Why You are Feeling WORSE on Thyroid Medication
Why You are Feeling WORSE on Thyroid Medication Side Effects 2 Views • 5 months ago

Are you feeling worse on your thyroid medication? If so, you are not alone.

Many thyroid patients feel this exact same way! But how can the very medication that is supposed to help you feel better make you feel worse?

It's actually not that complicated but in order to understand what is happening, you have to understand some basic thyroid physiology.

Here are the top 3 reasons people feel WORSE when taking thyroid medications such as levothyroxine and Synthroid:

#1. Your thyroid medication is SUPPRESSING your T3.

In the normal and healthy state, your thyroid produces BOTH T4 thyroid hormone and T3 thyroid hormone. The ratio is about 80% T4 to 20% T3.

But when you take thyroid medication it completely shuts down how much T3 your body can produce naturally. When this happens you substitute out 20% T3 that your body produces naturally for 100% T4. And if you aren't able to convert that T4 into T3 then you will feel poorly!

This is how thyroid medication makes most people feel worse, by reducing how much T3 is in the body.

#2. You may be reacting to inactive fillers and binders.

There are also many types of fillers, binders, and dyes found in thyroid medication that can cause an allergic like reaction.

Imagine taking a thyroid medication that has lactose in it if you are lactose intolerant. This happens to a lot of thyroid patients.

#3. Lastly, your dose may be WAAAAAY off.

It's unusual but it does happen from time to time. Imagine you are someone who needs to be on 125mcg of levothyroxine but your doctor puts you on 25mcg instead. In this case, your dose is only 1/5th of what it should be so you may feel worse until your dose is increased.

Methadone Drug Facts Video With Dr. Rajy Abulhson, Medical Director
Methadone Drug Facts Video With Dr. Rajy Abulhson, Medical Director Side Effects 3 Views • 5 months ago

Hello, my name is Dr. Rajy Abulhosn, Medical Director here at Confirm BioSciences. Today I want to take some time to discuss a powerful synthetic painkiller called Methadone.

Methadone was first synthesized in the late 1930’s and is most commonly used as a treatment method for those suffering from addiction to opioids like heroin, hydromorphone and oxycodone. Methadone is less addictive than morphine or heroin yet provides the same pain relieving benefits, so it’s often prescribed to those addicted to opioids to help with their painful withdrawal symptoms.

Methadone is most often used in a pill or liquid form in treatment centers or other medical settings however, some illicit methadone users will inject methadone instead. Methadone is a depressant and slows down the central nervous system causing a feeling of relaxation and temporary relieve from stress and anger. When mixed with other depressants such as sleeping pills, alcohol or other opioids there’s a greater risk of respiratory depression, coma or even death.

Some short term side effects of methadone use may include sedation, constipation, nausea, severe sweating, confusion, euphoria and impaired judgement. Long term effects may include kidney and liver damage, bone damage and mood disturbances.
Want to know more about the side effects of methadone? Click that link in the upper right hand corner to learn more. With its relatively low cost compared to other pain killers as well as wide spread use in drug treatment centers, methadone use is a growing concern among Americans.

According to the CDC, an estimated one third of all opioid related deaths may be attributed to methadone which is why it’s a good idea to include methadone testing in your standard pre-employment drug testing and school drug testing.

EDDP is a metabolite of methadone. Standard methadone tests can often fail to detect methadone so testing for EDDP is a more fail safe way of preventing false negatives.

We offer standard urine drug test cups that test for methadone and EDDP which detects down to 300 ng/ml testing back approximately 1-3 days. As well as our saliva drug test which detects levels down to 75 ng/ml and can detect use for up to 48 hours.

Why is methadone withdrawal so hard?
Why is methadone withdrawal so hard? Side Effects 2 Views • 5 months ago

In this video, Dr Peter Coleman, who is Board-certified in Addiction Medicine and in long-term recovery himself, answers a viewer question about why methadone withdrawal is so difficult. Methadone is one of 3 proven forms of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for Opioid Use Disorder. Suboxone (buprenorphine) and Naltrexone are the other 2 evidence-based forms of MAT.

-Safe, Comfortable Outpatient Detox
The Coleman Institute for Addiction Medicine has been a leading outpatient addiction treatment center since 1998. Our innovative withdrawal management programs, often referred to as The Coleman Method, have helped thousands of people free themselves from addiction to Alcohol, Opioids, and Benzodiazepines. Originally founded in Richmond, Virginia, our network has expanded to cover 10 cities across the US.

-3 - 8 Day Opioid Detoxification Process
For short-acting opiates like oxycodone, most patients complete their detox and begin Naltrexone therapy within 5 days. Longer-acting opiates like Suboxone and Methadone typically take 8 days. Our standard opioid treatment package in Richmond, VA includes the detox and 6 months of case management and Naltrexone therapy. As a non-addictive opioid blocker, Naltrexone dramatically reduces cravings so that patients can focus on their recovery. We have a 98% success rate for completing detoxification and starting Naltrexone therapy. During the detox, we work with patients and their families to develop an appropriate aftercare plan. We also offer a convenient, 3-day outpatient alcohol detox and a Benzodiazepine Detox.

-Caring, Empathetic Environment
Our founder, Dr. Peter Coleman, understands first-hand the challenges our patients are facing due to his own personal struggle with the disease of addiction. He has been in long term recovery since 1984. Dr. Coleman has dedicated his career to treating addiction patients and creating a team and an environment conducive to long term recovery for his patients.

In the US, the government is battling the opioid overdose epidemic.

About 115 people die every day due to this problem and those numbers continue to rise.

The misuse of opioids affects the public health and economic welfare of the country.

One of the opiates that people commonly misuse is methadone.

Methadone is used in the treatment of moderate to severe pain.

Doctors can also prescribe it to treat narcotic addiction.

Sadly, some patients misuse their methadone prescription for a variety of reasons.

This affects them and their health in different ways.

When taken as prescribed by your doctor, methadone medication is safe and effective.

For patients with addiction, it works effectively if used together with comprehensive medication-assisted treatment which includes social support and counseling.

Doctors say that methadone works a lot like morphine but it’s effect on the body are slower.

It works by changing how the brain and nervous system respond to pain.

This makes you feel relief.

Methadone blocks the euphoric effects of opiate drugs such as codeine or heroin.

It also lessens withdrawal symptoms of opiates.

The pain relief from this drug lasts for about eight to 12 hours.

Studies have shown that methadone is effective in higher doses, particularly for those patients with heroin addiction.

Methadone is an effective treatment for suppressing cravings and reducing pain.

It has a long-term treatment period, usually one year or more.

No matter how it is taken, the effects are wide and varied as they depend on the individual’s body.

Possible Methadone side effects are constipation, vomiting (especially in the beginning of treatment as the body adjusts to the medication), light headedness, irregular sweating, dry mouth, fatigue and more.

These side effects are more likely if the medication is not taken as prescribed or above the therapeutic dose.

You will work closely with your doctor to find a dose that works for you.

If you experience any of these side effects, it’s important to communicate them with your doctor so that your dosage can be adjusted.

Sometimes, these side-effects can occur in the beginning stages of treatment and later subside once you have had time to get used to your dosage.

Fortunately, when methadone program requirements are followed and medication is taken as prescribed, it can be a huge help in recovering your life after addiction.

If you are looking into a methadone treatment program for yourself or a loved one, check out our state-by-state directories for more information

Methadone Withdrawal, Addiction and Treatment - Everything You Need to Know About Methadone | ANR
Methadone Withdrawal, Addiction and Treatment - Everything You Need to Know About Methadone | ANR Side Effects 3 Views • 5 months ago

Methadone Withdrawal, Addiction and Treatment - Click here for more information: https://anrclinic.com/methadone-withdrawal-detox/

Methadone addiction is a physical health condition and must be treated as such. During the process of addiction, the brain’s chemical system becomes unbalanced, and it craves methadone in an attempt to regain normal function.

Methadone addiction may also result in unpleasant side effects, including blocking the brain’s ‘pleasure sensors’ rather than causing euphoria. Opioid abuse means using opioids without a prescription or using a higher dosage than was prescribed. People who abuse heroin or other opiates are more susceptible to methadone addiction due to their history of opioid dependency.

FAST & RAPID METHADON DETOX

Although a large number of rehabilitation facilities offer rapid methadone detox programs, these programs are not an effective approach. They do not treat the root cause of the brain’s chemical imbalances. Many methadone and substance abuse rehab facilities require ongoing visits for at least a few weeks, and all of them will only be treating the secondary effects of dependency.

In the 1990s, Dr. Andre Waismann developed the concept of ‘Rapid Detox’. Due to the success of his treatment, other rehabilitation facilities have tried to implement a similar model. However, many of the facilities trying to implement the rapid detox program lack the necessary medical information, experience, and knowledge to implement these programs safely and effectively. As a result, their detoxification programs have not had the intended results and may have caused further health complications. These programs are not able to provide personalized, custom treatment based on the individual’s endorphin-receptor balance.

Dr. Waismann has further developed his treatment from the ’90s into what we now know as Accelerated Neuro-Regulation. ANR is currently the only treatment option that returns the brain’s chemical system to its original pre-dependency state. Unlike other, more ineffective treatment models, Doctor Waismann’s latest ANR method focuses on restoring the patient’s optimal endorphin-receptor balance. Rather than waiting weeks or months to fully recover, patients are guaranteed a total recovery with a one-time-stay that lasts less than 30 hours.

ANR METHADONE REHAB FACILITY

Doctor Waismann’s game-changing breakthrough of the ANR model has revolutionized opioid therapy with the never-before therapeutic goal of nonregulation modulation to ensure optimal endorphin and chemical balance. As a result, the ANR method created a new reality as it is the only effective modern medicine method to truly defeat and overcome opioid and methadone addiction, dependency, and withdrawal.

As trusted by 24,000 patients around the world during 30 years of medical practice, Doctor Waismann is a leader in combatting the global methadone epidemic. The ANR procedure lasts for a duration of four or five hours and requires hospitalization of 30 hours. When patients first arrive at the industry-leading ANR Clinics in Tampa, Florida, Thun, Switzerland, or Tbilisi, Georgia, they will receive a medical evaluation. The initial medical examination will allow Doctor Waismann and his team to learn more about the patient to develop a patient-centered care plan. The medical assessment will include:

- Blood pressure monitoring
- Weight measurement
- Collection of information about electrolytes, liver functions, kidney functions, and blood count.

Whether you are seeking fast and rapid methadone or opioid detox that has been proven to be effective with thousands of patients, are struggling with methadone or opioid addiction, or overcome withdrawal symptoms, ANR Clinic has a team of compassionate and experienced healthcare professionals who will guide you with your recovery journey. Contact ANR Clinic today to learn more about our evidence-based revolutionary care methods that will help you fully recover within a short period of time to minimize your withdrawal symptoms as you recover.

Dr. Waismann identified the biological roots of opioid dependency; since then, he has successfully treated more than 24,000 patients worldwide struggling with opioid addiction.
Throughout his career, he has lectured and educated health professionals in dozens of countries worldwide to this day.

2-Minute Neuroscience: Methadone
2-Minute Neuroscience: Methadone Side Effects 3 Views • 5 months ago

Methadone is commonly used to treat opioid use disorder even though its pharmacological action is very similar to that of other opioids like morphine. In this video, I discuss the qualities that make methadone an effective treatment for opioid addiction, along with how it acts to reduce the risks associated with opioid abuse.

TRANSCRIPT:

Welcome to 2-minute neuroscience, where I explain neuroscience topics in 2 minutes or less. In this installment I will discuss methadone.

Methadone is best known for its use in the treatment of opioid addiction, although it can also be used for treating chronic pain. It’s usually administered by mouth in the form of a liquid, pill, or sublingual tablet. Methadone’s primary mechanism of action is as an agonist at opioid receptors. In other words, it activates opioid receptors similar to the way other opioid drugs like morphine would. It also acts as an antagonist, or blocks, NMDA glutamate receptors, which is thought to contribute to its pain-relieving effects.

Because it has a similar mechanism of action to other opioids, methadone causes enough stimulation of opioid receptors to reduce cravings for other opioid drugs and to prevent a patient from experiencing withdrawal symptoms. Unlike most other opioids, however, methadone typically only has to be administered once a day to achieve these effects. Additionally, methadone occupies opioid receptor binding sites, which diminishes any effect administration of another opioid might have, further discouraging someone from using other opioid drugs while taking methadone. Altogether, methadone’s pharmacological action lowers the likelihood a patient will abuse other opioid drugs.

Since methadone has a similar mechanism of action to other opioids, patients also often become dependent on methadone, and some may need to take the drug for a prolonged period of time, or even for the rest of their life. Because the drug is administered by a medical professional, however, doses can be controlled, and the risk of fatal and nonfatal overdose for someone on methadone is much lower than for someone who continues abusing opioids. Additionally, methadone treatment is associated with a reduction in intravenous drug use, and thus a lower risk of contracting blood-borne diseases like HIV.

Is Metamucil Good For Constipation? In this informative video, we will discuss the benefits and considerations of using Metamucil for managing constipation, particularly for those with sensitive stomachs, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and colitis. Metamucil is a well-known fiber supplement that may help alleviate constipation by utilizing psyllium husk, a soluble fiber that absorbs water and forms a gel-like substance. Additionally, we will address potential side effects, such as bloating and gas, and provide tips on how to introduce Metamucil into your routine safely. For those who may experience discomfort with Metamucil, we will also mention alternative fiber supplements that could be more suitable.

Benefiber vs Metamucil: Which Is The Better Choice? (A Detailed Comparison). In this video, I will discuss the differences between Benefiber and Metamucil.

***Please be advised that the prices or offers referenced in this video were based on our research conducted during its production. However, it is important to note that these prices, offers, or discounts are subject to change at any time.***

The main difference between them is their formulas.
Though both supplements ease constipation, they work differently. The active ingredient in Benefiber is wheat dextrin, a natural prebiotic fiber. This fiber supplement works by absorbing water in the intestinal tract and moving intestinal contents. Since wheat dextrin is fermented in the intestines, it loses its capacity to hold water.

On the other hand, Metamucil contains psyllium husks, a gel-based fiber. When this ingredient combines with water, it swells and promotes the passage of stool through the digestive tract. Since psyllium husks is not fermented, it holds water in the stool throughout the bowel and offers a hydrated stool that is easy to excrete. Therefore, Metamucil has a more effective formula that makes it ideal for constipation.

Psyllium husk fiber supplement can be part of a healthy diet, but it must be taken correctly. It has been shown to lower cholesterol levels to an extent, but is best in combination with a proper diet. Always take care to mix psyllium husk with more than enough water. It can become thick and cause problems if it isn't.

If you’re struggling with bloating, gut issues, sugar cravings, or sluggish digestion, it’s time to discover one of the most underrated yet powerful superfoods: psyllium husk. This natural, soluble fiber derived from the seeds of Plantago ovata has been a game-changer for people seeking better digestion, lower cholesterol, improved gut microbiome health, blood sugar balance, and weight management.

In this video, we break down the top 5 health benefits of psyllium husk — backed by science — and reveal 5 crucial tips you must know before adding it to your daily routine.

✨ What You'll Learn in This Video:

How psyllium husk relieves constipation naturally without dependence like stimulant laxatives,

Why it’s excellent for lowering LDL cholesterol and supporting heart health,

How psyllium promotes gut health and feeds your beneficial microbiota like Bifidobacteria,

The surprising connection between psyllium and lower blood sugar and reduced inflammation, making it ideal for PCOS, insulin resistance, and metabolic syndrome,

How it increases satiety and reduces appetite — helping with weight loss and trimming the waistline.

But psyllium isn’t just about fiber — taking it the wrong way can lead to uncomfortable side effects like bloating or even choking. That’s why we also cover the 5 most important dos and don’ts when taking psyllium, including:

Always drink it with at least 8–12 oz of water,

Start slow — begin with ½ teaspoon daily and work your way up,

Take it before or after meals (not with meds or supplements),

Don’t overdo the dose — more fiber isn’t always better,

Be consistent and choose high-quality, third-party tested psyllium husk.

🌿 Why psyllium works so well: It forms a gel in your digestive tract that slows digestion, helps nutrient absorption, feeds gut bacteria, binds to bile acids to lower cholesterol, and gives you that full, satisfied feeling without calories.

✅ If you're looking for the best psyllium husk supplement, make sure it’s organic AND tested for contaminants. Brands like NOW Foods Psyllium Husk are known for rigorous quality control and testing for heavy metals, microbes, and purity.

Psyllium husk is a soluble fiber commonly consumed as a dietary supplement in powder or capsule form.

Due to its high fiber content, psyllium husk aids in digestion, supports heart health, and promotes satiety. Psyllium husk is also a prebiotic, which is needed to help grow healthy probiotics in the gut.

Psyllium husk offers numerous health benefits, including:
