Can vitamins like folic acid actually improve erection? What do you think?

Folic acid:

Folic acid is an essential vitamin for our health. It is especially beneficial in pregnancy. Getting enough folate during pregnancy is particularly important. It is crucial for early fetal development, particularly with regard to the spinal cord.

It also helps the body make healthy new red blood cells. But how is it going to help in Erectile dysfunction?

The researchers found that men with erectile dysfunction typically had lower levels of folic acid than healthy, unaffected men.
Interestingly, low levels of folic acid were also associated with premature ejaculation.

Another important thing is homocysteine. It is an amino acid. A high level of homocysteine in our body is responsible for cardiovascular disease and Endothelial damage. Endothelial cells are the main type of cells found in the inside lining of blood vessels. They are the main source of NO in our body. Increase homocysteine level damage the endothelial lining and decrease the production of NO.

NO is very important for a successful erection. Low level of folic acid in our blood is responsible for high levels of homocysteine. So taking folic acid or folate can reduce the homocysteine level and fix the erection problem

Previously multiple studies had been conducted on that topic. However, the result was inconclusive. Some studies showed a direct relation between folic acid deficiency and ED but some studies showed there is no relation.

But a recent meta‐analysis of 6 studies compared 982 men with ED and 860 healthy men without ED. They showed a direct correlation between low level of folic acid and severity of ED. Lower the level of folic acid higher the severity of erectile dysfunction.

In this study, men with ED showed measurable improvements in erectile health after taking a folic acid supplement on a daily basis for three months.

Another study was conducted on 83 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and ED. They were randomly divided into two groups. Group A was treated with tadalafil 10 mg every other day plus folic acid 5 mg daily and group B received tadalafil 10 mg every other day with placebo pills daily for 3 months.
They have shown a significant improvement in patients who have taken both tadalafil and folic acid.

So, should you start taking a folic acid supplement?
Currently there is no standard guideline to take folic acid supplements, and also there are certain medications which shouldn’t be taken with folic acid like anti-seizure medicines, Barbiturates and some cancer medicines.

So it is better to consult with a healthcare professional or go for natural options.

found in a wide range of foods, including the following:
Leafy green vegetables, such as broccoli, spinach, asparagus and lettuce
Meats, including liver
Peanuts, sunflower seeds and beans
Seafood
Eggs
Milk and other dairy products
Folic acid is also commonly added to many breads, cereals, pastas and other grain products in order to prevent deficiencies.

But the best way to prevent erectile dysfunction is to manage your stress, sleep well, eat a healthy diet and exercise daily. It will improve the overall scenario.

2 Important Studies on Fosamax, Actonel & Boniva - NY Attorney Matthew McCauley explains more at: https://www.yourlawyer.com/def....ective-drug-attorney

Watch as Attorney Matthew McCauley of Parker Waichman discusses how 3 major prescription drugs are causing patients to suffer fractures in their leg.

For patients who suffer bone diseases like osteoporosis and osteopenia, doctors typically describe a class of drugs known as bisphosphonates. These drugs are manufactured to the public with the brand names of Fosamax, Actonel, and Boniva. Recent studies have shown that these drugs are being linked to femur fractures in patients. Not only are they femur fractures, but something known as "atypical" femur fractures. And what this means is that these breaks aren't being caused by the normal accident or trauma to a leg.

Patients are fracturing their femurs doing the most normal of things like getting out of their car or stepping off a curb. One recent report stated that an astounding 82% of people who suffered this type of fracture had been prescribed one of these bisphosphonate drugs. More research and investigation is being done to confirm that these drugs are causing this type of harm and whether or not they should remain on the market. Watch this video now to learn more.

Furosemide - Indications, Mechanism Of Action, Pharmacology, Adverse Effects, And Contraindications
Furosemide - Indications, Mechanism Of Action, Pharmacology, Adverse Effects, And Contraindications Side Effects 1 Views • 7 months ago

Furosemide is a loop diuretic medication used in the treatment of conditions with volume overload and edema.
Some common indications of furosemide include the following.
Treatment of ascites and edema in chronic liver disease.
Treatment of heart failure.
Treatment of hypertension, along with other anti-hypertensive medications.
Renal impairment, including nephrotic syndrome.
And in the treatment of hyperkalemia.

Furosemide promotes its diuretic effects by inhibiting the tubular reabsorption of sodium and chloride in the proximal and distal tubules, as well as in the thick ascending loop of Henle.
Here, furosemide competitively inhibits the sodium-potassium-chloride cotransporters expressed along these tubules in the nephron, preventing the transport of sodium ions from the luminal side into the basolateral side for reabsorption.
This inhibition results in increased excretion of water along with sodium, chloride, magnesium, calcium, hydrogen, and potassium ions.
Similar to other loop diuretics, furosemide decreases the excretion of uric acid from the kidneys, predisposing to gout.
Furosemide also exerts direct vasodilatory effects, which results in its therapeutic effectiveness in the treatment of acute pulmonary edema.
Furosemide can be administered both orally and intravenously.
The dose may vary according to the indication and its severity.
The metabolism of furosemide occurs mainly in the liver and the kidneys, and the majority is excreted via the kidneys.
Potential adverse effects of furosemide therapy include the following.
Gastro intestinal effects such as Hepatic encephalopathy in patients with cirrhosis, Pancreatitis, Jaundice, Increased liver enzyme levels, loss of appetite, Oral and gastric irritation, Cramping, Diarrhea or Constipation, and nausea and vomiting.
Systemic hypersensitivity reactions and vasculitis.
Neurological effects such as ototoxicity, vertigo, headache, dizziness, blurred vision, and paresthesia.
Hematological effects such as Aplastic anemia, thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis, hemolytic anemia, and leukopenia.
Dermatologic Reactions such as Toxic epidermal necrolysis, Steven-Johnson syndrome, Erythema multiforme, urticaria, and photosensitivity.

Loop Diuretics Pharmacology Nursing (Mechanism of Action) Furosemide
Loop Diuretics Pharmacology Nursing (Mechanism of Action) Furosemide Side Effects 1 Views • 7 months ago

Loop diuretics pharmacology nursing review that includes the mechanism of action, side effects, nursing interventions, and patient education.

Loop diuretics mechanism of action is on the thick ascending limb of the loop of Henle. These medications will inhibit the sodium-potassium-chloride (NKCC2) cotransporter. When this cotransporter is inhibited, it will decrease the ions (sodium, potassium, and chloride) reabsorbed into the blood.

In turn, this will decrease sodium reabsorption in the loop of Henle (which normally reabsorbs about 25% of sodium) and decrease the tonicity of the medulla, which is normally hypertonic. The end result will be that the collecting ducts and loop of Henle will reabsorb less water back into the blood and more water will leave the nephron as filtrate.

Side effects of loop diuretics include: hypokalemia, hypocalcemia, hypomagnesemia, ototoxicity, metabolic aklaosis, and dehydration.

Loop diuretics are used to treat heart failure, pulmonary edema, hypercalcemia, and liver impairment (due to ascites).

Nursing interventions for loop diuretics: included in the video.

Use Aged Garlic for High Blood Pressure

Could the use of aged garlic for high blood pressure work just as well as some medications? Check this out.

DATA:

Timestamps
0:00 Natural remedy for hypertension
0:25 Atenolol side effects
0:40 Aged garlic for hypertension
0:50 Aged garlic benefits
1:18 Fresh garlic vs. aged garlic for high blood pressure
2:23 Share your success story!

Let’s talk about aged garlic for high blood pressure. In a study involving 210 people over 24 weeks, aged garlic was shown to be just as effective as Atenolol for hypertension.

Aged garlic has fewer side effects and may be just as effective as Atenolol for hypertension. Always check with your doctor before coming off of any medications or trying any natural remedies.

Potential side effects of Atenolol:
• Blurred vision
• Cold hands
• Confusion
• Difficulty breathing
• Dizziness
• Excessive sweating
• Tightness in chest
• Fatigue
• Wheezing

Aged garlic seems to be effective because of an active ingredient called allicin. Allicin has many interesting effects, including anti-cancer effects and anti-hypertensive effects.

Potential benefits of allicin in aged garlic for hypertension:
• It can decrease angiotensin 2 (helps relax blood vessels and reduce hypertension)
• It can increase nitric oxide (helps reduce hypertension)
• It can decrease inflammation (helps lower blood pressure)
• It can thin the blood (reducing the risk of clotting)

When it comes to aged garlic vs. fresh garlic, aged garlic may work better than fresh garlic for high blood pressure. But, if you want to try fresh garlic, be sure to crush it and wait at least 15 minutes before consuming it to release more of the allicin compound. However, aged garlic has higher amounts of allicin, phytonutrients, and antioxidants than fresh garlic.

Aged garlic was found to inhibit advanced glycation end products by 56.4%. Fresh garlic was found to inhibit advanced glycation end products by 33.5%. Advanced glycation end products are involved in a lot of chronic health problems.

Simethicone (Gas-X) Pharmacology Podcast
Simethicone (Gas-X) Pharmacology Podcast Side Effects 1 Views • 7 months ago

On this podcast episode, I discuss simethicone pharmacology, adverse effects, drug interactions, and much more!

Simethicone is primarily used for anti-gas purposes. It is most often used on an as needed basis for relief of flatulence and bloating associated with gas.

Systemic absorption is minimal with simethicone so the occurrence of any systemic-type side effects at therapeutic doses is low.

Simethicone may interfere with levothyroxine absorption. Timing levothyroxine at least a few hours prior to simethicone should help reduce the significance of this interaction.

Lesson on Aminoglycoside Antibiotics. Aminoglycoside antibiotics all have the suffix of -mycin, -micin or -cin and may be confused with the macrolides, which have the suffix -thromycin. Aminoglycosides are almost always used in conjunction with another antibiotic and are administered parenterally. Bacterial targets for aminoglycosides include gram negative coverage. There are specific side effects with use of aminoglycosides as well, which we also discuss in this lesson.

I explain the side effects of diabetes medications.

In this video, I explain the effects of type 2 diabetes medications on your body.

Your pancreas makes the hormone insulin, which travels through your blood. Insulin responds to carbohydrates; less so to protein. Its goal is to lower your blood sugar.

Insulin is received by what’s called an insulin receptor. As I said, one goal is to lower blood sugar. Another is to store glycogen (sugar), cholesterol, or fat.

There are 3 different effects these medications create in this scenario. One is that they increase the production of insulin. One popular medication is called sulfonylurea, but it works only for type 2 diabetes, not type 1. The problem with this medication is that it’s also used as an herbicide. It increases your risk of cardiovascular disease and death.

Another mechanism works on the insulin receptor. People with type 2 diabetes have insulin resistance, meaning their receptors aren’t taking in insulin very well. This creates a failure in the feedback loop to the body, which ends up getting the message to produce more and more insulin. The more the receptor is resistant, the more insulin the pancreas is going to produce.

If you’re taking a sulfonylurea, which increases insulin production, your insulin levels are going to get quite high.

Metformin increases the sensitivity of your receptors; that is, they can receive more insulin. A black label on metformin warns of the dangers of a condition called lactic acidosis, a serious condition that causes your pH to go way up. A natural remedy for this condition is vitamin B1. The problem is that metformin depletes B1.

Many type 2 diabetics are given insulin. The problem is that the pancreas is already producing too much insulin because of insulin resistance. So too much insulin is being dumped into the system for the purpose of lowering blood sugar. And it comes with the risk of cardiovascular disease, weight gain, and hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). With hypoglycemia, you become irritable and shaky and want to eat carbs to raise your blood sugar back up, starting the whole cycle over again.

Now you can see the effects of diabetes medications on your body.

What Is Glucosamine And Why You Need It? Functions, Recommendations, Side Effects, Why it Works
What Is Glucosamine And Why You Need It? Functions, Recommendations, Side Effects, Why it Works Side Effects 1 Views • 7 months ago

Glucosamine is a natural compound found in cartilage, the tough, flexible tissue that cushions your joints. It's an amino sugar that plays a crucial role in maintaining the structure and function of cartilage and other connective tissues.
In supplement form, glucosamine is commonly harvested from the shells of shellfish (like shrimp, crabs, and lobsters) or can be produced in a lab, including plant-based versions derived from corn.
People often take glucosamine supplements, especially glucosamine sulfate, to address joint health concerns, particularly osteoarthritis. It's thought to help by:
Supporting cartilage health: As a building block of cartilage, it's believed to aid in the repair and regeneration of cartilage tissue.
Relieving osteoarthritis symptoms: Some research suggests it may help reduce joint pain, stiffness, and improve physical function, particularly in knee osteoarthritis. However, research results have been mixed, and some experts believe the benefits might be due to a placebo effect.
Reducing inflammation: Glucosamine may have anti-inflammatory properties, especially when taken with chondroitin.
While generally considered safe for most adults, it's important to be aware of potential side effects, which can include mild gastrointestinal issues. Those with shellfish allergies should be cautious as most supplements are derived from shellfish. Also, individuals on blood thinners like warfarin, or those with asthma or glaucoma, should consult a doctor before taking glucosamine.
