Since 2012, I started to do mini lectures from my parents in home library, armed with a $30 white board from Walmart & a sock to erase the board. Since then I have created over 1,200 videos, only 20% which live on YouTube, and have helped over 1,000,000 nursing students pass their NCLEX, HESI, ATI, and Kaplan proctor exams. Thank you for the continued support and love as we strive to help LPN, LVN and RN students become licensed nurses!

If you’re taking TUMS for acid reflux and heartburn, this is for you! TUMS may seem like a harmless over-the-counter remedy, but comes with a package. Discover 10 side effects of calcium carbonate that will make you think twice before taking TUMS.
0:00 Introduction: TUMS side effects
0:20 Acid reflux and heartburn
1:12 The purpose of stomach acid
2:08 10 reasons not to use TUMS

TUMS are a popular over-the-counter antacid made of calcium carbonate. They may seem harmless, but there are some TUMS side effects you should know about.
Typically, the stomach is highly acidic, with a pH between 1 and 3. When the pH of your stomach increases and your stomach acid becomes too alkaline, the valve on top of your stomach doesn’t close properly. This causes heartburn and acid reflux, which are caused by low stomach acid.
Antacid TUMS can eliminate heartburn and acid reflux temporarily, but will not fix the problem. Calcium carbonate alkalizes the stomach, but you need strong stomach acid to digest protein, absorb minerals, and kill pathogens.
TUMS antacids can cause the following 10 side effects:
1. Constipation
2. Gas
3. Burping
4. Increased risk of stomach bugs
5. Heart arrhythmias
6. Kidney stones
7. Abdominal pain
8. Increased urination, especially at night
9. Dehydration
10. Depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders
Instead of taking TUMS for acid reflux and heartburn, consume apple cider vinegar mixed in a glass of water. This can help eliminate heartburn and acid reflux without the negative side effects of calcium carbonate.

For those suffering from bone density problems, bisphosphonate medication such as Fosamax and Actonel is often prescribed as treatment. The drug is helped to prevent the breakage and weakening of a patient's bones.
However, recent studies are beginning to show that overexposure to the drugs (such as patient's taking them regularly for years) has led to cause severe injuries to patients. Victims have been experiencing atypical femur fractures as a result of low energy accidents, such as simple slip and falls.
An atypical femur fracture means that the fracture occurs in an unusual way, such as from low energy accidents. Women have reported these fractures occurring during basic daily activities like walking to the mailbox or getting out of their car. The femur bone, located in your thigh, is extremely strong. Along with that, the strongest area of the femur known as the subtrochanteric area can be affected by the drug. So not only do you have a strong bone, you have the strongest part of that bone at risk for fracture. It is usually only fractured by severe high energy events like car or skiing accidents or high falls. To suffer a break from such a small event as walking down the driveway is extremely rare and with exposure to drugs like Fosamax, these fractures can be very severe and come with no warning. Watch this video now to learn more.

Can vitamins like folic acid actually improve erection? What do you think?
Folic acid:
Folic acid is an essential vitamin for our health. It is especially beneficial in pregnancy. Getting enough folate during pregnancy is particularly important. It is crucial for early fetal development, particularly with regard to the spinal cord.
It also helps the body make healthy new red blood cells. But how is it going to help in Erectile dysfunction?
The researchers found that men with erectile dysfunction typically had lower levels of folic acid than healthy, unaffected men.
Interestingly, low levels of folic acid were also associated with premature ejaculation.
Another important thing is homocysteine. It is an amino acid. A high level of homocysteine in our body is responsible for cardiovascular disease and Endothelial damage. Endothelial cells are the main type of cells found in the inside lining of blood vessels. They are the main source of NO in our body. Increase homocysteine level damage the endothelial lining and decrease the production of NO.
NO is very important for a successful erection. Low level of folic acid in our blood is responsible for high levels of homocysteine. So taking folic acid or folate can reduce the homocysteine level and fix the erection problem
Previously multiple studies had been conducted on that topic. However, the result was inconclusive. Some studies showed a direct relation between folic acid deficiency and ED but some studies showed there is no relation.
But a recent meta‐analysis of 6 studies compared 982 men with ED and 860 healthy men without ED. They showed a direct correlation between low level of folic acid and severity of ED. Lower the level of folic acid higher the severity of erectile dysfunction.
In this study, men with ED showed measurable improvements in erectile health after taking a folic acid supplement on a daily basis for three months.
Another study was conducted on 83 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and ED. They were randomly divided into two groups. Group A was treated with tadalafil 10 mg every other day plus folic acid 5 mg daily and group B received tadalafil 10 mg every other day with placebo pills daily for 3 months.
They have shown a significant improvement in patients who have taken both tadalafil and folic acid.
So, should you start taking a folic acid supplement?
Currently there is no standard guideline to take folic acid supplements, and also there are certain medications which shouldn’t be taken with folic acid like anti-seizure medicines, Barbiturates and some cancer medicines.
So it is better to consult with a healthcare professional or go for natural options.
found in a wide range of foods, including the following:
Leafy green vegetables, such as broccoli, spinach, asparagus and lettuce
Meats, including liver
Peanuts, sunflower seeds and beans
Seafood
Eggs
Milk and other dairy products
Folic acid is also commonly added to many breads, cereals, pastas and other grain products in order to prevent deficiencies.
But the best way to prevent erectile dysfunction is to manage your stress, sleep well, eat a healthy diet and exercise daily. It will improve the overall scenario.
