Welcome back to Pharmacist Michael's Happy, Healthy, Living channel. In today's video, we're delving into the exciting world of Rapatha, a revolutionary medication that's reshaping cholesterol management.
Section 1: What's Rapatha All About?
Rapatha, also known as evolocumab, is causing a buzz in the healthcare scene. But what exactly is it? In simple terms, it's a medication engineered to lower LDL cholesterol, often referred to as the "bad" cholesterol. But here's the twist – it achieves this in a one-of-a-kind way. Let's dive right in!
Section 2: The Science Behind Rapatha
Imagine Rapatha as a secret agent working inside your body. Its mission? To target a protein named PCSK9, acting as a gatekeeper in your liver. This protein controls the number of "bad" cholesterol receptors your body has. When PCSK9 levels are elevated, your LDL cholesterol levels follow suit. Rapatha steps in, intercepting PCSK9, resulting in more receptors and less "bad" cholesterol circulating in your bloodstream.
Section 3: Who Stands to Gain from Rapatha?
So, who should be enthusiastic about Rapatha? It's a game-changer for individuals with exceptionally high cholesterol levels, especially those grappling with familial hypercholesterolemia, a genetic condition. If you're at significant risk of heart-related issues like heart attacks or strokes and other cholesterol medications aren't doing the trick, Rapatha might be your knight in shining armor. And for those who can't endure the side effects of statins, Rapatha could be a welcome alternative.
Section 4: How to Administer Rapatha
Taking Rapatha is a walk in the park. You administer it with a simple subcutaneous shot, right under your skin. No need for frequent doctor visits – you can do it in the comfort of your home. Your healthcare provider will guide you in determining the appropriate dosage and injection frequency based on your cholesterol levels.
Section 5: Possible Speed Bumps - Side Effects
Like most things in life, Rapatha can have its quirks, but they're typically minor. You might experience some localized redness, swelling, or discomfort at the injection site. Or you could feel like you have the flu temporarily, with symptoms like fever, chills, or muscle aches. The silver lining is that these side effects usually fade quickly. For most people, the benefits of lower cholesterol far outweigh these minor inconveniences.
Section 6: Wrapping it Up and Points to Consider
In a nutshell, Rapatha, or evolocumab, is a groundbreaking medication for managing cholesterol levels. Think of it as your cholesterol guardian angel, helping your body maintain cholesterol more effectively. And if you're interested in straightforward health content, consider becoming a part of our health community by subscribing. If you’ve never taken medication before and out of nowhere your doctor prescribe the medication you should really sit down and ask yourself if you should take the medication.
You have to keep in mind that doctors don’t give a fuck about you or your mental condition your physical and condition or any condition whatsoever but their paycheck. If they see $coming from you they’re going to take it they’re going to prescribe it to you regardless if you need it or not. If you think that you should not be taking medication for the love of God don’t take it. If you’re perfectly fine without the medication then why are you taking it ask yourself these fundamental questions.
Stop taking other peoples advice for your own start taking your own advice because you know your body you can have a individual body that no one’s ever tested on and those people wouldn’t have data on so therefore they couldn’t help you only you can help you. Don’t want to be your motivational right now but is some real stuff help yourself love yourself actually ask yourself fundamental questions like who am I who are you what makes you you get and start a relationship with yourself.

Ranolazine is new FDA approved drug for the management of of chronic angina pectoris. Ranolazine inhibits persistent or late inward sodium current in heart muscle in a variety of voltage-gated sodium channels. Inhibiting that current leads to reductions in intracellular calcium levels. It is reduces the HbA1c and fasting blood glucose levels, so also used for diabetes mellitus. This in turn leads to reduced tension in the heart wall, leading to reduced oxygen requirements for the muscle. It may be used concomitantly with β blockers, nitrates, calcium channel blockers, antiplatelet therapy, lipid-lowering therapy, ACE inhibitors and angiotensin receptor blockers. It is also effective at preventing atrial fibrillation, and has been studied as monotherapy as well as in combination with other medications used to treat irregular heartbeat.

Conventional antianginal agents like beta blockers act by reducing myocardial oxygen demand. This could be mediated by reduction of heart rate, blood pressure or myocardial contractility, either at rest or during exercise. But the antianginal action of ranolazine does not involve these hemodynamic mechanisms. Ranolazine has been shown to improve exercise duration, time to angina and time to ST segment depression, both as monotherapy and as part of combination therapy with conventional antianginal agents. Ranolazine is thought to have its antianginal action by preserving myocardial blood flow during ischemia by its effects on inhibition of late sodium current which in turn prevents cellular sodium overload and sequentially calcium overload.
Prevention of calcium overload reduces compression of intramyocardial blood vessels by reducing diastolic myocardial stiffness. Usually the late sodium channels remain open during myocardial ischemia leading to intracellular sodium overload. This extra sodium is extruded by the sodium-calcium exchange mechanism which leads to calcium overload. Calcium overload causes diastolic relaxation failure as the increased calcium ions cause increased tension in contractile elements of the myocyte. Thus the antianginal effect of ranolazine is mediated by a positive lusitropic effect in myocardial ischemia which resets the vicious cycle of ‘ischemia begets ischemia’.
A study by Stone PH and associates showed that ranolazine decreases myocardial ischemia during submaximal and maximal exercise after the onset of ischemic ST depression. The magnitude of ischemia reduction was substantially more than the relatively minor reduction in heart rate or rate pressure product, the important determinants of myocardial oxygen demand. The authors concluded that the mechanism of action of ranolazine is most likely due to an improvement in regional coronary blood flow in areas of myocardial ischemia during submaximal and maximal exercise.

The name of your medicine is Ramipril
1.25mg, 2.5mg, 5mg or 10mg Tablets (called ramipril throughout this leaflet). It belongs to
a group of medicines called ACE inhibitors (Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitors).
Ramipril works by:
• Decreasing your body’s production of substances that could raise your blood pressure
• Making your blood vessels relax and widen • Making it easier for your heart to pump blood around your body.
Ramipril can be used:
• To treat high blood pressure (hypertension)
• To reduce the risk of you having a heart attack or stroke
• To reduce the risk or delay the worsening of kidney problems (whether or not you have diabetes)
• To treat your heart when it cannot pump enough blood to the rest of your body (heart failure)
• As treatment following a heart attack (myocardial infarction) complicated with heart failure.
Do not take and tell your doctor before taking this medicine if:
• If you are allergic to ramipril, any other ACE inhibitor medicine, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. Signs of an allergic reaction may include a rash, swallowing or breathing problems,
