Rinvoq
Rinvoq Side Effects 0 Views • 1 month ago

Rinvoq represents the third janus kinase inhibitor marketed in the United States. Xeljanz and Olumiant preceded Rinvoq. All are indicated for treatment of moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis. Humira will lose patent protection in America in 2023 and face stiff competition from biosimilars. Rinvoq will be heavily advertised by AbbVie since it faces severe deterioration in its $20 billion a year golden goose - Humira - the most revenue derived from any single drug.

While the company quotes the annual price for Rinvoq at about $59,000, an individual paying cash for Rinvoq at the pharmacy can expect the cost to approximate $90,000. Through a sleight of hand the company offers Rinvoq copay assistance to limit the out of pocket burden, shield the consumer from sticker shock and pass the financial liability to the insurance company. Of course this results in an ever increasing spiral of premiums for everyone.

Unquestionably Rinvoq provides significant improvement for many with rheumatoid arthritis. But unfortunately its relative place among the various options lacks study. Other therapies include methotrexate, hydroxychoroquine, sulfasalazine, Simponi, Enbrel, Remicade, Humira, Actemra and the other janus kinase or JAK inhibitors. Of course many individuals with mild rheumatoid arthritis do well with aspirin, ibuprofen or naproxen.

With the billions of dollars these drugs transfer to the pharmaceutical industry, a study comparing the various options would be greatly welcome. Too often advertising drives prescriptions. And it can be expected that some individuals with mild disease will receive Rinvoq when it is not indicated. By the way, methotrexate costs as little as $20 a month without any insurance or other gimmicks.

Risperidone (Risperdal) REVIEW
Risperidone (Risperdal) REVIEW Side Effects 0 Views • 1 month ago

I review the anti-anxiety, as well as anti-psychotic medication Risperidone, the generic for Risperdal. Risperidone is used to treat anxiety and for people with more intense problems, bi-polar disorder and even schizophrenia. I was taking Risperidone for anxiety. In my opinion, and I am not a doctor or qualified medical professional in any way, I suggest to readjust your diet, consider if you are not getting enough nutrients at important times throughout the day (especially breakfast, if you are substituting morning meals for caffeine, which can deprive your brain of nutrients), as well as take a look at the privacy and well being of your current living situation, also your employment situation insofar as relationships at work or if it is a job that makes you happy. Also, I suggest that before starting medication to reevaluate your closest relationships in your life and if there is an imbalance that is causing you to have these problems or any possible outside influences that can be changed without the need for medication. Please consult a prescribing doctor, psychiatrist and psychologist to talk about this before deciding what treatment is right for you.

Review of Citalopram (generic for Celexa): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdEVgA7cd2c

I cannot offer much advice, because I am not a doctor. However, if you have questions, please just watch the whole video and if you are interested my videos on Citalopram (Celexa) and Zoloft (Sertraline) at the above links. I offer insight to anyone taking this medicine or considering taking this medicine for anxiety, depression or other problems. I wish you the best and wish I had the time to help out everyone. All I can suggest is to actually hear all I have already said in the videos, which should answer your questions, as well as ask your psychiatrist. Here and there I try to help by responding to comments, but I have covered most of everything in the videos. Thanks for watching.

Here is information copied directly from WIkipedia on Risperdal (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Risperidone):

Risperidone, sold under the trade name Risperdal among others, is an antipsychotic medication.[1] It is mainly used to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and irritability in people with autism. It is taken either by mouth or by injection into a muscle.[1] The injectable version is long acting and lasts for about two weeks.[2]

Common side effects include movement problems, sleepiness, trouble seeing, constipation, and increased weight.[1][3] Serious side effects may include the potentially permanent movement disorder tardive dyskinesia, as well as neuroleptic malignant syndrome, an increased risk of suicide, and high blood sugar levels.[1][2] In older people with psychosis as a result of dementia it may increase the risk of dying. It is unclear if it is safe for use in pregnancy. Risperidone is an atypical antipsychotic. Its mechanism of action is not entirely clear but believed to be related to its ability as a dopamine antagonist.[1]

Risperdal
Risperdal Side Effects 0 Views • 1 month ago

Risperdal or its generic risperidone was the second atypical antipsychotic drug marketed in the United States. Originally prescribed for schizophrenia, manufacturers now focus on mania associated with the bipolar disorder and irritability in autistic children. Other drugs in this category include Abilify, Zyprexa, Seroquel, Latuda, Geodon, Invega, Vraylar and Rexulti.

Off label use of Risperdal is increasingly common. Doctors now prescribe it for anxiety, depression, tics, anxiety, behavioral problems, eating disorders, borderline personality disorder and even insomnia. As many as 1 in 5 seniors in nursing homes receive an atypical antipsychotic. Prescriptions to children appear distressingly common.

Risperdal may result in a wide variety of potentially serious and long lasting complications. Among the problems are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain and indigestion. Dry mouth, back pain, difficult sleeping, decreased libido and blurred vision may appear. More serious are tiredness, somnolence and impaired judgment or thinking.

Parkinson like rigidity and gait disturbances are not uncommon. Breast tissue enlargement or gynecomastia may develop in young boys. People may gain weight and develop diabetes as a result of Risperdal. A decline in blood pressure upon standing often lead to dizziness, fainting and falls. Seizures and decreased production of white blood cells by the marrow are other problems sometimes associated with therapy.

An involuntary, repetitive movement of muscles involving the brows, lips, mouth, tongue or extremities becomes increasingly frequent in parallel with the dose and duration of therapy. Known as tardive dyskinesia this well known complication of antipsychotics affects up to 5% at 1 year and 25% after 5 years. Unfortunately it rarely resolves even after discontinuing therapy.

Between 2011-2018 the FDA Adverse Reporting Database received notice of 3691 deaths in people taking Risperdal with the overall number of serious reactions in excess of 37,000. Estimates suggest the FDA receives notice of fewer than 1 out of every 10 adverse drug reactions. While inclusion on the list does not necessarily imply cause and effect, the numbers are sobering.

Drug companies sponsor most of the literature and medical reports dealing with drugs. Obviously these published studies accentuate positive findings and minimize associated harms. Patients and physicians require a neutral analysis to place pharmaceutical advertising into proper perspective. The Cochrane Collaboration does just that as an independent worldwide network not beholden to the drug industry.

On evaluating Risperdal, the Cochrane group concludes the evidence regarding Risperdal appears to be of very low quality with a probable bias in favor of the drug. As a result of the significant potential for harm, Risperdal and related drugs should be prescribed with extreme caution and not recommended prior to considering safer alternatives.

What is Risperdal? Use & Risks
What is Risperdal? Use & Risks Side Effects 0 Views • 1 month ago

Today I want to talk to you about psych meds. What is Risperdal? Lets talk about the use and risks of using it.

There are a lot of folks that say any use of psych meds and elders is always bad care. The issue is much more complex. In 2016, the American Psychiatric Association had an expert panel review of all the studies for the use of antipsychotics and elder elders with dementia. They found that other aspects of care needs to be addressed first. Pain needs to be relieved and the elders should be an environment where they get person-centered care, and they're engaged in activities that they enjoy.

If you're having trouble with someone's behavior, definitely think about the medications. Risperdal can be very helpful.

Shortage of ADHD medications like Ritalin and Concerta | ABC NEWS Side Effects 0 Views • 1 month ago

A shortage of common ADHD medications like Ritalin and Concerta is expected to persist until the end of the year.
Dave Coghill, President of the Australian ADHD Professionals Association, says the shortage is the result of the restricted supply of a key ingredient from the US, which is needed for methylphenidate.
It comes as ADHD diagnoses continue to increase.

Risk of B-Cell Depleters Long-Term (Ocrevus, Rituximab, Kesimpta, Briumvi)
Risk of B-Cell Depleters Long-Term (Ocrevus, Rituximab, Kesimpta, Briumvi) Side Effects 0 Views • 1 month ago

Is it safe to take B-cell depleting medications for multiple sclerosis such as Ocrevus, Rituximab, Kesimpta, and Briumvi continuously for many years? In this video, I explain the immune system can become weaker over time with continuous use, and low immunoglobin (antibody) levels can result in serious infections.

Notes:

Is rituximab 500mg just as good as rituximab 1000mg for MS? This deescalation study suggests that decreasing the dose to 500mg does not affect clinical, MRI, or serum NfL results over a 12 month period and may be safer.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32840408/

Do you really need Ocrevus every 6 months? This study in Italy during the pandemic found that "extended interval dosing" was linked to more MRI activity but not disability progression or NEDA-3. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36036858/

What happens if you delay Ocrevus due to fear of covid? Nothing! This retrospective study suggests that extended interval dosing compared to standard dosing did not significantly change relapses, disability progression, MRI activity. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34261812/

An extended dosing interval for rituximab for patients with stable MS during the COVID-19 pandemic may be associated with a low risk of disease activity. https://nn.neurology.org/content/7/5/e825?utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=organic

Decoding Rituximab Side Effects: A Guide to Managing Your Treatment Journey
Decoding Rituximab Side Effects: A Guide to Managing Your Treatment Journey Side Effects 0 Views • 1 month ago

Common Side Effects of Rituximab. Rituximab, like any medication, may cause side effects in some individuals. It is important to note that not everyone experiences these side effects, and their severity can vary from person to person. The most common side effects associated with Rituximab include fatigue, nausea, and infusion reactions.
Fatigue.
Fatigue is a prevalent side effect reported by many patients undergoing Rituximab treatment. It may manifest as a general sense of tiredness, lack of energy, or excessive sleepiness. Fatigue can significantly impact your daily activities and quality of life. To manage fatigue, it is crucial to prioritize rest and sleep, practice good sleep hygiene, and conserve energy by pacing yourself throughout the day. Engaging in light physical activity, such as gentle stretching or short walks, can also help combat fatigue. Consulting with your healthcare provider about any persistent or debilitating fatigue is essential to rule out other underlying causes.
Nausea.
Nausea is another common side effect experienced by individuals receiving Rituximab. It may occur during or shortly after the infusion or persist for a few days. To alleviate nausea, your healthcare provider may prescribe anti-nausea medications or recommend dietary changes. Eating small, frequent meals and avoiding spicy, greasy, or heavy foods can help reduce nausea. It is important to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids, but avoid consuming large amounts in one sitting. If nausea persists or worsens, notify your healthcare provider for further evaluation and management.
Infusion Reactions.
Infusion reactions are relatively common during Rituximab treatment. These reactions can occur during or shortly after the infusion and may include symptoms such as fever, chills, rash, itching, and difficulty breathing. Mild infusion reactions are usually manageable and can be treated with medications, such as antihistamines or corticosteroids, as recommended by your healthcare provider. Severe infusion reactions are rare but can be life-threatening. If you experience severe symptoms, such as difficulty breathing or swelling of the face, throat, or tongue, seek immediate medical attention. It is important to inform your healthcare team about any previous infusion reactions or known allergies before starting Rituximab treatment.
Managing and Minimizing Common Side Effects.
While experiencing side effects can be challenging, there are strategies you can employ to manage and minimize their impact on your daily life. Here are some tips to help you navigate common side effects associated with Rituximab treatment:.
Fatigue Management.
Prioritize rest and sleep:. Allow yourself enough time for quality sleep and incorporate short rest periods throughout the day.

How to use Xarelto - Explain Uses,Side Effects,Interactions
How to use Xarelto - Explain Uses,Side Effects,Interactions Side Effects 0 Views • 1 month ago

When you start taking Xarelto, make sure to read the Medication Guide provided by your pharmacist. Take this medication by mouth as directed by your doctor. For preventing strokes and blood clots due to an irregular heartbeat, take a dose once a day with the evening meal. For other conditions, such as after surgery or during a hospital stay, also take a dose once a day. For adults treating blood clots, take a dose twice a day for the first 3 weeks, then once a day. For children, the dose is usually once a day. If you are taking this medication to lower the risk of blood clots from forming again, the dose is usually taken once a day. Carefully follow your doctor's directions and do not change the dosage without consulting your doctor.

The 10 milligrams tablet may be taken with or without food, while the 15 milligrams and 20 milligrams tablet should be taken with food. If you have any questions about how to take Xarelto, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

If you are unable to swallow whole tablets, you can crush the tablet and mix it with applesauce, but do not prepare a supply for future use. If you are giving this medication through a tube into the stomach, ask your health care professional for detailed instructions on how to properly mix and give it.

The dosage and length of treatment is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. For children, the dosage is also based on weight. Take Xarelto regularly at the same time(s) each day to get the most benefit from it.

Metocarbamol ¿Cuándo y como debemos tomarlo? - Tu Farmacéutico Informa
Metocarbamol ¿Cuándo y como debemos tomarlo? - Tu Farmacéutico Informa Side Effects 0 Views • 1 month ago
