Digoxin is used to treat heart failure and abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias). It helps the heart work better and it helps control your heart rate.
Digoxin is a medication used to manage and treat heart failure and certain arrhythmias, and abortion. It is in the cardiac glycoside class of drugs. This article outlines the indications, action, and contraindications for digoxin as a valuable agent in managing heart failure and certain arrhythmias
Digoxin is used to treat heart failure, usually along with other medications. It is also used to treat certain types of irregular heartbeat (such as chronic atrial fibrillation). Treating heart failure may help maintain your ability to walk and exercise and may improve the strength of your heart. Treating an irregular heartbeat can also improve your ability to exercise.Digoxin belongs to a class of medications called cardiac glycosides. It works by affecting certain minerals (sodium and potassium) inside heart cells. This reduces strain on the heart and helps it maintain a normal, steady, and strong heartbeat.
How to use Digoxin
Take this medication by mouth with or without food as directed by your doctor, usually once daily. If you are using the liquid form of this medication, carefully measure the dose using the dropper provided by the manufacturer. Do not use a household spoon because you may not get the correct dose.
Your body may not absorb this drug as well if you also eat foods that are high in fiber or if you take certain medications. Take this medication at least 2 hours before or after eating food products that are high in fiber (such as bran). If you are also taking cholestyramine, colestipol, or psyllium, wait at least 2 hours after taking your digoxin dose before taking any of these products. If you are taking antacids, kaolin-pectin, milk of magnesia, metoclopramide, sulfasalazine, or aminosalicylic acid, take them as far apart from your digoxin dose as possible. Ask your pharmacist if you are not sure when to take any of your medications.
The dosage of this medication is based on your medical condition, age, body weight, laboratory tests, and response to treatment.
Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, use it at the same time each day. Do not stop taking this medication without consulting your doctor. Some conditions may become worse when the drug is suddenly stopped.

Levothyroxine is the most commonly prescribed thyroid medication on the market and many people have no idea what kind of side effects it can cause.
Here's the list that every thyroid patient should know about if they are taking it:
1. Weight gain
2. Increased cancer risk
3. Hair loss
4. Dementia risk
5. Bone density concerns
The good news is that up to 30% of all thyroid patients reading this may be able to get off their thyroid medication, so these are not necessarily side effects that you have to suffer with forever.
If you like the idea of getting off using supplements to help you get off your thyroid medication, check out this video next: https://youtu.be/W8yRgZlX_k0?si=e6rLPR8-n-9YOjKT

Atenolol Side Effects and Mechanism of Action | Nursing Pharmacology
In this video, you'll learn the side effects of atenolol and atenolol's mechanism of action. This is a super simple way to learn pharmacology faster and easier in nursing school. It will help you understand the critical thinking and WHY behind the side effects, and how Atenolol actually works inside the body.
Mechanism of Action of Atenolol:
Atenolol decreases the blood pressure, heart rate, and cardiac conductivity. It does this by stimulating or occupying beta-1, or myocardial adrenergic receptor sites. These receptor sites are usually occupied by catecholamines like epinephrine and norepinephrine. When they are blocked by Atenolol it blocks their effect. Epinephrine, norepinephrine, and catecholamines usually cause an increase in cardiac conductivity, and since the effects are being blocked, it decreases the conductivity from the SA and AV node, which decreases heart rate and contractility of the heart.
Blocking these receptor sites also decreases the renin release which will decrease blood pressure as well. Since renin cannot be released from the kidneys, it prevents the renin angiotensin aldosterone system which would normally increase blood pressure, but since it is blocked it decreases blood pressure. There are also beta-2 receptor sites located in the lungs. They are usually not affected by atenolol since it blocks the stimulation of beta-1, not beta-2.
Side Effects of Atenolol:
Bradycardia, hypotension, dizziness, weakness and fatigue are common side effects of atenolol.
Atenolol is blocking the beta-1 adrenergic receptor sites in the heart. An easy way to remember side effects of a medication is to consider it working too well, in this case the heart rate and blood pressure have lowered TOO much, leading to those side effects.
