8:36 Learn more about the connection between your gut microbiome and neurotransmitters!
Let’s talk about dopamine.
Dopamine has many functions. It’s involved in body movement, sleep cycles, gastrointestinal motility, food intake, learning, kidney function, and blood pressure.
Dopamine is associated with behaviors and certain emotions. However, people on the lower end of the emotional scale aren't going to just have low dopamine but also other neurotransmitters and hormones. Dopamine is increased with pleasure, but it’s also increased with stress and pain.
Conditions related to low dopamine include:
• Parkinson’s
• Schizophrenia
• ADD or ADHD
• Depression
Medications used to treat the above conditions can deplete other neurotransmitters and have potential side effects.
Dopamine isn’t a single molecule that works on its own to create an effect. It’s a system that creates many different effects. Trying to increase dopamine without looking at the bigger picture isn’t going to work.
Here are some action steps you can take if you have low dopamine:
1. Get rid of artificial stimulus
2. Balance dopamine and other neurotransmitters
3. Consume a little more animal protein and fat
4. Support your gut microbiome
5. Get plenty of vitamin C (leafy greens or sauerkraut)
6. Get plenty of copper (shellfish or seafood)
Tips to help balance dopamine and other neurotransmitters naturally:
• Exercise consistently
• Get outside
• Get plenty of sun or vitamin D3
• Involve yourself in music or the arts
• Do things you like
• Get connected with other people
• Get plenty of tyrosine (consume high-quality animal protein)

Alzheimer's disease is a form of dementia primarily affecting elderly individuals, characterized by memory loss and cognitive impairment. It is genetically linked, and lifestyle factors such as alcohol consumption and smoking can exacerbate its effects. The disease is caused by protein deposits that disrupt brain circuits, leading to memory and cognitive issues.
While there is no cure, management with drugs like donepezil, galantamine, and rivastigmine can improve memory, and anti-depressants may help with accompanying symptoms. Additionally, a focus on healthy lifestyle choices and physical exercise is crucial for patients. Accurate diagnosis is essential, differentiating Alzheimer's from other forms of dementia through clinical assessments and genetic testing. Subscribing to our channel will provide more information on this challenging condition.

What Are The Side Effects Of Donepezil? In this informative video, we will discuss the side effects of Donepezil, a medication commonly prescribed for Alzheimer's disease. Donepezil belongs to a group of drugs known as cholinesterase inhibitors, which play a role in enhancing cognitive function by increasing acetylcholine levels in the brain. While it can help manage symptoms associated with Alzheimer's-related dementia, it is essential to be aware of the potential side effects that may arise during treatment.
We will cover both the common and less common side effects associated with Donepezil, as well as some serious reactions that, although rare, should not be overlooked. Understanding these side effects is vital for anyone taking this medication, as it can influence treatment decisions and overall well-being. We will also touch upon the importance of communicating with healthcare providers about any side effects experienced, and how adjustments to the treatment plan can be made if necessary.

A bit more detailed information about Donepezil and Memantine:
Donepezil or Aricept is what’s known as a cholinesterase inhibitor. When a person is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, they begin to have less and less of a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine who’s job is to carry signals from nerve cells to muscle cells. Acetylcholine plays a vital role in muscle contractions, memory, motivation, sleep and learning. The brain also has an enzyme called acetylcholinesterase. This is the enzyme that helps to break down acetylcholine so that it can be recycled and rebuilt into new neurotransmitters for the next message.
So, the rationale behind Donepezil is relatively simple: if you block the enzyme acetylcholinesterase from breaking down the acetylcholine, then more of it will remain and the brain can continue carrying signals between nerve cells and muscle cells.
Memantine is what’s known as an NMDA antagonist. So, instead of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, Memantine works by slowing the transmission of a different neurotransmitter called glutamate. Glutamate is the major excitatory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. It plays an important role in learning and memory. But, it is thought that too much stimulation by glutamate may over-excite nerve cells and cause them to die. So, by blocking the effects of glutamate, Memantine may protect nerve cells from getting overstimulated.

✅ Docusate sodium is a stool softener laxative. It draws water into the stool to make it softer, which helps relieve constipation. As it is an anionic surfactant that lowers the surface tension of the oil and water interface of the stool, allowing fecal material to be penetrated by water and fat, thereby softening the stool. It is available as capsules and tablets, syrup and enema.
✅ Docusate is used in the short-term treatment of constipation; prophylaxis in patients who should not strain during defecation, such as after anorectal surgery, myocardial infarction, also used to evacuate the colon for rectal and bowel examinations, and for prevention of dry hard stools.
✅ Avoid concurrent use of docusate with mineral oil (increases risk of fat-soluble vitamin absorption interference and systemic absorption of mineral oil).

Atinge a parte sexual?

Study this First-gen Antihistamines mnemonic and other mnemonics with Pixorize.
First generation antihistamines are a class of drugs that include Chlorpheniramine and Diphenhydramine. These drugs work by blocking histamine receptors, muscarinic receptors, and alpha-1 adrenergic receptors. Blocking H1 histamine receptors can reduce histamine-mediated vasodilation and vascular permeability, helping to treat allergy symptoms. Blocking muscarinic receptors can help to treat vestibular nausea, or motion sickness. However, due to their multiple mechanisms, first generation antihistamines also cause a variety of side effects. As antimuscarinic drugs, these drugs can cause anticholinergic symptoms like dry mouth, constipation, confusion, and hallucinations. Blockade of alpha-1 receptors can lead to orthostatic hypotension, characterized by lightheadedness and dizziness. Finally, blockade of histamine receptors can lead to sedation or drowsiness by blocking inhibiting centers in the brain.
