Dangerous Side Effects
Phenergan tablets and elixir contain the active ingredient promethazine hydrochloride, which is a type of medicine called a sedating antihistamine.
Phenergan is used to relieve the symptoms of allergic reactions such as hay fever and to prevent and treat sickness and vomiting. It is also used as short-term treatment of insomnia in adults, as well as a short-term aid for sleep for children.
Histamine is a substance produced by the body as part of its defence mechanisms. It causes the symptoms of allergic reactions.
Promethazide hydrochloride works by blocking the effects of histamine, especially in a region of the brain known as ‘the vomiting centre’, which is responsible for causing feelings of sickness and for the vomiting reflex.

Attorney Michael Werner of Parker Waichman discusses how one prescription drug is being deemed useless.
In an effort to stop recurring heart attacks and strokes, Plavix was once billed as a great companion to aspirin. However, recent studies have shown that the drug has had no positive effects on patients who use it. And in fact, those who do take the drug are at a much higher risk for bleeding episodes. This is a very important issue for people considering or already taking Plavix and aspirin. Watch this video now to learn more.

Are you looking for a effective treatment for ED? Do you want to know about tadalafil tablet uses? Then you've come to the right place! Dr. Ashish Reddy will teach you everything you need to know about tadalafil, including its benefits and side effects.
In this video, you'll learn about tadalafil and its uses, includng the 100% no-side-effects formula. So don't wait any longer, and watch this video to learn all you need to know about tadalafil tablet uses!
Tadalafil is a medication that is primarily used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. It belongs to a class of drugs called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors. Tadalafil helps increase blood flow to the penis, allowing for a firm and long-lasting erection when combined with sexual stimulation.
Here are the main uses of tadalafil tablets:
Erectile dysfunction (ED): Tadalafil is commonly prescribed to men who have difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection sufficient for sexual activity. It helps relax the smooth muscles in the blood vessels of the penis, improving blood flow and promoting an erection.
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH): Tadalafil is also approved for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia, a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland. It helps relieve symptoms such as urinary urgency, frequency, weak stream, and incomplete bladder emptying associated with BPH.
Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH): Tadalafil is sometimes used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension, a condition characterized by high blood pressure in the arteries that supply the lungs. It helps relax and widen the blood vessels, improving blood flow and reducing the workload on the heart.
It's important to note that tadalafil should be used only under the guidance of a healthcare professional, as they will determine the appropriate dosage and duration of treatment based on your individual circumstances. Additionally, tadalafil should not be used by women or children.

Penn Medicine's Trauma Center uses all means necessary to quickly find and stop bleeding, as uncontrolled bleeding is the leading cause of death in patients who have been severely injured. Depending on the location and severity of bleeding, a patient may require specific medications, red blood cell transfusion, invasive catheter procedures, plasma or platelets, or surgery.
Patrick Kim, MD, trauma surgeon and the Trauma Program Medical Director at Penn Medicine's Level 1 Trauma Center, discusses life-threatening bleeding and the use of tranexamic acid (TXA), a medication that helps control bleeding after trauma which has been used to treat bleeding on a wide varity of patients in the operating room and Emergency Department.
"It has the greatest impact of survival on the patients who are bleeding the most," Dr. Kim explains. "In one study, TXA improved survival by 14% -- which is remarkable for any single medical treatment. TXA is an important part of our Trauma Center strategy to stop bleeding and save lives. Although it's not a replacement for blood transfusion or prompt surgery, it is an important addition to these treatments." He continues, "TXA is an important part of our Trauma Center’s strategy to stop bleeding and save lives. Although it’s not a replacement for blood transfusion or prompt surgery, it is an important addition to these treatments."

Tretinoin is a topical medication commonly used to treat acne, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and improve the overall texture and tone of the skin. It is a form of retinoid, which is derived from vitamin A. Tretinoin should be used with care and under the guidance of a healthcare provider or dermatologist, as it can be potent and may cause skin irritation. Here are some general guidelines on how to use tretinoin:
check all products: https://bit.ly/4bUG7Tb
Consult a Healthcare Provider: Before starting tretinoin, consult with a dermatologist or healthcare provider to determine if it's the right treatment for your skin concerns. They will provide specific instructions based on your skin type and condition.
Start with a Low Concentration: Tretinoin comes in various concentrations, typically ranging from 0.025% to 0.1%. Beginners should start with a lower concentration to minimize the risk of irritation. Your healthcare provider will recommend the appropriate strength for your skin.
Apply at Night: Tretinoin is usually applied at night because it can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. It's important to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen during the day to protect your skin from UV damage.
Cleanse Your Face: Before applying tretinoin, cleanse your face with a mild, non-alcoholic cleanser. Pat your skin dry with a clean towel.
Apply a Pea-Sized Amount: Use a small amount of tretinoin, about the size of a pea, to cover your entire face. Avoid applying it too close to your eyes, nostrils, and mouth.
Avoid Sensitive Areas: Be cautious around sensitive areas, such as the corners of your eyes and the corners of your mouth. Applying tretinoin to these areas can increase the risk of irritation.
Wait for Your Skin to Dry: Allow your skin to dry completely after cleansing before applying tretinoin. This helps reduce the risk of irritation.
Moisturize: After tretinoin has absorbed into your skin (usually after about 20-30 minutes), apply a non-comedogenic moisturizer to help prevent dryness and reduce irritation.
Use Sparingly: Using tretinoin more frequently or applying larger amounts than recommended will not yield better results and may increase irritation.
Be Patient: It can take several weeks to see noticeable improvements in your skin. Initial side effects like redness and peeling are common but usually subside with time. If the irritation is severe, consult your healthcare provider.
Follow Instructions: Always follow the instructions provided by your healthcare provider or on the medication label. Do not use tretinoin on broken or sunburned skin.
Avoid Harsh Products: While using tretinoin, avoid harsh skincare products that may exacerbate irritation, such as abrasive scrubs or products containing alcohol.
Regular Follow-Up: Keep in touch with your dermatologist or healthcare provider for follow-up appointments to monitor your progress and adjust your treatment plan as needed.

This video explains some common side effects of venlafaxine extended-release capsules.
Mechanism of Action
The exact mechanism of the antidepressant action of venlafaxine in humans is unknown but is thought to be related to the potentiation of serotonin and norepinephrine in the central nervous system, through inhibition of their reuptake. Non-clinical studies have demonstrated that venlafaxine and its active metabolite, ODV, are potent and selective inhibitors of neuronal serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake and weak inhibitors of dopamine reuptake.
Venlafaxine XL capsules contain the active substance venlafaxine.
Venlafaxine XL is an antidepressant that belongs to a group of medicines called serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). This group of medicines is used to treat depression and other conditions such as anxiety disorders. It is thought that people who are depressed and/or anxious have lower levels of serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain. It is not fully understood how antidepressants work, but they may help by increasing the levels of serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain. Venlafaxine XL is a treatment for adults with depression. It is also a treatment for adults with the following anxiety disorders: generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder (fear or avoidance of social situations), and panic disorder (panic attacks). Treating depression or anxiety disorders properly is important to help you get better. If it is not treated, your condition may not go away and may become more serious and more difficult to treat.
Do not take Venlafaxine XL :
- If you are allergic to venlafaxine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
- If you are also taking, or have taken within the last 14 days, any medicines known as irreversible monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), used to treat depression or Parkinson’s disease. Taking an irreversible MAOI together with Venlafaxine XL , can cause serious or even life-threatening side effects. Also, you must wait at least 7 days after you stop taking Venlafaxine XL before you take any MAOI.

Review Atypical Antipsychotics (vs Typical Antipsychotics) and their mechanism of action.
Study this Atypical Antipsychotics mnemonic and other NCLEX mnemonics with Pixorize.
Atypical antipsychotics are a drug class used to treat psychosis in schizophrenia and other psychotic conditions, and are also used as mood stabilizers for bipolar disorder. Drugs in this category include clozapine, olanzapine, aripiprazole, risperidone, quetiapine, and ziprasidone. Side effects of these drugs include extrapyramidal symptoms, abbreviated EPS, which refers to a constellation of movement problems, like tremors, muscle spasms, and restlessness. Atypical antipsychotics are also well known for causing metabolic syndrome and weight gain. Other side effects include sedation, anticholinergic effects, and neuroleptic malignant syndrome, abbreviated NMS. NMS is a medical emergency characterized by muscle rigidity, fever, confusion, and unstable vitals. Clozapine can cause agranulocytosis, or a rapid fall in white blood cells, and ziprasidone can cause QT prolongation and the abnormal heart rhythm of torsades de pointes.
