ENALAPRIL side effects | Common side effects of enalapril tablet | Enalapril tablet side effects Side Effects 1 Views • 5 months ago

This video explains some common side effects of enalapril.

Some other information on enalapril (for educational purposes only; not for a substitute for professional medical advice).

ENALAPRIL MALEATE TABLETS contains the active substance enalapril maleate.

‘ENALAPRIL’ belongs to a group of medicines known as ACE inhibitors (Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme Inhibitors). ‘ENALAPRIL’ works by causing your blood vessels to widen. This helps your blood pressure to fall. It also makes it easier for your heart to pump blood around your body.

The medicine usually starts to work within an hour, and the effect lasts for at least 24 hours. Some people will require several weeks of treatment until the best effect on their blood pressure is seen.

Do not take ‘ENALAPRIL’ if:

You are allergic to enalapril maleate, any other ACE inhibitors (a type of medicines similar to ‘ENALAPRIL’), or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Any member of your family has had an allergic reaction to these medicines or you have ever had swelling of your face, eyelids, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat which caused difficulty in swallowing or breathing (angioedema) when the reason why was not known or it was inherited.
You have diabetes or impaired kidney function and are treated with a blood pressure-lowering medicine containing aliskiren.
You are more than 3 months pregnant. (it is also better to avoid ‘ENALAPRIL’ in early pregnancy.
If you are being treated with sacubitril/valsartan, a medicine for heart failure.
Do not take ‘ENALAPRIL’ if any of the above apply to you. If you are not sure about taking ‘ENALAPRIL’, talk to your doctor.

Understanding the Mechanics of an EpiPen: How It Works, Its Uses, and Potential Side Effects
Understanding the Mechanics of an EpiPen: How It Works, Its Uses, and Potential Side Effects Side Effects 1 Views • 5 months ago

An EpiPen is designed as a user-friendly, portable device that can be easily administered in emergency situations. The key component of an EpiPen is the medication it contains, called epinephrine. Epinephrine, also known as adrenaline, is a hormone naturally produced by the adrenal glands. When released into the bloodstream, it helps to constrict blood vessels, relax smooth muscles, and increase heart rate and blood pressure.

The EpiPen works by delivering a precise dose of epinephrine into the body through an injection. The device consists of a spring-loaded mechanism that drives a needle into the thigh muscle, allowing the epinephrine to be quickly absorbed into the bloodstream. The needle is relatively short, typically around 1.3 centimeters, which minimizes the risk of hitting a bone or an artery.

Once the needle is injected, the epinephrine begins to take effect within minutes. It works by binding to specific receptors in the body, known as adrenergic receptors. By stimulating these receptors, epinephrine helps to reverse the symptoms of anaphylaxis, a severe allergic reaction. These symptoms may include swelling of the face and throat, difficulty breathing, hives, and a drop in blood pressure. Epinephrine acts as a bronchodilator, opening up the airways, and also helps to reduce the swelling, allowing for improved breathing and increased blood flow.

Common uses of EpiPen.
EpiPens are primarily used in cases of severe allergic reactions, known as anaphylaxis. Anaphylaxis can occur as a response to various allergens, such as certain foods (e.g., peanuts, shellfish), insect stings, medications, or latex. When an individual experiences anaphylaxis, it is crucial to administer epinephrine as quickly as possible to prevent further escalation of symptoms and potentially save their life.

In addition to anaphylaxis, EpiPens may also be used in certain medical procedures, such as during anesthesia, where allergic reactions can occur. It is important to note that EpiPens should only be used in situations where there is a known or suspected severe allergic reaction. For less severe allergic reactions, antihistamines or other medications may be more appropriate and effective.

Potential side effects of EpiPen.
Like any medication, EpiPens do come with potential side effects. However, it's important to remember that the benefits of using an EpiPen in life-threatening situations generally outweigh the risks of side effects. That being said, it is still essential to be aware of the potential adverse reactions that can occur.

Some of the common side effects associated with EpiPen usage include increased heart rate, nervousness, sweating, headache, and dizziness. These side effects are typically temporary and resolve on their own. In rare cases, more serious side effects can occur, such as irregular heart rhythms, chest pain, or difficulty breathing. If any of these more severe side effects are experienced, immediate medical attention should be sought.

It is worth noting that individuals with certain medical conditions, such as heart disease or high blood pressure, may be more susceptible to experiencing adverse reactions from epinephrine. Therefore, it is important to consult with a healthcare professional to determine the appropriate use of an EpiPen based on individual circumstances.

Signs You Are Taking Too Much Levothyroxine (When to LOWER Your Dose)
Signs You Are Taking Too Much Levothyroxine (When to LOWER Your Dose) Side Effects 1 Views • 5 months ago

Signs you are taking too much levothyroxine and when to know if you need to lower your dose. It's quite common for thyroid patients to accidentally take TOO much levothyroxine.

Levothyroxine is the most commonly used medication to treat low thyroid (of all types). Unfortunately, it only works if you are using the correct DOSE, however!

And there are many people out there right now, perhaps you, who are taking either too much or too little. The side effects associated with taking too much or too little are almost the complete opposite.

If you've been taking levothyroxine or Synthroid and you are NOT feeling better then this video is for you.

While it is more common for people to not take ENOUGH levothyroxine (meaning their dose is too small) there are still plenty of people out there who are taking too much levothyroxine.

When you take too much levothyroxine you will start to experience some of the symptoms of hyperthyroidism as well as a few added symptoms associated with the medication itself.

Signs your dose of levothyroxine may be too high include:

#1. Irritability
#2. Hair loss
#3. Anxiety
#4. Insomnia
#5. Muscle weakness
#6. Fertility issues
#7. Rapid heartrate
#8. Palpitations
#9. Diarrhea or loose stools
#10. Heat intolerance

Do you feel that your thyroid medication dose is off? Do you think you are taking too much? Leave a comment below to let me know!

What Are The Side Effects Of Ezetimibe In The Elderly? In this informative video, we discuss the side effects of ezetimibe, a medication commonly prescribed to manage cholesterol levels, particularly in older adults. Understanding the potential reactions and complications associated with this medication is essential for caregivers and family members. We will cover serious side effects such as allergic reactions and liver damage, along with their symptoms and what steps to take if they occur. Additionally, we will address muscle-related issues that can arise and the importance of monitoring energy levels and urine color.

We also touch on common side effects that may not be as severe but can still affect daily life, such as stomach discomfort and diarrhea. For elderly patients, the combination of ezetimibe with moderate-intensity statins may offer a safer alternative to high-intensity statin therapy, reducing the risk of complications. Monitoring blood sugar levels is also crucial, especially for those with diabetes.

What is Farxiga? What is Farxiga used for? Benefits of Farxiga That Will Change Your Life

Discover Farxiga's benefits, side effects, and precautions for diabetes and heart health. Stay informed and share your thoughts in the comments!

## Introduction to Farxiga

- Overview: Farxiga, also known as dapagliflozin, is an oral medication designed to improve outcomes for individuals with diabetes, heart disease, or kidney disease. It offers therapeutic benefits in managing these conditions by improving blood sugar control and reducing various risks.
- Uses: Farxiga is particularly effective for adults and children aged 10 and older with type 2 diabetes, alongside diet and exercise. It also lowers the risk of hospitalization for heart failure and reduces the risk of cardiovascular death and progression of kidney disease in individuals with chronic kidney conditions.

## Mechanism of Action

- Functionality: Farxiga works by inhibiting sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) proteins in the proximal renal tubules, preventing glucose reabsorption in the kidneys and increasing glucose excretion in the urine.
- Physiological Impact: The medication influences key physiological functions by reducing sodium reabsorption, lowering heart preload and afterload, regulating sympathetic activity, and decreasing kidney pressure.

## Approval and Availability

- FDA Approval: Farxiga received approval from the FDA on January 8, 2014, for its use in various medical conditions as described.
- Generic Availability: Currently, there is no generic version of Farxiga available on the market, and it is manufactured by AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals LP.

## Potential Side Effects and Precautions

- Common Side Effects: Includes genital yeast infections, urinary tract infections, and nasopharyngitis (runny or stuffy nose), which are generally mild and treatable.
- Serious Side Effects: Farxiga can cause diabetic ketoacidosis, dehydration, sudden kidney injury, allergic reactions, and, in rare cases, necrotizing fasciitis. Patients should consult their doctor if these symptoms occur.

## Contraindications and Safety Measures

- Contraindications: Farxiga should not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes or those with moderate to severe kidney disease. It is also contraindicated for individuals with specific allergies or hypersensitivity to dapagliflozin.
- Safety Measures: Patients should discuss their health conditions, such as liver problems or urinary tract infections, with their doctor before starting Farxiga. Additionally, considerations regarding diet, surgery, chronic alcohol consumption, and pregnancy should be addressed.

## Dosage and Administration

- Dosage: The typical initial dose for type 2 diabetes is 5 milligrams daily, potentially increasing to 10 milligrams for additional glycemic control. The dosage may vary for heart failure and kidney disease management.
- Administration Guidelines: Farxiga should be taken once daily, with or without food, following all prescription instructions. It's crucial to monitor blood sugar and ketone levels regularly.

## Drug Interactions and Storage

- Drug Interactions: Patients should inform their healthcare provider about all current medications, as Farxiga may interact with insulin, diuretics, lithium, and other drugs, possibly affecting blood sugar levels.
- Storage: Farxiga should be stored at room temperature, away from moisture and heat, to maintain its efficacy.

## Common Queries

- Weight Loss: While Farxiga is not a weight-loss drug, it may lead to modest weight loss in some individuals.
- Effectiveness Timeline: Farxiga begins working after just one dose but might take up to a week to demonstrate full effectiveness.
- Kidney Impact: Although intended to benefit kidney conditions, Farxiga can potentially cause acute kidney injury, requiring vigilance for symptoms like reduced urination or swelling in legs.

Farxiga FDA Approved Kidney Disease Treatment. Should You Use It Or Not? *SHOCKING RESEARCH*
Farxiga FDA Approved Kidney Disease Treatment. Should You Use It Or Not? *SHOCKING RESEARCH* Side Effects 1 Views • 5 months ago

AstraZeneca’s Farxiga (dapagliflozin) has recently been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a treatment for chronic kidney disease (CKD) in patients at risk of progression with and without type-2 diabetes.

This approval is the most remarkable advancement in the treatment of chronic kidney disease in over 20 years. During the DAPA-CKD Phase III trial, the oral drug Farxiga showcased an amazing reduction in the risk of declining renal function, end-stage kidney disease, and cardiovascular or renal death in CKD patients.

Farxiga is the most recently FDA-approved kidney disease treatment that can help tackle many complications that come with kidney disease. Farxiga was originally approved in 2014 to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes in addition to diet and exercise. These oral tablets, once-daily sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors, went under review in January 2021.

The ground-breaking approval news came in after a successful DAPA-CKD Phase III trial. The numbers from this trial showed many kidney disease sufferers the light at the end of the tunnel.

During this trial, 4304 patients were randomly assigned to receive either Farxiga or a placebo. By the end of the study, the researchers concluded a 39% reduction in the risk of declining renal function, cardiovascular death, as compared to a placebo in stage 2 to 4 CKD patients with high urinary albumin excretion. AstraZeneca’s Farxiga showed an overall 31% reduction in the risk of death versus placebo.

However, consult your doctor if these side effects persist or become worse. Atorfit F (10/160 mg) Tablet can be taken with or without food. For ease of remembering, take this medicine at the same time every day. Do not stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor as it may worsen your condition. Atorfirst F (10/160 mg) Tablet is not recommended for use if you are allergic to it. Avoid taking this medicine if you have severe kidney problems, pre-existing liver conditions, or gallbladder conditions such as gallstones (solid deposits that develop in your gallbladder).
