, you may want to take 1 tsp.
• If it’s a tablet, you may want to take 1000 mg 4 times a day.

Dr. Julie Brown, Carrick trained concussion doctor, board-certified chiropractic neurologist and fellow in traumatic brain injury and rehabilitation. It is almost spring here. In fact, we spring our hours forward this weekend. But it's almost spring, and pollen, histamines start reacting in people. I just want to talk about antihistamines. I can't prescribe these things, and nor do I want to. A histamine ... it's a complex reaction, and one of the things that it does is, it wakes us up. It actually makes it hard to fall asleep. If pollen's everywhere and you're reacting to it, it may be harder for you to sleep at night just because we've now raised cortisol and we're awake. The goal would really be to break down those histamines to a more functional level to where they're not making your brain awake. My reason for this video is regarding antihistamines. Many of them, and I would just do a Google search and/or talk to your doctor about it, or your pharmacist ... many of them are anticholinergic.
That means that their mechanism is that they go up and they dock at the end of a neuron that uses choline as a receptor, and many of our learning and memory neurons require choline. If you're taking antihistamines that are anticholinergic, you're actually blocking your ability to remember things. Imagine if you're a student trying to study for a test or you have to memorize something for your job and you're taking these things. It is making your job that much harder, plus it is not actually breaking down histamines and correcting the problem. There are other approaches to it, and you can have different genes, different exposures that create these cycles for histamine, and how they need to be broken down can be different for everybody. Make sure you talk to your doctor about your concerns and, honestly, hop on Google for that. Not for all of it, but just to get an idea to be able to have the conversation with your doctor. Let’s talk about how to get rid of histamines naturally.
Histamines are developed when you encounter something you’re allergic to, during an infection, or after an injury. Histamines are also in our food supply.
Symptoms of histamines can include:
• Mucus
• Sneezing
• Runny nose
• Itchy eyes
• Watery eyes
• Red eyes
Certain organs, like your liver and kidneys, have enzymes that help you break down histamines. It’s important to support your liver and kidneys to help get rid of histamines.
The best remedies for dealing with histamines are:
1. Grass-fed beef kidney extract
2. Grass-fed beef liver extract
3. Milk thistle
It’s also important to avoid consuming things high in histamines, including fermented foods and drinks.
