Hypovase tablets contain the active ingredient prazosin, which is a type of medicine called an alpha-blocker.
Prazosin has some quite different uses (See below for more on this). It works by blocking alpha receptors in certain areas of the body.

Prazocin 2.5 mg tablet | Prazosin 5 mg tablet | Prazosin hydrochloride tablet
Prazosin is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and lower any future risk of heart attack and stroke. In addition to this, it is also used to treat mild prostate gland enlargement in men (known as Benign Prostate Hyperplasia) and heart failure. Hypertension (high blood pressure) is a lifelong or chronic condition in which the blood pressure against the artery walls becomes high. The higher this blood pressure, the harder the heart has to pump. It also used for scorpion sting. Prazosin inhibits the postsynaptic alpha-1 adrenoceptors. This inhibition blocks the vasoconstricting (narrowing) effect of catecholamines (epinephrine and norepinephrine) on the vessels, leading to peripheral blood vessel dilation.
Prazosin contains Prazosin, an alpha-blocker primarily used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). It acts by relaxing the blood vessels, reducing the heart's workload, and making the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body. Thus, it helps to lower high blood pressure, reducing the chances of any future heart attack or stroke.
Common side effects:- The most common side effects of Prazosin are drowsiness, headache, weakness, dizziness, priapism (prolonged erections), nausea, and feeling exhausted.

Learn about one of the top causes of hypertension and how one important mineral can help.
0:00 Introduction: Essential hypertension
0:32 What is high blood pressure?
1:11 What causes hypertension?
2:29 Potassium and heart health
4:04 Best sources of potassium
5:08 How to lower blood pressure naturally
In this video, we’re going to take a look at hypertension. Ninety percent of all hypertension is considered essential hypertension. This means the cause is unknown. Anti-hypertensive medication is one of the most prescribed medicines in the world.
Normal blood pressure is 120/80. Research suggests a strong relationship between potassium deficiency and high blood pressure. Many people are deficient in potassium because the requirements are so high—4700 mg daily.
You need about half as much sodium as potassium, but many people consume three times as much sodium as potassium!
Potassium directly controls the tone of the vascular system. This directly affects blood pressure. Potassium also supports the endothelial layer of the arteries and helps improve insulin resistance.
Potassium supplements often only contain 99 mg of potassium, which is incredibly low considering how much potassium you actually need.
You can get potassium from salad, but you must consume around 7 to 10 cups daily. This also provides magnesium. The combination of potassium and magnesium can help reduce high blood pressure.
Diets high in carbs and sugar cause you to lose potassium. Adrenaline and cortisol deplete potassium as well.
To support healthy blood pressure levels, try increasing your salad intake. You can also look for a high-quality electrolyte powder that's high in potassium.

Thanks for watching! I hope this explains why potassium is the best mineral for lowering blood pressure naturally. I’ll see you in the next video.
Is my potassium low? What are signs of low potassium?
Potassium helps with fluid balance, muscle contraction, and nerve impulse transmission. If potassium is too low these functions will suffer, and so will your health & happiness.
Your body controls your serum potassium level very tightly. It will steal potassium from muscles, bones and even your brain to keep the serum potassium within normal limits. Therefore, you can have a normal serum potassium lab result, and still be very deficient in potassium.

POTASSIUM (K) is a critical electrolyte that works across cell membranes in conjunction with Sodium. It is part of the mechanism that allows for the correct passage of chemicals through the membranes. Most people are deficient in Potassium to some degree. An extreme deficiency is known as Hypokalemia.
Below is a list of typical symptoms of a Potassium deficiency. Note the first six can also be symptoms of a Magnesium deficiency, so it is easy to confuse the two, though in most cases if you are deficient in one you will likely be deficient in the other. One symptom in the list (Oedema, #4) does not occur with a Mg deficiency, so this could help you tell.
1) Anxiety (ie worry; not to be confused with Depression)
2) Insomnia
3) High Blood Pressure
4) Fluid Retention (swollen/puffy ankles and feet, called "oedema")
5) Lower Leg or Foot Cramps (particularly at night)
6) Constipation
7) Arrhythmias (either Heart Palpitations, or a Racing Heart/Tachycardia)
You might not have all of these symptoms, but if you have 4 or 5 of them and are concerned, you should consider the high possibility that this is your issue (which is good news, as it’s easy to fix!) I suffered from ALL SEVEN (in addition to further symptoms of Mg deficiency – see link below to video about MAGNESIUM) but cured all of them quite quickly once I understood my problem.
Reasons for being low in Potassium include:
1) Poor Diet (inadequate Potassium intake due to processed food and too much carbohydrate/sugar)
2) Excessive Alcohol Use (alcohol is a diuretic)
3) Insulin Resistance (pre-diabetes/obesity)
4) Medications that are diuretic
5) Short Term Illness with Vomiting or an Upset Stomach
6) Excessive Sweating (in hot weather or from intense exercise)
7) High water intake with low electrolytes
8) Kidney Disease (kidneys regulate Potassium levels)
9) Stress (the stress hormone Cortisol interferes with the kidneys’ ability to recover Potassium from the urine)
(As most of these problems also affect your Magnesium levels, it is common to be deficient in both)
Foods rich in Potassium:
1) Green leafy vegetables, especially the Brassica family (cabbage, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower) as well as asparagus and spinach.
2) Nuts (especially almonds)
3) Avocados
4) Salmon or other cold water, oily fish
*PLEASE NOTE* blood test results will not tell you your Potassium is low, unless you are critically ill, and need to be hospitalized immediately. Your body controls the serum Potassium (ie blood Potassium) very strictly so the level is always within a “normal” range in a test, but it will not show that Potassium is low in the muscles and tissue fluid. The best way to diagnose this is by noting the symptoms, using some common sense when looking at the possible causes, then addressing it to see if the symptoms improve.
*Do not use a Potassium supplement if you are on any heart medication*, particularly for BP, as many BP meds (like LOSARTAN) are high in Potassium themselves (so you are effectively already supplementing). *DISCUSS SUPPLEMENTING WITH YOUR DOCTOR OR CARDIOLOGIST*.
If you do supplement Potassium, it is advisable to supplement Magnesium at the same time as the deficiency symptoms are similar, and so are the causes. Experiment with levels of supplementation, but it makes sense to start on 400mg per day. If this is not helping after a week, speak to your doctor.

### **The Effects of High Potassium on Your Body (Hyperkalemia)**
**Potassium** is an essential mineral that helps regulate nerve signals, muscle contractions, and heart function. However, when potassium levels become too high (**hyperkalemia**), it can have serious effects on your health.
### **🔴 Symptoms of High Potassium Levels**
Mild cases may not show symptoms, but as potassium levels rise, you may experience:
✔️ Muscle weakness or cramps
✔️ Irregular heartbeats (arrhythmia)
✔️ Nausea or vomiting
✔️ Numbness or tingling in the hands and feet
✔️ Shortness of breath
✔️ Fatigue or dizziness
### **⚠️ Causes of High Potassium**
🔹 **Kidney Disease** – The kidneys regulate potassium levels, and if they don’t function properly, potassium builds up in the blood.
🔹 **Excessive Potassium Intake** – Eating too many potassium-rich foods (bananas, avocados, potatoes, spinach) or supplements.
🔹 **Certain Medications** – ACE inhibitors, ARBs, and potassium-sparing diuretics can cause potassium retention.
🔹 **Uncontrolled Diabetes** – High blood sugar can lead to potassium imbalances.
🔹 **Severe Dehydration** – Can cause the body to hold onto potassium.
### **🩺 Health Risks of High Potassium**
⚠️ **Heart Problems** – Hyperkalemia can cause dangerous heart rhythm issues, leading to cardiac arrest in severe cases.
⚠️ **Muscle Paralysis** – Extremely high potassium levels can weaken or paralyze muscles.
⚠️ **Nerve Dysfunction** – Can affect nerve signaling, causing numbness or tingling sensations.
### **📉 How to Lower High Potassium Levels**
✔️ **Limit High-Potassium Foods** – Reduce intake of bananas, oranges, potatoes, and beans.
✔️ **Stay Hydrated** – Drinking enough water helps flush excess potassium from the body.
✔️ **Take Medications if Needed** – Doctors may prescribe diuretics or potassium binders.
✔️ **Dialysis for Severe Cases** – In patients with kidney failure, dialysis may be required to remove excess potassium.
### **🩺 When to See a Doctor?**
Seek **immediate medical attention** if you experience:
🔴 Severe irregular heartbeats
🔴 Muscle paralysis or extreme weakness
🔴 Difficulty breathing
**High potassium can be life-threatening, but with the right management, it can be controlled!** 💙💊 Let me know if you need more details! 🚀
I don't normally talk a lot about studies on my channel, but I do think it is very important to sometimes for you to understand what the researchers are doing and the background that comes from your doctor giving you health advice.
So today I am going to talk about a great study that came out of rural China that focused on people who were at high risk for Cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure and stroke. They took 25% of their participants salt intake and replaced it with potassium chloride and then followed them for five years. The results were fascinating!
The study can be found here: https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/....10.1056/nejmoa210567
* If you have kidney disease you have to be very careful how much potassium you can have. So make sure to talk to your doctor about using a salt substitute.

Working as a kidney doctor, I found that my patients were often unaware of just how important diet and lifestyle were and how often they felt unsupported by generic advice to “eat healthy”.
The home cook in me hated hearing this, so I set out to find a better way. I began to combine my medical training and love of food, making videos of simple recipes that were based on science and packed with flavor. Instead of just saying “eat healthy” to my patients, I could give them the resources they needed to make a real difference in their health.
Kidney doctor, passionate home cook, and YouTube sensation Dr Blake Shusterman empowers people to proactively manage their health by stepping into the kitchen. The author of several cookbooks with over 100,000 YouTube subscribers, The Cooking Doc® believes anyone, at any age can transform their health with small changes that make a big difference. Based on science and packed with flavor, Dr. Blake’s simple recipes have inspired home cooks everywhere to change their diet, retrain their taste buds, and transform their health.

Hydroxychloroquine is an anti malaria and autoimmune prescription drug that has shown effectiveness against viral infections. That versatility placed hydroxychloroquine at the forefront of testing for potential COVID-19 treatments. Studies done in a lab have shown the prescription drug can have a fighting chance against coronaviruses, but these results do not necessarily mean the drug is safe or effective on COVID-19 patients. Still, large observational studies began after the FDA allowed emergency use of hydroxychloroquine on COVID-19 patients. So what have they found?.

Hydroxychloroquine And What It Does To Your Body
Chloroquine and Hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) are antimalarial drugs that help with symptoms of autoimmune disease. Unfortunately, LONG TERM use of these medications can cause retinal toxicity and can lead to permanent vision loss. In this video, I review the testing used to screen for plaquenil retinopathy during an eye exam.
NOTE: The risk of of Plaquenil Toxicity is higher when the cumulative dose is over 1000g not mg.

Can you use CBD oil to treat seizures and epilepsy in dogs? If so how do you give it and what dose of CBD oil should you use?
Here are some high-quality CBD options with independent analysis:
- Oil: https://cbdmd.t7c9v8.net/XD25X
- Hard chews: https://cbdmd.t7c9v8.net/0LRBR
- Soft chews: https://cbdmd.t7c9v8.net/EoRY2
- Peanut butter: https://cbdmd.t7c9v8.net/6rV9E
- Need to try and determine the causes of the seizures - organ disease, infections, poisoning, brain lesions, epilepsy
- When to start treatment if epilepsy - 2 or more seizures in 6 months - certainly more than 1 a month, not recovering between seizures, severe seizure or prolonged recovery
If not epilepsy then need to try and address underlying cause as often don’t respond as well to anti-seizure medication alone
- Need to pick best anti-seizure medication
With some drugs like phenobarbital and imepitoin we know how effective they can be and what to expect with long term administration. With CBD oil research into its use to control seizures is in the early stages, there are currently no published studies detailing how effective it is, although these are starting to be run.
- Why try a drug we don’t know much about or how well it works over other drugs that we know work in a large number of patients?
