Zofran is an anti-sickness medicine used to relieve nausea and vomiting in patients following cancer treatment, or operations under general anaesthesia.
Serotonin is a natural chemical called a neurotransmitter found in the brain, which transmits signals between nerve cells in the body. Certain cancer therapies and surgeries can cause serotonin to be released in the body.
The specific kinds of serotonin these treatments can cause to release are found in the brain and gut. When there is an increase of this kind of serotonin, it sends messages to an area of the brain called the vomiting centre, making you feel nauseated.
Zofran dampens these nerve messages, alleviating feelings of sickness.

Watch more How to Pick a Birth Control Method videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/....510835-What-Is-Yaz-B
Learn what Yaz is in this Howcast video about birth control.
Yaz is a combined birth control pill that has both estrogen and drospirenone. You may not be familiar with the name drospirenone, but it causes the same effect on the lining of the uterus as progesterone, but the medication is different. If you are considering Yaz as a form of birth control, talk to your doctor or your nurse practitioner. Although it is a slightly different formulation than your everyday birth control pill, it is equally as effective as the birth control pills you're familiar with.
Some of you may be wondering what is the difference between Yaz and Yasmin. More importantly, what is the difference between Yaz, Yasmin, and the birth control pills that you may be taking? Yaz and Yasmin have estrogen, just like the regular birth control pills you're familiar with. The difference is that the Yaz and the Yazmin have drospirenone. That component of the birth control pill is different than the regular birth control pills you may be familiar with.
The difference between the Yaz and the Yasmin, however, although they both contain estrogen and drospirenone, the balance between estrogen and progesterone are different and the amount of active pills versus placebo pills are also different.
If you are considering Yaz and Yasmin as a form of birth control pills for you, you may want to talk to your doctor or nurse practitioner about the difference between the Yaz and Yasmin. They're both equally as effective as the regular birth control pills that you're familiar with, but it may be a better birth control option for you.

5 big reasons why Synthroid isn't helping you feel better. Synthroid is a VERY common low thyroid medication prescribed to treat hypothyroidism but only works if used correctly.
Are you taking the thyroid medication known as Synthroid? By the way, the information we are about to talk about ALSO applies to levothyroxine!
If so, then you should be aware that there are a number of reasons why this medication may NOT be working for you in your body.
Levothyroxine and Synthroid are some of the most commonly prescribed medications in the United States with levothyroxine making the #1 spot in 2016.
This means that there are a TON of people using these medications.
The problem with that is that most people using them are not actually getting the benefit of the medication for a number of issues.
We are going to talk about 5 REASONS that many people using Synthroid are NOT feeling well (and what you can do about it).
#1. Your dose.
The first, and probably most common, issue is that most people are simply taking an insufficient or low dose. If your dose is too low then you simply won't feel any better. Thyroid medication is used to SUPPLEMENT low levels of thyroid hormone in your body. You MUST be using the right dose if you want to feel better and you are most likely underdosed if you basing your dosing off of your TSH.
#2. Absorption.
It doesn't matter if you are taking Synthroid or levothyroxine if it isn't being absorbed into your body! You can take as much medication as you want but it's ineffective unless it makes it through your intestinal lining. Many gut-related issues such as irritable bowel syndrome, the use of acid blockers, and gut inflammation can LIMIT this absorption.
If you have any of these issues be sure that you take care of them if you want your medication to be effective.
#3. Conversion issues.
Next is something called peripheral thyroid conversion. In order for your Synthroid to work, it MUST be converted into the ACTIVE thyroid hormone known as T3.
What people don't realize is that up to 20% of the population has problems with this conversion process.
#4. The wrong medication.
There are some people in which Synthroid and levothyroxine simply will NOT work. This is because they can't convert the medication or they need a medication with fewer fillers or dyes. Either way, you should understand that Synthroid may not be the answer you are looking for and there are MANY other thyroid medications available.
#5. You're taking it wrong.
