Can Memantine Cause Hallucinations? In this informative video, we will discuss memantine, a medication primarily used to treat Alzheimer's disease, and its potential side effects, particularly hallucinations. Memantine functions by blocking specific receptors in the brain that are involved in learning and memory. While many individuals tolerate this medication well, it is important to be aware that it can lead to unexpected experiences, including visual and auditory hallucinations.

We will explore the circumstances under which these side effects may occur, especially in certain patient populations, such as those with dementia with Lewy bodies or Alzheimer's disease. Additionally, we will touch on the relevance of understanding these side effects within the context of pain medicine and management. This is especially significant for patients who may be dealing with both cognitive and pain-related challenges.

If you or someone you know is taking memantine and experiences hallucinations, we emphasize the importance of consulting a healthcare provider for proper assessment and guidance. Join us as we provide essential information regarding memantine, its effects, and the importance of personalized medical advice when navigating medication concerns. Methylprednisolone (Medrol) 4 mg Dose Pack | Uses, Dosage, & Side Effects | Dr. Eilbra Younan
Methylprednisolone (Medrol) 4 mg Dose Pack | Uses, Dosage, & Side Effects | Dr. Eilbra Younan Side Effects 3 Views โ€ข 5 months ago

Methylprednisolone (Medrol) Dose Pack 4 mg

Methylprednisolone Dose Pack is a corticosteroid medication designed to rapidly reduce acute inflammation. It is commonly prescribed for conditions like asthma, allergic reactions, arthritis, and inflammatory bowel disease. Additionally, it can be used to manage symptoms associated with the common cold and flu, such as respiratory inflammation, throat swelling, or other flu-like discomforts. The medication works by suppressing the immune system to decrease inflammation, swelling, redness, itching, and allergic reactions.

The treatment follows a tapering regimen, which starts with a high dose to quickly control symptoms and then gradually decreases to prevent rebound effects or adverse reactions. This approach helps reduce the risk of adrenal suppression that can occur if corticosteroids are abruptly discontinued. To minimize stomach upset, take this medication with food. Follow the instructions provided with the dose packโ€”typically, you can take all the tablets for a given day at once or as prescribed by your healthcare provider.

Complete the course: Even if you start feeling better, it's crucial to finish the entire dose pack to ensure that the inflammation doesn't return. Stopping prematurely can lead to a resurgence of symptoms or other complications.

While methylprednisolone is effective for a wide range of inflammatory and immune-related conditions, it's crucial to be aware of its potential side effects. Common side effects include headaches, nausea, vomiting, fluid retention (leading to swelling in the ankles, feet, or hands), weight gain (especially with long-term use), insomnia, and a bitter taste. If you experience severe or unexpected side effects, seek medical advice immediately.

Always consult your healthcare provider before starting any new medication, especially for conditions like the common cold or flu, where other treatments might be more suitable. Misuse of corticosteroids can lead to complications, so it's important to ensure this medication is appropriate for your specific symptoms and health history.

But before starting please subscribe to my channel MedicineGuide
What is this medication?
MECLIZINE is an antihistamine. It is used to prevent nausea, vomiting, or dizziness caused by motion sickness.

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): are
Antivert,
Dramamine Less Drowsy,
Dramamine-N,

Now lets discuss
Mechanism of Action
Meclizine is a first-generation antihistamine (non-selective H1 antagonist). It also has central anticholinergic actions.
The blocking actions on these receptors give meclizine its antiemetic and antivertigo properties. This blocking effect occurs in the vomiting center and chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ) located in the medulla.
These effects result in the inhibition of signals through histamine neurotransmission from the nucleus of the solitary tract and the vestibular nuclei to the chemoreceptor trigger zone and vomiting center located in the medulla.
This effect also reduces vestibular incitation and labyrinth excitability.
Now lets discuss Warnings
You should not take this medication if you are allergic to meclizine.
Before you take meclizine, tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease,

Product Review: Boots Magnesium ๐Ÿ’Š (It Sucks Really Bad ๐Ÿ˜ฉโŒ)

๐Ÿ“ฒ Follow for honest health and fitness tips (and free recipes 3/week too ๐Ÿฅณ)

Magnesium Oxide (& Boots) Suck:
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.go....v/32162607/https://p
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5818780/
Hereโ€™s why:
-Itโ€™s very poorly absorbed. Multiple studies show your body barely takes in the magnesium from oxide โ€” so most of it just passes through your gut and out the other end.
-Itโ€™s basically useless for energy-related issues. It doesnโ€™t improve fatigue, leg cramps, sleep, or anything that might make you feel more energised.
-Better forms exist. Citrate, malate, and glycinate are absorbed way better and have been linked (in small studies) to improvements in fatigue, sleep, and mood.
So, from a scientific and practical point of view:โŒ Magnesium oxide is cheap, low-quality, and not the one you want if you want to reduce tiredness and fatigue.

The BEST And WORST Forms of Magnesium
The BEST And WORST Forms of Magnesium Side Effects 3 Views โ€ข 5 months ago

Magnesium is incredibly important for cellular health as it is involved in over 300 different enzymatic reactions. When magnesium levels are low, you WILL feel it.

This leads a lot of people to use supplements to replace low magnesium levels.

But here's the problem:

When you go looking for magnesium supplements you will be met with a huge array of different types. And these types and formulations of magnesium are NOT all created equal.

Let's talk about the best types of magnesium so you can replace lost levels and manage symptoms like fatigue, insomnia, stress, anxiety, depression, and more.

1. Magnesium oxide. This is the cheapest and least effective form and should be avoided!
2. Magnesium citrate. This form is great for treating constipation.
3. Magnesium malate. This is a stimulating form of magnesium great for those with fatigue (don't take it at night!).
4. Magnesium l-threonate. This form of magnesium crosses the blood-brain barrier and is ideal for treating conditions like depression.
5. Magnesium glycinate. This is one of the best all rounded forms for improving whole body magnesium.
6. Magnesium orotate. Magnesium orotate is ideal for improving athletic performance but it doesn't treat constipation.
7. Sucrosomial magnesium. This newer form of magnesium is probably best for improving athletic performance.

Magnesium oxide benefits and side effects. In this video I share 3 health benefits of magnesium oxide and possible side effects to watch out for.

Magnesium article:

Another form of magnesium that I highly recommend is magnesium glycinate, which you can find here: https://thefarmhaven.com/colle....ctions/best-sellers/

Magnesium Citrate Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NM6fgyLtOxE

Health Benefits of Magnesium Oxide
1. May help with migraine headaches. Studies show that low serum magnesium levels are common for people suffering from migraine headaches and vascular headaches in general. So, supplementing with magnesium oxide may be a way of reducing the severity of migraines and possibly preventing them in the first place.
2. Helps with Anxiety. Itโ€™s been shown that magnesium can help relieve the symptoms of anxiety and incorporating more magnesium rich foods or taking a magnesium supplement can enhance overall mental well-being. On top of helping with anxiety, magnesium oxide can also help you deal with stress, and lessen depression.
3. Helps with Constipation. Magnesium oxide has laxative properties that can help get your system moving and improve your ability to eliminate waste.

Side Effects of Magnesium Oxide
1. May cause cramping. A common side effect of supplementing with magnesium oxide is stomach cramps and gastrointestinal distress.
2. Diarrhea and Nausea. Because of magnesium oxideโ€™s laxative properties, it may cause nausea and in some people diarrhea. Itโ€™s important that if youโ€™re trying magnesium oxide for the first time that you start with a small dose to see how your body reacts.
3. Weakness and Fatigue. This is another common side effect if youโ€™re not used to taking magnesium oxide.

More about Magnesium.

Though it is often forgotten amongst the multitude of other vitamins and minerals available, magnesium actually plays a considerable role inside your body.

Magnesium supports, or is responsible for, as many as 300 different biochemical functions inside your body, everywhere from your nerves to your bones to your metabolism, and a variety of things in between.

When it comes to every organ in the body (especially the muscles, heart, and kidneys), magnesium is a mineral that provides never-ending benefits.

There are many benefits of taking daily recommended amounts, either through diet or supplementation.

Without magnesium, the enzymes remain inactive; the production of energy is hindered; and the regulation of calcium, potassium, copper and many other nutrients in the body are affected.

Magnesium Deficiency

Magnesium and magnesium supplements protect overall health, especially heart health.
Magnesium produces and maintains energy, preserves the integrity of blood vessels, regulates blood sugar, nerve function and enzyme activity, produces new proteins and cells, and contributes to more than 300 chemical reactions in the body.
It is not surprising that magnesium deficiency causes various health problems, such as:
โ€ข Insomnia and sleep disorders
โ€ข Cardiovascular disease and high blood pressure
โ€ข Constipation and digestive problems
โ€ข Chronic fatigue
โ€ข Calcium deficiency
โ€ข Muscle cramps and cramps
โ€ข Panic and anxiety attacks
โ€ข Type 2 diabetes
โ€ข Cognitive problems: difficulty concentrating and memory loss
โ€ข Irritability
โ€ข Loss of appetite
โ€ข Osteoporosis
โ€ข PMS

Doctor explains NITROFURANTOIN for UTIs | uses, doses, side effects & more [Educational video]
Doctor explains NITROFURANTOIN for UTIs | uses, doses, side effects & more [Educational video] Side Effects 3 Views โ€ข 5 months ago

Dr O'Donovan explains to patients key facts about an antibiotic used to TREAT AND PREVENT UTIs like cystitis called Nitrofurantoin. This is also known by its brand names: Aratoin, Furadantin, Macrobid, Macrodantin.

Video contents:

00:00 - Introduction
00:03 - A brief overview of nitrofurantoin
00:39 - How does it work?
01:13 - Who can and can't take it?
01:50 - Dosage information
04:55 - Side effects

According to the NHS (UK):

"Nitrofurantoin is an antibiotic. It's used to treat and prevent lower urinary tract infections (UTIs), such as cystitis.

When you take nitrofurantoin, your body quickly filters it out of your blood and into your pee. This is useful if you have a urinary tract infection because it means the medicine is concentrated at the site of infection. But it means nitrofurantoin will not work for any other types of infection.

Nitrofurantoin is available on prescription. It comes as capsules, tablets and a liquid that you swallow."

This video articulates the gist of the following: Pregabalin (Lyrica) treats pain caused by nerve damage and can be used with other medications to prevent seizures. Pregabalin capsules, oral solution (liquid), and extended-release (long-acting) tablets are used to relieve neuropathic pain (pain from damaged nerves) that can occur in your arms, hands, fingers, legs, feet, or toes if you have diabetes and postherpetic neuralgia (PHN; the burning, stabbing pain or aches that may last for months or years after an attack of shingles). Pregabalin capsules and oral solution are also used to relieve neuropathic pain that can occur after a spinal cord injury and to treat fibromyalgia (a long-lasting condition that may cause pain, muscle stiffness and tenderness, tiredness, and difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep). Pregabalin capsules and oral solution are used along with other medications to treat certain types of seizures. Pregabalin is in a class of medications called anticonvulsants. It works by decreasing the number of pain signals that are sent out by damaged nerves in the body. Pregabalin was FDA approved in 2004 as an anti-epileptic & anticonvulsant. It slows down impulses in the brain that cause seizures. Pregabalin also affects chemicals in the brain that send pain signals across the nervous system. Pregabalin is used to treat pain caused by fibromyalgia, or nerve pain in people with diabetes (diabetic neuropathy), herpes zoster (post-herpetic neuralgia), or spinal cord injury. Pregabalin is also used with other medications to treat partial-onset seizures in adults and children aged at least 1 month. Pregabalin can cause a severe allergic reaction. Stop taking pregabalin and seek emergency medical help if you have hives or blisters on your skin, trouble breathing, or swelling in your face, mouth or throat. Pregabalin is used with other medicines to help control partial-onset seizures (convulsions) in the treatment of epilepsy in patients 1 month of age and older. This medicine will not cure epilepsy and will only work to control seizures for as long as you continue to take it. Pregabalin is also used for postherpetic neuralgia (pain that occurs after shingles) and pain caused by nerve damage from diabetes or a spinal cord injury. Pregabalin capsule and oral liquid are also used to treat a condition called fibromyalgia (muscle pain and stiffness). Pregabalin works in the central nervous system (CNS) to control seizures and pain. It is an anticonvulsant and neuropathic pain agent. Pregabalin is approved by the United States FDA to treat neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy, spinal cord injury, and postherpetic neuralgia. Pregabalin is FDA-approved for the treatment of fibromyalgia. Pregabalin also has FDA approval as adjunctive therapy for partial-onset seizures in adults with epilepsy.

Pregabalin (Lyrica) is a medication in the gabapentinoid class. It has anticonvulsant, anxiolytic, and analgesic properties. As such, it's used for epilepsy, neuropathic pain, anxiety, and other conditions.

Despite being a GABA derivative, it doesn't appear to be operating through a GABA-related mechanism.

The substance is also used recreationally due to its euphoric, anxiolytic, and pro-social effects.

The Drug Classroom (TDC) is dedicated to providing the type of drug education everyone should have. Drugs are never going to leave our society and there has never been a society free from drugs.

Therefore, it only makes sense to provide real education free from propaganda.

TDC doesn't advocate drug use. Rather, we operate with the intention of reducing the harm some substances can bring.

How To Give A Blood Thinner (Anticoagulant) Shot
How To Give A Blood Thinner (Anticoagulant) Shot Side Effects 3 Views โ€ข 5 months ago

#anticoagulant #BloodThinner #Injection

MEDICAL ANIMATION TRANSCRIPT: Please watch the entire video before giving an anti-coagulant shot. This video will teach you how to give yourself a shot of anti-coagulant medicine, also called a blood thinner. Blood thinners help prevent clots from forming inside your blood vessels. Before you begin you will need alcohol wipes, your pre-filled syringe of anti-coagulant medicine, and a sharps box. The main parts of the syringe are the barrel containing the medicine, the plunger, the needle cap, and the needle. Select your injection site at least two inches to the right or left of your belly button or on either of your thighs. A caregiver may also use these instructions to give you a shot on either side of your back, upper arms, or upper buttocks. Use a different injection site each day to avoid swelling or bruising and take your shot at the same time each day. Be sure to follow your doctor's instructions. Do not skip any doses. Do not inject more medicine than prescribed. Step one, before you begin wash your hands with soap and water and then dry them. Step two, clean the skin over the injection site by rubbing with an alcohol wipe in a circular motion. Step three, to open your syringe peel the foil cover off the back. Do not push the syringe through the foil cover because it could damage the syringe. Step four, hold the syringe sideways by the barrel then pull the needle cap straight off without bending the needle. There will be an air bubble in the medicine. Do not press the plunger to squirt the air bubble out of the barrel. Step five, with your free hand, pinch and hold an inch of skin at the injection site. Insert the needle at a 90 degree angle through your skin and into the fatty tissue beneath it. Step 6, slowly press the plunger to deliver all of the medicine, including the air bubble. Step 7, pull the needle straight out of your skin. Step eight, press down firmly on the plunger to activate the safety guard which covers the needle. Step 9, throw away the used syringe in your sharps box. Call your doctor if you notice increased bleeding, or bruising, rash, numbness, or tingling especially in your legs.
