Oxycodone vs Hydrocodone: Which Drug is the Best for PAIN? Side Effects 2 Views • 5 months ago

Are you experiencing pain that’s affecting your daily life? Not sure which pain medication to ask your doctor about? Join Pharmacist Michael as he compares two commonly prescribed pain medications: oxycodone and hydrocodone. In this video, you'll learn about their effectiveness, side effects, and special considerations to help you make an informed decision. Plus, we’ll cover some natural pain relief methods to complement these medications.

🔍 Key Points:

Effectiveness: Oxycodone is more potent, making it suitable for severe pain but with higher abuse potential. Hydrocodone is effective for moderate to severe pain and is often combined with acetaminophen.

Side Effects: Common side effects include nausea, drowsiness, constipation, and dizziness. Oxycodone can cause more intense euphoria and severe constipation at higher doses.

Acetaminophen: Hydrocodone is available only in combination with acetaminophen in the US. Excessive acetaminophen can cause liver damage, so caution is needed.

Natural Pain Relief Methods: Explore physical therapy, hot and cold therapy, massage, acupuncture, mind-body techniques, diet, and supplements to complement your pain management plan.

🚨 Special Considerations:

Allergies and medical history should be discussed with your doctor before starting any medication.

Be mindful of drug interactions, especially with grapefruit juice, alcohol, and certain antidepressants.

📞 Consult Your Healthcare Provider:

Always consult with your healthcare provider to determine which medication is best for your particular condition and pain management needs.

Risperidone (Risperdal) REVIEW
Risperidone (Risperdal) REVIEW Side Effects 5 Views • 5 months ago

I review the anti-anxiety, as well as anti-psychotic medication Risperidone, the generic for Risperdal. Risperidone is used to treat anxiety and for people with more intense problems, bi-polar disorder and even schizophrenia. I was taking Risperidone for anxiety. In my opinion, and I am not a doctor or qualified medical professional in any way, I suggest to readjust your diet, consider if you are not getting enough nutrients at important times throughout the day (especially breakfast, if you are substituting morning meals for caffeine, which can deprive your brain of nutrients), as well as take a look at the privacy and well being of your current living situation, also your employment situation insofar as relationships at work or if it is a job that makes you happy. Also, I suggest that before starting medication to reevaluate your closest relationships in your life and if there is an imbalance that is causing you to have these problems or any possible outside influences that can be changed without the need for medication. Please consult a prescribing doctor, psychiatrist and psychologist to talk about this before deciding what treatment is right for you.

I cannot offer much advice, because I am not a doctor. However, if you have questions, please just watch the whole video and if you are interested my videos on Citalopram (Celexa) and Zoloft (Sertraline) at the above links. I offer insight to anyone taking this medicine or considering taking this medicine for anxiety, depression or other problems. I wish you the best and wish I had the time to help out everyone. All I can suggest is to actually hear all I have already said in the videos, which should answer your questions, as well as ask your psychiatrist. Here and there I try to help by responding to comments, but I have covered most of everything in the videos. Thanks for watching.

Here is information copied directly from WIkipedia on Risperdal (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Risperidone):

Risperidone, sold under the trade name Risperdal among others, is an antipsychotic medication.[1] It is mainly used to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and irritability in people with autism. It is taken either by mouth or by injection into a muscle.[1] The injectable version is long acting and lasts for about two weeks.[2]

Common side effects include movement problems, sleepiness, trouble seeing, constipation, and increased weight.[1][3] Serious side effects may include the potentially permanent movement disorder tardive dyskinesia, as well as neuroleptic malignant syndrome, an increased risk of suicide, and high blood sugar levels.[1][2] In older people with psychosis as a result of dementia it may increase the risk of dying. It is unclear if it is safe for use in pregnancy. Risperidone is an atypical antipsychotic. Its mechanism of action is not entirely clear but believed to be related to its ability as a dopamine antagonist.[1]

Summary:
Metoprolol belongs to a drug class called beta blockers. In simple terms, a beta-blocker works by blocking specific chemical signals in your body that regulate or slow down your heart rate. Not only that, but it also makes your blood vessels wider so blood can flow more easily and reduces pressure on your heart. Metoprolol is used to treat different conditions, including high blood pressure and heart problems such as heart failure, irregular heartbeats, and angina or chest pain. However, it's crucial to be aware of the side effects of metoprolol, from a slow heart rate to fatigue, dizziness, depression or mood changes, weird dreams, low blood pressure, cold hands and feet, skin rashes, and shortness of breath. In this informative video, we discuss the side effects of metoprolol, ensuring your safety and effectiveness of the medication, and how to reduce the side effects.

Metoprolol is available in metoprolol tartrate and metoprolol succinate, and the dosages are metoprolol 25mg, 50mg, 100mg, and 200mg.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Summary:

1) Swelling in the Ankles and Feet
Amlodipine can cause edema which is swelling in the ankles, feet, or hands. This side effect occurs because amlodipine relaxes and widens the blood vessels, which can cause fluid to accumulate in the lower extremities. This affects about 10 percent or more patients taking amlodipine.

2) Dizziness and Lightheadedness
One of the common side effects of taking amlodipine is dizziness and lightheadedness. These sensations can occur due to a drop in blood pressure caused by the medication. While dizziness and lightheadedness can be concerning, there are several strategies you can try to minimize their impact. Firstly, it's important to remember to get up slowly from a seated or lying position.

3) Headaches
Headaches are a common side effect of taking amlodipine, but they don't have to ruin your day. Headaches which usually goes away within a week of starting amlodipine. Getting enough rest and ensuring that you are well-hydrated may help with headaches or ask your doctor or pharmacist for a pain reliever recommendation.

4) Muscle Cramps
Muscle cramps can be an uncomfortable and painful side effect of taking amlodipine. These cramps, often felt in the legs, occur due to the medication's effect on the smooth muscle tissue in the blood vessels.
While muscle cramps can be bothersome, there are strategies you can try to manage and reduce their frequency.

5) Flushing
Flushing, or a warm sensation in the skin, is another common side effect of amlodipine. It is characterised by a temporal redness, warmth or darkening of the skin. It's usually in the face or neck.
Female are more like to experience these side effects than males

Glucophage Medicine: A Breakthrough in Metformin-Based Diabetes Medication
Glucophage Medicine: A Breakthrough in Metformin-Based Diabetes Medication Side Effects 2 Views • 5 months ago

Glucophage has emerged as a breakthrough in metformin-based diabetes medication, offering new hope for individuals living with diabetes. The development of Glucophage involved extensive research and clinical trials to ensure its safety and efficacy.
The formulation of Glucophage is designed to maximize the benefits of metformin while minimizing potential side effects. This precise formulation allows for better control of blood sugar levels, reducing the risk of complications associated with diabetes.
Glucophage has also been shown to have a positive impact on various aspects of diabetes management. In addition to its ability to control blood sugar levels, Glucophage has been associated with weight loss in some individuals. This can be particularly beneficial for individuals with diabetes who also struggle with obesity.
Furthermore, Glucophage has been found to improve cardiovascular health by reducing cholesterol levels and decreasing the risk of heart disease. These additional benefits make Glucophage a comprehensive solution for individuals with diabetes, addressing not only blood sugar control but also overall health and well-being.
How Glucophage works to manage diabetes.
Glucophage works by targeting the underlying mechanisms of diabetes, helping to regulate blood sugar levels and improve insulin sensitivity. The active ingredient, metformin, primarily acts by reducing glucose production in the liver. This limits the amount of glucose released into the bloodstream and helps to prevent hyperglycemia.
Additionally, Glucophage improves the body's response to insulin, allowing for better utilization of glucose by the cells. This helps to further lower blood sugar levels and improve overall glycemic control.
Glucophage also has an impact on other metabolic processes, such as lipid metabolism. It has been shown to decrease the levels of LDL cholesterol, often referred to as "bad" cholesterol, and increase the levels of HDL cholesterol, known as "good" cholesterol. These changes contribute to the improved cardiovascular health associated with Glucophage use.
Furthermore, Glucophage has been found to reduce insulin resistance, a common characteristic of type 2 diabetes. By improving insulin sensitivity, Glucophage helps the body to utilize insulin more effectively, leading to better blood sugar control.
Benefits of using Glucophage over other diabetes medications.
Glucophage offers several advantages over other diabetes medications, making it a preferred choice for healthcare professionals and individuals with diabetes. One of the key benefits of Glucophage is its exceptional safety profile. Metformin, the active ingredient in Glucophage, has been extensively studied and has a long history of safe use.
Compared to some other diabetes medications, Glucophage has minimal side effects. Common side effects, such as gastrointestinal symptoms, are usually mild and transient. This makes Glucophage more tolerable for individuals with diabetes, increasing compliance with treatment.
Another significant advantage of Glucophage is its ability to address prediabetes. Prediabetes is a condition characterized by higher than normal blood sugar levels but not high enough to be classified as diabetes. Glucophage has been shown to be effective in preventing or delaying the progression from prediabetes to type 2 diabetes. This early intervention can significantly reduce the risk of developing diabetes-related complications.
Furthermore, Glucophage is associated with potential weight loss, which can be beneficial for individuals with diabetes who are overweight or obese. Weight loss has been shown to improve glycemic control and reduce the risk of complications in individuals with diabetes.
Potential side effects of Glucophage.
While Glucophage is generally well-tolerated, it is essential to be aware of potential side effects. The most common side effects of Glucophage include gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal discomfort. These side effects are typically mild and transient, and they can be minimized by taking the medication with meals.
In rare cases, Glucophage can cause a serious condition called lactic acidosis. Lactic acidosis is a buildup of lactic acid in the blood, which can be life-threatening.
